Horizon Resort & Hostel

Ameisen überall, überall Schimmel, es riecht super moderig dort, nach unserem Aufenthalt der nur eine Nacht war, rochen unsere ganzen Klamotten nach dem moderigen Zimmer. Die Ameisen fühlten sich am wohlsten dort. Die Decke war eine Tagesdexke mit vielen Flecken.

Not great, all sorts of bugs and spiders in the room. Room was boiling hot and mattresses were very uncomfy - lovely staff though but wouldnt recommend

Despite the lovely owners and proximity to the Main Street of Sigirya (and the rocks) I would advise being wary of booking here. The rooms were INSANELY damp and I left with all my clothes that had stayed in my bag being very damp. There was also clearly lots of black mould all over the walls that had been painted over. When you lie in your bed for more than one minute you become damp instantly. The family who runs it are lovely however and provide a great breakfast.

Das Mehrbettzimmer war so stickig und roch ziemlich schlecht, dass ich die zweite Nacht umziehen musste. Wenn es nicht so heiß ist, ist es wahrscheinlich in Ordnung. Alles in allem aber maximal Basic und nicht sonderlich gut. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett.

Leider hatte ich viel Schimmel in meinem Zimmer, was für eine Nacht aushaltbar war. Bei meiner Ankunft wurde ich nicht wirklich empfangen und bekam keine Erklärungen. Ich weiß nicht, ob’s an der Sprache lag? Dadurch fühlte mich jedoch nicht sehr willkommen. Erst am Morgen danach bei meinem Check-out kamen mir der Sohn und der Mann sehr freundlich entgegen. Die Lage ist sehr gut.

Quite Hostel in a good location, unfortunately we had a snake and a frog coming into our bathroom at night even though the door was closed..

Family ran hostel and the couple were very nice and helpful. Made breakfast for you every morning. The hostel is in a good location just a short walk from a view of lions rock. There were lots of bugs in the room but they do provide a mosquito net. There was also a dog that barked through the night both nights during our stay making it difficult to sleep. The man was considerate and understood when we checked out one night early.

Staff immediately wanted to know what we were doing/up to/ life story. Didn’t really read the room well as we told them we were tired and wanted to work out our planning. Nonetheless, very friendly. Bunkbed had a thin foam mat which was quite uncomfortable. Bathroom was covered in red ants that also walked over the toilet seat. When we asked staff to get rid of them they brushed them away with a broom. No mozzie nets which would have been useful. Private room had a good mattress though (+net...

C’est propre, mais à part ça… pas d’ambiance, les hôtes ne donnent pas de conseils, le déjeuner est moyen, les matelas sont plutôt inconfortables, rien n’est barré… je ne comprends pas pourquoi la note est aussi haute en ce moment malheureusement.

Ehrlicherweise hatte ich mir bei einer Bewertung von über 9 mehr erwartet als ein Haus am Straßenrand, Hostel kann man es meiner Meinung nach nicht so wirklich nennen.

Fantastic place

Unfassbar nette Familie. Wir haben 2 mal verlängert weil es uns dort so gut gefallen hat. Die Lage ist perfekt, dieselt an der Main Route und nicht weit entfernt vom Lion Rock. Die Familie war zudem sehr hilfsbereit. Der Sohn der Familie war immer erreichbar und konnte direkt immer helfen. Das Frühstück war zudem auch sehr lecker und genug. Wir hatten auch ein kleines Ameisen Problem im Bad, aber auch nicht so dramatisch.

Our room was nice. The people were really nice. Breakfast was great!!

sehr sehr gastfreundliche familie, leckeres frühstück und sie haben für uns eine tolle safari organisiert!! die lage ist auch sehr gut und jedes zimmer hat ein eigenes bad dabei

So glad I stayed at Horizon. The location is perfect & the owners really care about hospitality. The owner‘s son Sithu will organize specific safari depending on the season and weather pattern. Sithu saved my trip. My phone shattered on my second day and he took HOURS out of his day to help get me a new phone. That goes to show how the family will truly make you feel at home. I stayed in a private but this property is more bed and breakfast vibes but still met people because of tables outsid...

A very clean and well-maintained establishment, ideally located and offering a welcoming atmosphere. The overall experience was excellent, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort and a great ambiance.

Such a good place

Wonderful family run hostel. They are kind a d there to help with whatever you might need. She was able to accommodate my need for a Gluten Free breakfast with no issues. Would stay here again!

Made the mistake of booking a night later then our arrival. Owner was very hospitable and let us stay that night instead of having to book again. What a legend!

Very nice and calm stay in beautiful nature, close to Lion’s rock. I had the breakfast included which was delicious, the owner wasn’t there but very easy to arrange a jeep safari with him through whatsapp, his parents were super kind and friendly hosts. And yes there are bugs in the evening, that’s normal, but there’s a net you can put over your bed so you can sleep without any worries :) Highly recommend this place!

Such a beautiful hostel! The family running the hostel are so sweet and caring! They helped a lot with helping us book tuk tuks and sharing any information! The breakfast is delicious and the place is super clean and comfortable ! Location is great and walking distance to lots of places ans restaurants!

Amazing. The breakfast is unreal! And the staff are all very accommodating. I wouldn’t say it is a very ‘social’ hostel however it is still nonetheless great.

Family was so sweet and considerate. There was an intense bug problem but I’d you think of it like camping you’ll be good to go!
