Leider konnten wir in unserem Zimmer dden Fensterladen nicht abschliessen und in der Tür hatte es Löcher so das, das Fliegennetz auch unnötig war.

The property is beautiful - rooms are comfortable with everything you could need. Bathrooms are good and a very nice clean kitchen with comfy sitting area. If you don’t have a car (like us) it is a bit difficult to get around, and taxis are expensive compared to other places in Costa Rica. The staff were super helpful and lovely, helped us to organise tours - one thing I would like to feedback is that maybe the company should offer a pickup/drop off service to get to the tours :)

La gérante, bien que très gentille, semblait un peu débordée. C'est dommage c'est un bel endroit, paisible mais je n'en garde pas un bon souvenir. Je voyageais en solo et aucune activité possible si vous n'êtes pas au moins deux. J'ai appris trop tard que j'aurais pu intégrer DES groupes mais n'ai jamais été prévenue... J'ai juste l'impression d'avoir perdu mon temps là bas puisqu'il n'y a pas grand chose à faire d'autre...

Die Besitzer sind super nett und hilfsbereit und die Atmosphäre ist wirklich toll und entspannt! Viele Tiere die herum laufen, nette Gäste, wenige Zimmer. Es war auch alles sauber und gut gepflegt! Ich war sehr gerne dort! Man sollte sich nur bewusst sein: die Tiergeräuschkulisse ist sehr laut. Verschiedenste Vögel Gezwitscher, viel Hunde Gebell, Brüllaffen und Leguane die aufs Dach hüpfen und das mit einem recht lauten Knaller. Wenn man aber nicht geräuschempfindlich ist beim schlafen,...

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt im El Gecko. Die Zimmer und das Personal waren Super. Nur die Lage des Hostels war ohne Auto nicht wirklich gut da man dort nicht sonderlich viel machen konnte und für den doch ziemlich hohen Preis hatten wir an anderen Orten in Costa Rica doch deutlich mehr bekommen dafür.

Lovely little place. Went in off season so not much going on and it was not like the other places we had been to before. The host was absolutely incredible, super friendly and helped us sort out taxi and buses. Cool gardens. Real family vibe.

We loved our stay with Inga! She was very helpful and hospitable. The room was as pictured, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was very nice and we enjoyed the scenery at the hostel.

Loved the hosts and had an spontaneous bioluminescence adventure.

Rien à dire, à chacun son choix de vie. Simplicité pour ma part, et propreté irréprochable. Bien organisé. Il faudrait juste un panneau supplémentaire en arrivant sur le chemin pour savoir où tourner après le croisement. Les tours proposés sont très correctes, bien préparés, avec produits frais. Bateaux fiables ainsi que l'équipe. Bonne chance à eux tous

Great value, perfect stopover for bioluminescent kayak tour and a trip to Curu national park. The team were great help. Food was great value and watching howler monkeys at breakfast was a highlight.

Super hostel, parfait pour se reposer dans un endroit calme ! La gérante nous a beaucoup aidés et a été très arrangeante, et le service de restauration est délicieux ! Chouette endroit :)

Grossartige Unterkunft, sehr schön eingerichtet und die Besitzerin war super nett. Der Wäscheservice war einfach grossartig.

Unauffällige kleine Anlage in familiärer Betreuung. Die Unterkunft ist einfach, aber das ist bei dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis auch vollkommen ok. Das Frühstück ist super und wirklich günstig. Es gibt allerlei Getier in unmittelbarer Umgebung, wir haben streitende Affen gehört, Kröten und diverse Vögel gesehen. Der Papagei Lola gehört zum Inventar :o) Wir wären auch länger geblieben, haben aber bereits nach einer Übernachtung die Fähre genommen. Ein echtes Kleinod.

This property was excellent, the staff were incredibly nice, the hostel itself was very nice, and everything went smoothly during our stay. The restaurant and food are exceptional and reasonably priced, and the staff are very helpful. The woman who checked us in and out helped us out with figuring out transportation and also gave good suggestions! Loved the tours they offer with the hostel too, and recommend!

I really love the environment and the woman who owns the place. And the food served here is like Gourmet dining

We enjoyed our stay at El Gecko! It was a little further out of the way than we were expecting and took about 8 minutes to walk from the hostel to the main road for food, bus, groceries. The facilities are cute, well kept, and had a lot of love put into them. The staff were a bit absent and directions were unclear at times. Having a good number to text with questions could have been helpful. We appreciated the size of the room, comfortable enough for the two of us to move around.

Me and my boyfriend loved staying here, we had been traveling for quite some time when we stayed here and it was so peaceful and quaint and after staying in dorms we appreciated the affordable and comfortable privates. Kitchen was perfect and had everything we needed. We did 2 tours with the family that owned it and had a great time :)

Had a lovely stay. Inga was very friendly and accommodating. Lots of wildlife to be seen just hanging out at the hostel and close to nearby attractions.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt im el Gecko! Sehr sympathische Gastgeber, die uns bei all unseren Fragen hilfreich Auskunft gegeben haben. Aktuell finden noch Bauarbeiten statt, dafür kann man sich bald auf ein Restaurant freuen. Uns hat die Baustelle nicht gestört und wir konnten im Garten entspannen. Die Lage ist ein wenig ausserhalb, aber zu Fuss ist alles Notwenige gut erreichbar. Wir können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen und würden sofort wiederkommen!

Basic but very clean and nice accommodation, good value for money. Nice owners. Make sure not to miss out on the bioluminescence tour as we did!

One of my favorite hostels, what a wonderful family. I will definitely return.

If you’re looking for a more local Costa Rican experience surrounded by nature.. then El Gecko is the perfect spot. The owners were VERY wonderful and helpful. The accomodation here is simple yet beautiful. We did the bioluminescence tour and it was well worth the money. From the accomodation you can do a 1 hour walk that leads to a totally secluded and magical beach. 2 nights was perfect for us! I would 100% stay again!
