The beds had absolutely no privacy, shook like crazy anytime someone moved, and there wasn't even a proper ladder to climb up to sleep on the upper bunk. The noise was also unbearable.

This hostel Argyle hostel is used for colour coded operatives the photos I submitted to feedback at aohostela.com show the alarming AI attack on myself by t-3 coders through their phones and the state utilises travellers so no accountability. The manager male was disgracefully rude and abusive when confronted with photos of these attacks slamming the hostel door behind me .
Filthiest hostel i’ve ever stayed in. Inconvenient location. Multiple Leaks in the ceiling including one above my bed. Door lock broke and we were stuck inside our room for 5hours before someone climbed out the window. Woke up to an old man pissing out of it cus he couldn’t hold it. Bathrooms were unsanitary and often would only have cold water. Absolutely no social atmosphere or vibes whatsoever. Felt more like a homeless shelter.
The place was very dirty, never saw staff until we were leaving, didn’t feel super safe as our room door didn’t lock since it was broken. Lockers were too small to fit our personal item sized backpack and because of this my umbrella was stolen from my bag during my stay. Multiple thing were broken, bed didn’t have rails on the top bunk so I almost fell off in the night, hot water taps were broken in some bathrooms, and floors were very dirty. Very unhappy and don’t recommend staying ther...
Les chambres sont en très mauvais état d'entretien ( les fenêtres de toit ne ferment pas complètement, les moquettes des chambres sont déchirées et sales). Les lits sont complètement inconfortables ( on sent tous les ressorts - même nos enfants - beaucoup plus jeunes que nous- les ont trouvés mauvais) Les cuisines sont en mauvais état et sales. Il n'y a pas d'eau chaude dans les douches ( nous avons essayé au moins 4 douches différentes). Je déconseille fortement cet établissem...
The rooms are in very poor condition (the roof windows do not close completely, the carpets in the rooms are torn and dirty). the beds are completely uncomfortable (we smell all the springs - even our children - much younger than us - found them bad) the kitchens are in bad condition and dirty. there is no hot water in the showers (we tried at least 4 different showers). I strongly discourage this establishment. sorry
The hostel was completely different to the images that were shown on the booking and had we known that the room was going to be different we wouldn’t have booked the room. It also stated on hostel world that the bathroom was private shared which made me assume that the bathroom would just be ours to use. We were told that we would actually be sharing the bathroom. The room had not been cleaned prior to our check in and the beds had not been made and the rubbish had not been taken out of room.
Small wobbly lockers, water dripping from the ceiling in shared bathroom, no mirror in bathroom, fresh coat of paint would have been nice, limited reception hours, would not recommend

Great location, well equipped kitchen, warm comfortable room. Communal towels not changed as offten as claimed and the front door was left unlocked more offten than not unfortunately.
The worse experience I have had in my life after years of travelling. Whilst the volunteer staff do their best, the manager who wouldn't give me his name - nor the owner's name to make an official compliant - has no interpersonal skills and is a bully who flies off into a rage. Instead of listening to you to resolve issues he makes things worse by ignoring you so that he doesn't have to take any responsibility. He shouldn't have a position where he interfaces with guests. I will not be back.
Horrible, but let's start with the positives. The only good thing was the Latino staff (very helpful). Everything else was terrible. The mattress felt like a bed of nails. The front door lock didn't work, so I was outside for 30 minutes in 3-degree weather hoping someone would be kind enough to check on me.
Amazing stay, would definitely recommend to whoever wants to visit Edinburgh on a budget! Amazing atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, great facilities. We were very satisfied with the rooms, bathrooms, and cleanliness of the place. Honestly can’t complain about anything, I would stay here again on my next visit.

They locked me out. Did not explain the code for the door. The window didn’t close, all the linens were old and dingy. The carpet in room2 had ripples . I left as soon as I could get out of there . There was no staff after 4 on the premises. A kind fellow traveler let me in

had a lovely stay, staff was very nice & competent. There is a nice community + outside area & still it was not noisy at all in the dorm. Nice, thick mattresses + extra sink in the dorm!! I’ve been here during Fringe Festival so the prices were of course extremely high. Just before, most of the bathrooms got renewed so they were really nice and clean. Also appreciated the service of being able to leave my suitcase there for some hours after checking out. Would come here back again anytime

Hostel dans son jus, nous n'avons vu aucun employé, les cuisines sont bien équipées mais il n'y a pas de serviettes de toilettes fournies.
Hostel in its own juice, we didn't see any employees, the kitchens are well equipped but there are no toilet towels provided.
Showers are notoriously not the best part of hostels, but while low pressure is fine, massive swings in temperature are frustrating (and a little dangerous).
Cute and quaint little place. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but nothing major for 1-2 nights. Staff was very nice. Great location!

Really could be a great hostel. But quality of facilities and cleanliness are way below standard as others have noted. Shame these were accurate. Needs more toilets and shower rooms. Beds pretty bad. Garden could be great. If things are sorted out, I'd happily pay now than current prices, but given quality it's overpriced. Staff were great, location is brilliant
