+ THIS LOCATION IS INFESTED WITH COCKROACHES AND RATS AND THE MANAGER STEPHANIE ORCAN KNOWINGLY SERVES FOOD TO GUESTS AND STAFF THAT HAS BEEN FEASTED ON BY RATS AND COCKROACHES. SHE HERSELF WONT CONSUME THE FOOD BUT HAS NO ISSUE WITH GUESTS PUTTING THAT INTO THEIR BODIES. THEY SERVE OLD EXPIRED MEATS FOR THE GRILL NIGHTS AND THE BATHROOMS HAVE REALLY BAD MOLD WHICH IS CONSTANTLY BEING BREATHED IN. I’VE FILED CASES WITH THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT OF SAN DIEGO AND THEY CURRENTLY HAVE A CASE OPEN FOR THE INFESTATION THAT THEY REFUSE TO ERADICATE. PLEASE BE CAREFUL ABOUT PUTTING ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE INTO YOUR BODY. PLEASE!!!
- IN THE BEGINNING THE AURA WAS GREAT UNTIL YOU FIND COCKROACHES IN THE BEDDING ( PILLOWCASES) ALIVE CRAWLING ON YOUR BED SPACES WHILE YOURE ASLEEP. AGAIN, THEY HAVE AN OPEN CASE IVE FILED TODAY ALONG WOTH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE FIRE MASHAL. PLEASE BE AWARE!!! BE MINDFUL OF THE MOLD AS WELL!!!

- מלוכלך, קטן וצפוף, רועש- השותפים לחדר לא התחשבו בלילה. מקלחת ושירותים לא נעימים. ארוחת בוקר לא בדיוק קיימת, אפשר להכין לעצמך או לא ברור בדיוק מה הולך ובכל מקרה הכלים שם מלוכלכים, העדפתי לוותר על להשתמש בהם. (ותאמינו לי שאני לא מפונק😄)

+ Close to the beach
- This was the worst hostel I have stayed in. My friend and I even considered sleeping in our car one night a we felt more comfortable there. The dorms are distrusting, there was empty bottles and food left everywhere from past travellers without staff cleaning, the surfaces and floor were covered in dirt. The bathrooms looked and smelt like they had not been cleaned in months, the odour was almost unbearable, shower covered in mould. I couldn’t bring myself to sit in the common areas due to it being so filthy, I felt uncomfortable my entire stay due to the cleanliness of this hostel.
+ Location.
- Two main problems. First, I arrive tired around 11pm and there is a guest sleeping in my bed. It takes me a while to find a hostel employee and when I do, he just asks me to choose any other empty bed. Second problem, I waited from 7am to 8am and no breakfast was served. During this waiting period, there was no hostel employee. Other guests also waited and nothing...
+ Make sure you follow all the rules are you will get kicked out they will not hesitate. Make sure that you put your name on every single thing that you own or it will grow legs and walk off and no one will give a crap. I looked at the place where you were supposed to cook and I decided, some money on breakfast instead of cooking there I would do a lot of research before I decided to stay there if you’ve never been there before I would pass if it was me, I’d never stay there again. I was told you could bring a bike when I got there was there were bikes everywhere.
- The place is super run down and smells very strongly from all the weed people smoke in there. The surfing equipment is old and not much. Overall, not at all like in the fotos. We decide to check out 15 minutes after checking in and booked a different place close by. We were promised a refund for the 2nd and 3rd night, but the refund never came. If you want to go surfing in San Diego, there are a couple of alternatives. We would also recommend Ocean Beach over Mission Beach!

Best Hostel I have stayed in so far - if you like surfing and beach vibes come here. Wish I could have stayed longer!
it's cozy, good/neutral vibes from the staff, Sergio was a really cool guy. The location of the place is amazing if you wanna hang around the beach. The staff organized a volleyball game between the guests and it was a fun time to gather and later we all enjoyed a bonfire with marshmallows.
Lots of fun but definitely a party hostel in the evenings. Lots of opportunities to drink, karaoke, and go out. Everyone was super friendly, but at times it could feel a little clicky from staff. Definitely join the WhatsApp group to join spontaneous events and keep in the loop! Docking some points for maintenance, the ladder to my bunk was missing screws and flailing around. Beds were missing privacy curtains, and not a lot of opportunities for charging devices.
Beach Bungalow is a one of a kind hostel. By far my favorite out of everywhere I have been. There was always something to do from Karaoke to volleyball in the beach. The location is CRAZY. Right on the beach and walking distance to stores, clubs, and bars. Sammy was an amazing host for the events and Stephanie ran the place very well. 10/10. Definitely coming back soon!!
This place was great overall. Good vibes from the staff and most of the people staying there as well. The hostel is located right off the beach, so definitely worth every penny.
The location is great, and so is the staff. But from an amenities perspective, I stayed in the female dorm and not all the beds had privacy curtains (no plan to fix them), the section I was in had one functional plug point of which one was being used for the AC, which went out the next night effectively leaving us without any charging point. The living room/ deck is too small and I rarely found an opportunity to hang out if I wasnt joining in the party that happened every night.
Friendly staff & travelers, can’t beat the vibes here. My room was clean and had a great view. Thanks again ✌️

fun, vibrant party hostel right on the beach walkway. great staff and comfy beds (two pillows !!) lots of events at least on weekends.
Here during spring break. Staff is the best! Very friendly, and present. Always helpful. It is definitely geared for the 20- 30’s crowd. If you’re looking for zen and privacy, this is not for you. I had a small bathroom in the cottage and that was great. There were plenty of seating areas outside of the cottage in the common areas, which was nice. Everyone in general was very nice, respectful, and just wanted to have a good time. You can’t beat the location, on the beach.
