For £15/night in a 14 bed mixed dorm I guess you get what you paid for. The linen was clean, but bathrooms and kitchen in a terrible state. Neighbourhood not so good and hostel itself had no atmosphere though the staff were friendly. Wouldn’t go back nor recommend unless you’re in a tight spot with no other options…
I stayed in a private room, it was okay, but expensive for what it offered. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but the carpets disgusting. There was one common area, which was packed with mostly unpleasant volunteers. It felt like I was overstepping in their space. A few times, volunteers tried to enter my room in one day. At one point, I came back to find my window and blinds open and it was freezing. Felt like an invasion of privacy.
The dirtiest hostel room I have ever stayed in (and I’ve traveled to 30 countries). The room smelled strongly of pee, making it impossible to sleep. On top of that, the door was extremely noisy. The staff was okay, but the overall experience was very unpleasant.
can have better facilities like separate gender washrooms as they are available in other properties of same categories.
La ubicación y los trabajadores fue perfecto. Sin embargo, yo había reservado una habitación femenina, y cuando fui a hacer el Check-in, resultó que una chica había hecho el checkout para recuperar su fianza pero no sé había ido. A causa de eso me instalaron en la planta más baja en una habitación de staff, la cual estaba bastante mal. La ventana de esta daba a ras de la calle y entraba toda la luz, ruido y humo de la gente fumando en la calle. No fue culpa del staff, pero muy mala orga...
The location and the workers were perfect. however, i had booked a ladies room, and when i went to check in, it turned out that a girl had checked out to collect her deposit but i didn't know i had gone. because of that i was moved downstairs in a staff room, which was pretty bad. the window of this one looked out onto the street and let in all the light, noise and smoke from people smoking in the street. it wasn't the staff's fault, but very poor organization.
Smell of vomit in room. My son got bug bites all over his body!

INFESTATION after been in bed just 10 mins i was bitten 4 times on my hand. no new bed offered no refund. do not stay if you value yourself
Terrible front desk guy.
Staff was rude to me, you couldn't swing a cat in my room and the lounge was taken over by the volunteers watching a movie. The showers were dysfunctional and the bed far too narrow

Awesome Hostel, great location, fair price, excelente staff, comfy room and nice lounge área with daily activities.
This hostel was one of the best I’ve been to! The staff were so friendly and really made me feel at home. Everything was super clean and there were tons of spaces bustling with people playing games, watching movies, and cooking food together. Loved this hostel and will definitely be going back!

Los baños estaban fuera de las piezas y eran muy sucios, se compartían con demasiada gente y no había jabón en las duchas
Amazing hostel with a great vibe. Especially the common area and kitchen is very cool and social. The showers and bathrooms are perfectly good and clean. The 4£ unlimited breakfast is a great deal, surprised me how much choice was offered. Only complaint I have is I found my room a bit unconfortable and smelly.

Was here for only one night but had sooo much fun. Lots of activities going on, staff were so lovely and friendly (vini and santi), very clean, breakfast options weren’t my favourite but would 10000% come back again and probably will
Perfect location, comfortable stay, lovely staff, included me in the most fun experience - Ceilidh dances. Big kitchen for keeping your food and cooking, complementary tea, loads of places to charge phone around the common areas. The only thing I didn't like was weird smell in some of the rooms.

Lovely little hostel with a unique vibe
Great helpful staff. They even celebrated my birthday! Great working kitchen. Convenient location. Women’s bunk room was quiet and respectful.
all the staff were welcoming and helpful! the whole place was kept very clean, beds were sturdy and comfortable. bathrooms were all gender and had private stalls for everything, showers were good and had shelves and hooks which was awesome. location was impeccable right on the royal mile and made getting everywhere from the castle and train station to good pubs and restaurants very easy on foot. i would absolutely stay here again!
Endroit très sympathique et très bien situé. Nous n’avons pas utilisé la cuisine pour nos repas mais elle est très bien équipée et on sent un belnesprit de solidarité. A recommander!
We didn't use the kitchen for our meals but it is very well equipped and we feel a wonderful spirit of solidarity.
I was slightly anxious, having never stayed in a shared dorm, but I had two fantastic night's at HSH. Comfortable, clean and a great location. Only two showers and toilets for the two dorm room on my floor, but there wasn't a problem and they were clean and showers, hot. I needn't have worried. My dorm mates were tidy and respectful. And no snoring, unless I did, which of course, is totally acceptable. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Amazing hostel that you will love, beds are okay at best, mats are worn in and beds are close together but the atmosphere and everything made up for it, thank you to the staff because they made everything so lovely
This hostel is great for someone who wants to be centrally located and have easy access to most of Edinburgh’s attractions. They also offer nightly activities so you can meet other travellers which is really nice. And they have a great breakfast deal for £4. The only thing I didn’t love was the fact that shower is entirely a wet space and so you have to end up getting change in a wet and humid space which can be uncomfortable.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location was perfect (5min walk from train station and in the middle of the old town). Bedrooms were okay, there were lockers which were really practical. The kitchen was a bit of a mess and it was rather hard to find cutlery and stuff.
