Weltempfänger Backpacker Hostel

I stayed at your hostel for one night on, and unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience. The room was extremely hot and stuffy there was no proper ventilation. In addition, it was very noisy due to the street traffic outside, which made it even harder to rest. I was unable to sleep the entire night, felt unwell the next morning, and even woke up swollen and covered in mosquito bites. The room conditions were far below a basic standard of comfort and made proper rest completely unreal...

Unsure on the stay, but requested for a refund since accidentally booked for wrong Thursday. Wrote email on same day (and 7 days prior to stay) with no response and was charged the total of stay. Never had this happened before and recognized it’s my fault too but wish that the place could have at least write an email to address concern. This is ordinary customer service that is lacking. Will be careful on booking from here on out.

Hostel double-charged me and now it is impossible to get in touch with them. Not acceptable.

Staff was incredibly rude, she said she would not wait for me to check in because other guests had already checked in earlier. Made me do late check in, even though I was on time. The link didn’t work so I called and I could do in person check in. The woman behind the counter continued to complain that she had waited the whole day for me and made me feel like I should not have come. Would not recommend, for one night it’s fine, for longer, go elsewhere.

I only stayed one night but my stay wasn’t pleasant. Check in closes at 8 and my train was delayed so it was really stressful setting up late check in with no staff there but otherwise the rooms were boiling making it really hard to sleep especially with the noise coming from the street. The rooms were also super cramped so that when I entered the door opended onto a bunk. The beds also only had USB-A to charge and not a proper outlet so I couldn’t charge anything.

The kitchen was great but the rooms were way too cramped which made it awful in the heat. The mattress was comfortable but my bunk bed was in the way of the door and it wasn’t very secure, would move every time I climbed up

Wegen dem Straßenlärm , war es entweder zu laut oder zu warm im Zimmer. Die Beleuchtung am Bett könnte man nicht vollständig ausschalten und es gab keine Vorhänge um das Bett auszudenken. Check in und Out waren unkompliziert und die Mitarbeiterin sehr freundlich.

Hostel sombre et sale. Malgré un personnel agréable l’hostel ne donne pas envie d’y rester. Les douches et les WC étaient sales, de même pour la cuisine commune. Les chambres n’étaient pas accueillantes avec du mobilier vieux et défectueux. En effet, les casiers étaient cassés et ne fermaient pas. Je ne recommande pas cet hostel.

The lady when I checked out is unfriendly and she made me regret staying there . Every thing was nice when I check in tell I check out the lady when I check in was very helpful and the guy was in the morning very professional. But after I come back to get my luggage. I asked her if I can use the bathroom. She ask me if I’m checked out then she start want to manipulate me to use the bathroom . And I had to go with out using the bathroom with her try to make it like my life is in her hand now

Unser Zimmer war komplett abgewohnt. Von Bohrlöchern in den Wänden und schief hängender Badtür abgesehen, war die Luft muffig. Bettlaken und die Bettdecke waren dreckig, als Steigerung waren an der Decke Flecken, die aussahen wie Schimmel. (Fotos vorhanden) Wir haben direkt wieder ausgechecked. Die Mitarbeiterin sagte uns, wir sollen eine Mail schreiben - haben wir gemacht. Die Antwort war sehr ernüchternd. Nie wieder!

Staff were lovely and very accommodating and the location is fantastic. It's Right next to publicbtransport, close enough to the centre and far enough from the big tourist hotspots. The kitchen is fully equipped and good for meeting other guests but not the cosiest common area. Minus points for the badly working shower, very shaky bunk beds, stuffy rooms, smelly ensuite bathroom and overall value for money. The latter seems to be an issue in all of Köln rather than specifically for this host...

The location is a bit far from the central but the area itself was great with a lot of restaurants, the breakfast setup is messy and just anything thrown with very little to offer but better than nothing. It is walkable from central where the Dom church is as I did, took about a good 30mins, but there are also local things to see.Overall I like it and will stay again.

the lockers were way too small and the shower was laughable due to the fact it turns of every 2 seconds, however we loved it here and the free fruit and coffee was a lovely bonus, would recommend

Well.. everything is super, especially for this price. Cant complain, lost for words 🤷🏻‍♀️

Location is great, the strip is filled with food and vintage shopping. There is nearby laundromat to use. The kitchen is well equipped although you might need to buy oil as it is not supplied. The dorms are nice, no curtains and the locker space is extremely small, and they will charge €30 if you lose the lock/key which is a tad extortionate, but nevertheless a good place to stay. Although it is not particularly social, nor does it have a common room really.

Overall a nice cozy hostel. It’s close to the U-bahn that can get you to the centre in around 10 minutes. Staff is friendly and overall looks clean. They even offer a lot of free food like fruit, coffee, bread and breakfast things as butter, jam etc. The only minor downside is that the common room is a little small and when it’s busy, it gets humid, but that can be avoided by opening windows. Also the shower was clean, but you have to press the button each 5-10 seconds or else it closes auto...

An amazing hostel!! The people were so fun, everyone was very social. The staff were friendly and the kitchen very well equipped with basic spices, fruits, and breads. Location was close to the U-ban. A bit of a walk to the centre, but nothing crazy. The only thing was the shower doesn’t last very long; literally 10 seconds before you have to push it in again. This was rather frustrating, but as I was only there a couple days not the biggest deal. Would stay again.

Excelente lugar, la chica de recepción super amable y hablaba español, no tienen servicio de desayuno pero puedes tomar café, té, pan y fruta de la cocina. los cuartos algo pequeños pero muy limpios.

Positives: clean, easy to find, close to restaurants and supermarkets, large well equipped kitchen, friendly check in staff Negatives: no privacy curtains on the bunk beds, shower turns off every few seconds, dorm doors have to be locked from the inside with a key

This is a great, cozy hostel, with a nice kitchen. It's not the kind of hotel that is Instgarammable, but that's a good thing. Also, there is a later check-out time than most places at 12 noon, which is very convenient. The location is not central, but there is a U-Bahn entrance just a few metres from the building door. There is a kitchen with a hob and oven that also serves as a modest common room, allowing for some socialisation with other guests. All in all, a well-run hostel.

helpful and friendly bunch - from staff to other guests. welcoming kitchen/common space and a decent bit of food to choose from (plus only a stone’s throw away from kiosks/corner shops and Aldi Süd). wish i’d booked another night before they were out of beds!

Nous avons été très bien accueillis dans cette superbe auberge de jeunesse. Elle est très bien située dans Cologne, il est ensuite possible de tout faire à pied! Le réceptionniste nous a donné beaucoup de conseils a notre arrivée et ça nous a bien aidé sur les différentes activités à faire à Cologne. La cuisine est très bien équipée. Nous recommandons cette auberge !

Insgesamt ein erfreulicher Aufenthalt, einziges Manko: weder Strom noch Micro USB Anschluss am Bett ist im Jahre 2026 nicht mehr akzeptabel.

El personal muy amable, te explica todo, además el lugar está bien cuidado, muy buena limpieza, las habitaciones son grandes tienes espacio para moverte. Lo mejor te dan cositas gratis para comer. El lugar 1000/10
