Funky Moon Kampot

The worst hospitality treatment I have ever received. If you're planning on arriving past 10pm, don't expect any hospitality from the staff. The kitchen closes at 9 pm which is not listed on the app. Furthermore even a belgian volunteer was ready to go home based on her experience in the establishment, which for me says a lot. The hostelworld app counted my rating and gave it a 2, personally i would give it a 0.

No social atmosphere. Private rooms advertsied with hot water. we didn’t have any and when i asked he told me it was because i had booked a standard room? not advertised that way so a bit unfair.

Thought staff were friendly when I arrived but were way too lax and familiar with customers it made me feel uncomfortable. Staff were also smoking weed behind the bar which when I last checked was still illegal. I only realised some of the female staff were staff was when they went behind the bar and went on the computer. Facilities were average and power cuts/internet were on and off throughout my stay. I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend

Die Lage am Fluss ist richtig schön und gut für eine Kajaktour um den Loop (4$ für 2 Stunden). Dafür liegt das Hostel weiter außerhalb, mit dem Motoroller aber kein Problem (pro Tag 7$, in anderen Hostels 5$). Wasser nachfüllen kostet 0,5$. Schlafsaal hat keine Gepäckfächer, an den oberen Betten gibt's keine Steckdose, die Betten quitschen extrem. Etwas seltsame Atmosphäre, aber das ist natürlich subjektiv, die volunteers waren sehr nett.

Very clean and beautiful hostel - especially the private room. Nice view at the lake. Far from everything - need to rent a scooter. Not very social as there wasn’t really any guest. A lot of the volunteers were kind of weird. The local staff were very kind.

Top place to be

Funky moon is in a beautiful location by the river, with a deck that sits above the water. The room was generally okay and clean, but there was a sewage smell coming from the bathroom and there was no lock on the door - and no lockers so my belongings were pretty vulnerable. It is situated along a dark muddy path which is not ideal if you are returning from kampot. We were not informed that the gate would be locked after a certain time, which meant we had to climb the fence.

This was by far my absolute favourite place I’ve stayed at. Leon, one of the volunteers there was so helpful and welcoming, along with all of the other workers. It has the most incredible atmosphere. Hammocks and comfy seating all on the riverfront, cheap kayaking, good food, cheap drinks, comfy beds, great bathroom. I loved absolutely everything about this place and I wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you so much to the team for having me and I hope to come back again in the future.

This hostel provided exactly vibe I needed in Kampot. It was chill yet social. I really enjoyed that the staff and volunteers take you in as part of there family during your stay! It was perfect for me because I needed a few lower energy days and still enjoyed everyone’s company. The private room I had was gorgeous and the views in the common area are stunning!! Definitely one of my favorite hostels I’ve stayed in!!

I loved staying at Funky Moon! The hostels location is right on the lake which is so beautiful and peaceful! The hostel has such a chill vibe and you can kayak for only a few dollars! The rooms are spacious and clean. The 3 American volunteers are SO welcoming, kind and helpful and have so much respect for people and the hostel itself! Would defo recommend staying here! Oh and amazing food variety too for cheap price!✨

Absolutely loved my stay at Funky Moon! I originally booked for just 3 nights but ended up staying 10 because the vibe was simply too good to leave. Absolutely loved my 5-day stay at Funky Moon Hostel! The riverside location offers stunning sunsets, and the cozy vibe made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the food was delicious every single day. Plus, the adorable puppies, sweet dogs, and cuddly kittens (RIP Maroon) made the experience even more special. A perfect mix of chill, charm, and heart. If you're considering going to Kampot, you HAVE to stay there!

Loved my stay at Funky Moon. Great knowledgeable staff who have recommendations for what to do in the area. Nice location a little ways outside the city center with a bar and deck. Highly recommended!

Beautiful spot on the river and staff were extremely friendly and helpful, creating a nice social atmosphere without being a party hostel. Cute hostel dogs too. Bed was adequately comfortable although no lockers or lock on the dorm room might concern some, it felt safe enough. Located 5 minutes out of town which I think is far better for the riverfront and kayaking options, only $1-2 to get into town by tuk. Only downside for me the bathroom was a little dank.

It was the best hostel I ever stayed at. U always had nice talks with the Voulenteers and couldn't find anything to complain about. 10/10

My stay here was amazing, really good food, nice rooms and overall good vibes with the volunteers and staff. Also stunning sun sets !!!

We had a great stay in the Hostel. Enjoyed it. Good vibes and lovely team. Thanks, Devyn (?-sorry haha) for making it happen, that we made the ferry, even early in the morning. Two points to mention: - Hostel is not reachabel via Mail or WhatsApp, even as guest - Change in a proper amount should always be available
