Loch Ness Lochside Hostel

Abgeranzte Hütte mit viel zu wenig Toiletten und nicht abschließbaren Duschen. Auch die Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig.

Unfortunately really dirty room, didn’t feel cleaned.

The room was tiny, we could not get the heating to work, and the carpets looked like they had never been cleaned or vacuumed. It looked nothing like the pictures online. All in all, it was quite expensive for what was offered.

Horrible experience. Only booked a room because my friend recommended this hostel during her trip to Scotland a few years ago but it seems a lot has changed since then. Checking in, I was rudely greeted by a staff member because I had entered through the wrong door (mind you I was 50m away from the actual entrance). (EDIT: I didn’t see a mop or any cleaning supplies as claimed by the manager of the hostel and even if they were cleaning the area - in my opinion it didn’t warrant such an over...

The staff on 04/05/25 were extremely rude and abruptly canceled the reservation. Words cannot fully express the hardship we faced as a result. The experience of dealing with them was beyond frustrating. I would give it a -5/10—the worst booking I have ever encountered. I strongly discourage using this service and would not recommend it to anyone.

Of all the hostels on the great glen way this was by far the worst - avoid at all costs. Kitchen and common areas were dirty, bedroom was absolutely tiny in a portacabin and smelt so damp. Showers also smelt bad. There were more volunteers than guests and everyone in my room said it felt very cliquey and like we were intruding on their private house party. The staff worked on 04/05/25 were very rude and immediately canceled the reservation. I have no words to describe how much we struggled. Dealing with these people was extremely frustrating. I would rate this experience -5/10—the worst booking I have ever had. I strongly advise against using this service and do not recommend it.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding the unacceptable experience I had with your hotel on the night of 04/05/2025. I had a confirmed booking for that date and called ahead to confirm check-in arrangements. I was informed that check-in would be available after 11:00 PM. Looked like a lovely place but we didn’t get to stay as the manager evicted us because we had a minibus and trailer. We were unloading and were about to move the vehicle. He took exception to us and told us we had to leave. It put us in a tricky situation as I’m the support driver for a canoe group and the person with me had come off the water as she’d become unwell. Séjour incroyable à Lockside Hostel. Ambiance très décontractée et surtout extrêmement chaleureuse. Dès le matin, tout est réuni pour passer un moment unique : les gens parlent à voix basse, une petite musique douce en fond, le poêle à bois… et surtout cette vue magnifique sur le loch. Auberge vraiment sympa belle et bien entretenu le personnel super sympa elle est situé à côté du loch ness et puis se réveiller le matin avec le bruit des vagues c'est génial
