Hyve Hostel Basel

They had a new “system” and it took me checking in 3 times for the room door to open. They have 1 person tending the bar, cafe and reception. It is unacceptable for the high price.

Worst hostel i have ever been to

Not clean. No welcoming. Very loud all the time. Adaptor in my capsule didn’t work so couldn’t charge my phone. Also very very hot in the capsule. Basically no aircondition in there.

Super expensive dorm, no privacy curtains,windowcurtains to small for the window and super thin walls directly next to the shower head

The people in my room smelled like cigarettes. it gave homeless shelter vibes. I wouldn't stay here again

Das Zimmer hatte kein Fenster, das sich vollständig nach außen öffnen ließ: außen vor das eigentliche Fenster war eine Plexiglasscheibe montiert, sodass es kaum Luftaustausch gab (es hatte 30C+ draußen und die Klimaanlage hat nicht funktioniert). Um überhaupt schlafen zu können, mussten wir die ganze Nacht den Ventilator laufen lassen. Beim Check-in sollte es bei Geschlecht nicht nur „Male“/„Female“ geben.

Nicht zu empfehlen. Hatte ein Einzelzimmer. Die Wände sind viel zu dünn und ich wurde mehrmals in der Nacht durch die Geräusche der anderen Gäste geweckt. Ausstattung im Zimmer war spatanisch und unschön. Die Bäder waren voll von schwarzem Schimmel und ich habe mich geekelt, dort überhaupt etwas anzufassen. Gemeinschaftsbereich im Erdgeschoss und Personal allerdings gut.

There was a drunk guy in the room I stayed in that night, or he was on drugs, I don't know...he woke us all up in the early hours! And he didn't speak English, and was very crazy and tried to attack us! This is the worst place I have ever stayed in Europe, there is absolutely no security!

Nice atmosphere but too costly for a hostel. Great location. Staff hours are limited and I was given a wrong code for entrance in the building which caused some nuisance while coming back to the hostel after 11pm since there was no one at the reception (luckily another guest opened it for me). Didn't feel safe leaving my belongings in the room without any lockers

Hostel is very central but the toilets are not clean at all. The lockers are too small in the mixed rooms you can't put the luggage in. had to keep it under the bed.

the hostel is great, with a nice common room to chill, activities (even though I didn’t get to do any while I was there), super chill staff always ready to help and a very useful location right by the main station. however, the rooms are just average and the top bunks don’t have plugs by the bed, so it doesn’t really feel worth the price. also not super sociable

It was a pleasant experience. The staff’s warm hospitality made me feel welcomed and the layout of the hangout spot created a good atmosphere for meeting new people. It's closer to the train station as described.

Een heel fijn hostel! Met een hele leuke buurt, dichtbij een heerlijk park en ook een supermarkt op loopafstand:) fijne bedden en een hele fijne douche!

Séjour hyper agréable, le personnel était charmant, les capsules sont très confortables et les aménagements super. Petit déjeuner également très bien, le choix est limité mais amplement suffisant et tout est très bon.

I stayed in the capsules and it was so great! Super comfy and really well decorated. It did get pretty hot in there though. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were helpful. The kitchen was really dirty, however it's also the responsibility of the people who cook in it to clean it up as well as housekeepers. apart from that, the place was great and was in a great location close to Basel SBB.

Pretty decent. Showers and toilets very clean. Very close to Basel SBB, about a 5 minute walk. Not very social though

Overall decent and would use again for the location. I didn't get to talk to staff members when checking in so I did not know what facilities were available. The lounge/cafe/sitting areas were not available when the hostel use it to host events for public. The bed was good size for a tall person but unfortunately it was memory foam with a really soft and flat pillow - didn't sleep well.

Really enjoyed my stay at Hyve. Very accessible, tourist friendly, and almost everything automated.

Good located. Very uncomfortable to open the doors with the codes all the times. Sometime go wrong and was very annoying. WC and dusche we're nice and clean but the room was tiny for 6 women and the beds were very uncomfortable. The chargers on the bed were not functioning and we should charge the phones on the Steckdose near door. They were less wardrobes than beds ?? The staff made a lot of noise very early in the morning 6-7am. Also I find badthat the kitchen was closing during the night.

One of the better hostels that I’ve stayed at. Only issue was I had to change pods twice because the chargers in them were not working, but staff was helpful and eventually helped me figure it out and move to a new pod.

The place is superb, really close to the train station.

Sono una ragazza e ho viaggiato da sola alloggiando in questo ostello; la posizione è perfetta, zona residenziale a due passi dalla stazione centrale ma comunque di giorno zona molto tranquilla e perfetta per prendere mezzi per girare la città, mentre la sera non l'ho sperimentato. La pulizia ok, personale poco presente ma gentile e self check-in facile e veloce, consiglio!

lights were a little hard to turn on and lockers run down. otherwise everything else was good

Es un hostel con buena ubicación y buenas instalaciones. He estado durante la época de navidad, e imagino que por esto había poca gente. Falta más limpieza en aseos, duchas y en la cocina.

I booked last minute so this wasn't planned however the pods were clean, warm and cosy with USB charging and a light. If you are worried about security then it's worth knowing that the main door, room door and the pod door all require a code to access so security it very good. The negatives for me were the pillows were really poor, the pods do get warm and I needed to leave my door open and the social side was lacking, however it was just after Christmas so this is understandable. Staff, lovely

The Hyve in Basel was very easy to check in and centrally located. The staff were very helpful and I met some really great people staying at the hostel. Kitchen is well equipped for all of your cooking needs and we were even allowed to make a small fire in the courtyard which really was a nice thing in the cold winter night.

Great location, security, staff; Only issue was that there were no outlets for those on the top bunk in my room. Other than that, great hostel and I'd stay there again.

Ich hatte eine schöne Zeit im Hyve Hostel Basel und habe mich rundum wohl gefühlt. Ich werde jederzeit wieder dort übernachten, wenn ich wieder in Basel bin.

Everything was sooo good and thought through! A lot of space everywhere and staff was super nice!
