Ireland's DFA describes the security situation as "very challenging, both in Port Moresby and outside." France Diplomatie has two active health alerts for Port Moresby: a dengue and malaria surge, and a separate polio outbreak advisory. Italy's Viaggiare Sicuri adds a nationwide cholera warning.

As of the FCDO's April 5, 2026 update, Cyclone Maila was tracking from the Solomon Islands toward PNG, with Western Province Islands most exposed and severe weather predicted across all provinces. Check current status before any coastal or island travel.
