Coral Reef Surf Hostel

I‘m not particularly picky with my stays but this hostel is by far the worst I’ve ever stayed in. Place looks like it’s about to fall apart, noisy 24/7, kitchen and bathroom are unhygienic and woke up to a dead mouse beside my bed, which wasn’t there when I went to sleep. Everything is dimly lit and the overall atmosphere is quite disturbing. I got out of that place as soon as I could and absolutely DO NOT recommend to stay here by any means.

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!!!! I know It’s cheap but it’s absoultely NOT worth it!!!!! I’m sorry to say this because but I think the place have potential cause of where it’s located BUT- It was a HORRIFIC STAY!!! We were supposed to stay 6 days but after 3 nights we noticed our beds were FILLED with bedbugs… It was disgusting and we hade to sanitate EVERYTHING we owned and had nowhere to sleep that night. On top of that- a smell of poop filled the room Every morning. The staff was not help...

This hostel is well located. This is the only positive point. The staff is not welcoming and you have the feeling to disturb each time you ask a question or when kids are a bit playing. The kitchen isn't very convenient. Fridge is full but not organized properly. Most of the doors of the toilets are not closing. Showers are clean in the morning only. Rest of the day, forget about it. Atmosphere is not good. Pass your way.

Unfortunately this was the worse hostel we have stayed in costa rica. The staff we’re hardly around so we couldn’t rent towels. The kitchen was extremely dirty, and the bathroom facilities were filthy with black mold everywhere and two of the 4 toilets with no lights and another with a door that won’t close. Our first room had no working lights and the one we got moved too had air conditioning stuck on. The staff tried to double charge us at there bar next door, it’s also next to a loud ...

great location, AC in the rooms, good beds and lockers. But really not the best smiling and useful staff. Bathrooms were really not that clean.

the staff is very kind but the hostel is not that great. there is no atmosphere, so you won't meet anyone there. the room smell humidity, the toilet are not that clean. the all family is hanging out in the communal area, and there is kids that cry and yell at 7 in the morning. it would not be a problem if the rooms were isolated but you can hear every single things from outside...

Die Unterkunft hat eine gute Lage und eine gute Ausstattung. Es waren jedoch überall Kakerlaken. Viele Wäscheleine was gut war.

Great location, nice staff. Bathrooms were a little dirty but it was fine for the money.

Hostel manager is amazing - she has such a good energy and helps you with everything you might be needing. Unfortunately the hostel is super loud at night, as it is right in the center next to loud bars and a club. If you’re in Tamarindo to party, it might be great for you, but don’t expect to chill/ sleep well. Also the beds are super uncomfortable and kitchen is really small. Everything was clean though and you have all the necessities you need

It was not my best hostel experience. It was really really really noisy at night, almost as if there was no wall. The bathroom could be a lot cleaner. The place is really old and the common room needs renovation. Overall it was not so bad, I felt safe and we had air conditioner in the room, but for the price I would not go back.

Bueno entre precio y calidad. Ubicación ideal el cuarto austero. No hay agua caliente

Nice hostel. Good kitchen. Everyone was friendly. We were only there for 2 nights but it was good

really well located in the heart of tamarindo and cheap for the area, reasonably clean especially for the price. the staff were friendly but not a lot of atmosphere, maybe there just weren't many people staying there at the time in low season. overall a good experience!

The discount at Longboards was the only thing keeping us from checking out early and finding somewhere else to stay. The man at the front desk was not welcoming, lots of ants in our room, and the bathroom area smelled like sewage most of the time. If you’re on a tight budget, go for it. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to anybody.

Bedbugs. At first I thought about giving them a break but a friend told me she stayed there 2 weeks ago and had bed bugs as well. Good place for the price but definitely should respect the guest a bit more by keeping the place clean.

Georgette was great to work with; so hospitable, helpful, knowledgeable, accommodating, and sweet. Once I discovered the shortcut to the beach (around the corner and down the alley) I went more frequently, And the smoothie/breakfast shop out front?! SO GOOD! I nearly cried when it was time to leave! Getting a discount at Longboard's was great too, especially when we found out, that's the happening spot!

Great bargain. Common areas clean enough for the price. AC always worked. Slight sewage smell occasionally, but that's fairly common in Tamarimdo. I'd stay here again.
