I had such a bad time there. It was no social. There were some Filipino groups traveling. So not really a solo backpacker hostel to find people with same mindset. The AC was super cold cause this one Filipino group in my dorm set the AC at 18/19°C all the time. There is a free breakfast and u can choose from three options what u want to eat. No hot drink included. The shower were really nice with a lot pressure and a hair dryer. The location is a bit off but super close to the beach for sunris...
Loud outside, laundry lost an item of clothing.
There is not much to do, didn’t really enjoyed my stay.. The rooms are big enough and the beds have privacy curtains. My mattress was not the best but it was alright for one night as I’m not picky. BUT The en-suite bathroom was a nightmare. It smelled after urine even after they cleaned it. There was water on the ground unsure if the toilet leaked or some of my roommates missed the toilet. The food was not worth the price. Pool was boiling hot and rarely people around.
It was quite empty and the music was so loud despite no one participating in the evening events. The beds were big and clean and the shower was nice but the location wasn’t great. A good option for a one night stay.
hostel is new, so very empty. staff were absolutely lovely. bed was SO creaky.
rooms are nice, Staff are sooooo friendly and dedicated for us to have a good time. Big thanks to everyone who would come and talk to me everyday ( Especially Ivy!) the only real downside to my stay were the prices for the food and drinks, but the accommodation is good value for money.
Usually at Mad Monkey there are reps always working to make sure people are being included and helping to orchestrate connections and conversations. Not here. There was only one night with an organized activity. Everyone there was local and there were children in the pool. There were no free shots. In my room, I had the two loudest snorers in the world, one talked in his sleep, and my roommate insisted on putting the ac at 17 degrees. I have been to 14 mad monkeys, this one the worst
WiFi is working only for 3 meters near the reception. I don't mention about the rooms, totally not WiFi at all. You can't be a hostel chain with pools and describe yourself as a fancy hostel chain with hostels all over Philippines and not having a WiFi that works. That's the first thing you should do. The staff is helpful but they are forced from senior management to act like they are super happy every hour of the day so it's obvious that is a fake behaviour. It's clean though.
Das Hostel war in Ordnung würden es aber sehr wahrscheinlich nicht erneut buchen. Die Bettschränke waren sehr staubig ansonsten aber soweit sauber. Das Personal war freundlich aber sehr unaufmerksam. Bartender wollte Sachen verrechnen die man nicht konsumiert hat, sie hatten oft kein Rückgeld man musste warten und immer wieder nachfragen! Essen war gut.
The hostel was in order but they would most likely not book it again. The bed cabinets were very stocky otherwise but so far clean. The staff was friendly but very uncaring. The bartender wanted to bill things you hadn't consumed, they often had no refunds you had to wait and keep asking!
Very strange stay. staff knew nothing, we asked about trips, what’s included, prices etc and just got ‘not sure’ everytime but with no offer to find any information out for us. we left a night early, would have left earlier but budget travelling meant we didn’t want to full waste our money🥲…

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and the location was excellent reception team helped me a lot with my tric transfer . Also they have nightly activities were it made me easy to socialize and a welcome free cocktail too. Definitely a recommended hostel when you stay here in Dumaguete a 10 out of 10.
I had an amazing stay at Mad Monkey! The staff were incredibly friendly specially Brenda she made sure my food is on time.All staff made the whole experience even better. The place is very clean, peaceful, and well-maintained perfect for relaxing. There are also so many activities to enjoy like golf, biking, swimming, billiards, and even fun night events, so you’ll never get bored. I truly enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun yet relaxing stay!

Great hostel, service was exceptional, really went out of there way to make your stay as comfortable as possible, like early check ins etc. Special shout-out to Marco who was running the events there, great quizzes and games nights, definitely will be back. :)
The hostel is absolutely gorgeous, rooms are clean & bed is so comfortable! The staff are so so wonderful, super helpful and friendly! Really loved it here
My stay was mazing! Right from the moment I enter until I checked out. All Receptionists there are very accommodating they assisted me throughout my stay, very informative too! They gave me ideas in what to do during my stay. My bed is also the best! Huge for a solo traveler like me. Very clean! Housekeeping was very attentive to every request I asked specially Hannah. Food, it was the best! Try their pizza! You'll crave for it. Met their GM too and gave me free coffee. Very nice guy! The bes...
The best beds out of all hostels I have ever slept in.
This was my second stay at the hostel, and it was just as great as the first. The place is clean, comfortable, and in a very convenient location. The atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed. Special mention to the staff for their consistent friendliness and excellent service—they truly make every stay memorable. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back again!

Nothing negative to say about this hostel. As someone who works remotely, their internet is great!
Lovely hostel and the staff here are so lovely and amazing. I was on crutches and they could not have been more helpful. Defo recommend

Had a very good experience at Mad Monkey Hostel. The place is clean, safe, and well-maintained. The staff are welcoming and always ready to help. I would definitely stay here again.
Great food! I had the pasta, pizza, and drinks there(They have happy hour! Which is affordable) and they were all delicious🤤 Also, shoutout to the Reception staff, they were so accommodating! Such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, also GE and bar staff we had a fun time talking with my favorite cocktail. See you soon friendly staff.
I loved my stay here. Although the hostel was almost empty, there was a good vibe. I mainly hung with the staff, who really did there best to entertain me by playing pool and teaching me how to make cocktails. Loved it! Dorms are cute and clean! Big bed as well. Would recommend!
A little heads up about the festival would have been cool... Nice bands though, but lack of sleep didn't give me sufiencient energy tp deal with this.
We had an awesome experience at Mad Monkey, Dumaguete. The place has a fun, social vibe while still being comfortable and clean. The rooms and common areas were well maintained, and it was easy to meet other travelers. A special shoutout to KZ! she was super helpful and kind during our stay. She always took the time to answer questions, give local tips, and make sure everyone felt welcome. Her positive energy made a huge difference!
I had a great time playing golf - the vibe was full of energy and laughter it was impossible not to have fun. Everyone was so friendly, and the game brought out such a great sense of connection and competition. It's honestly one of the highlights of my stay. Mad Monkey knows how to turn even a casual game into an unforgettable experience!
