Guesthouse Maria

Everything was terrible. Unfriendly host who pretends not to speak English, came to scream at us only a few minutes after check-out time and was rude and unreasonable throughout. We paid cash for the stay and didn’t even get full change back. Couldn’t be bothered to argue for the sake of a little money. Far from the old town with poor transport links. Wouldn’t recommend anything.

The main reason I’m giving this hostel a lower rating is just because I was only there for 12 hours and my experience wasn’t overtly positive or negative. The host was sweet and kind when she checked me in. The bed was comfortable. The grocery store was close. I felt safe walking there by myself from the bus station. I loved the city itself when I was there but be warned that the hostel is quite far from all the things to see (old town, beaches, ocean views).

Ich kann das Hostel bedingt empfehlen. Die Besitzerin spricht kein English ,konnte keine Frage beantworten. Es klingelte mehrfach die Nacht, die Katze miaute die ganze erste Nacht und das Wasser war auch kalt. Für eine Nacht ist es ok.

The place is great if you go just for a couple of nights, it’s near from the bus station, like 15 min walking but it’s uphill so it’s tired with your luggage. You can walk to old town for 30 minutes or take bus 8 for €2.5 And you need to pay in cash

A nice space close to the bus station and ferry port. Well supplied kitchen. Good bus routes close by.

Maria was a lovely host! She suggested nearby supermarkets and bus stops and was very sweet. The place is like a flat - good air con, well stocked kitchen, clean. If you’re looking for a sociable hostel, this is not it, but we just wanted to relax alone so it was perfect. The walk to the old town is an easy 35 minutes. The balcony in the double room is a big plus. Thanks for our stay Maria!

Nos dejaron hacer el check-in antes lo cual agradecemos porque estaba lloviendo y acabábamos de llegar. Aunque habla poco inglés la comunicación fue bastante fácil. En la cocina había todo lo necesario para cocinar y se encuentra a unos 30min del centro pero si no queréis caminar está a 5min de la parada de autobús.

It's a good place to stay with very nice owners! The kitchen was well equipped and our room had everything we needed. ;) There were only two rooms occupied during our stay so the shared bathroom was okay. But I'm afraid, if the property would be fully booked, one bathroom may not be enough. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay, were satisfied and recommend this place!!

Excellent guest house and Maria was a wonderful host. Spotlessly clean and we were sorry we only booked 1 night.

This stay was WONDERFUL! Maria is so warm and welcoming - she allowed us in around 6:00am when we arrived by night bus from Albania and helped store our things, promising to clean our room as soon as the previous guests leave so that we could check in sooner. Before we left, we asked Maria if she had a laundry machine we could use, and instead she carefully washed and hung all of our clothes for us, free of charge. It was such a kind gesture! The guesthouse and host were both very lovely. The guesthouse is near the docks and a bus stop which is useful for visiting the old town or a sail Croatia trip. The privacy was nice and the other guests were as well.

Majda was like a home away from home, she was so kind and welcoming. She had incredible stories. The private room was very comfortable. Do be careful of bugs though, I had been traveling for a week before this and only got three bug bites. Here I got over 30 in the one night I stayed.

Great clean rooms, kitchen has everything you could need, and large shared bathroom. Maria was super helpful giving us info on what bus to get for where we wanted to go, and allowing us to leave our bags until our ferry later in the day. Location is pretty good with a bus stop 1 minute up the road.

Perfect spot if you’re spending some few days in Dubrovnik! About 10 min from the busstation. They were very nice and welcoming!

Really nice place. Maria and her daughter Mariana are wonderful and kind. We arrived quite late at night and were welcomed with a smile. Cash only and they didn't have change on our arrival but we figured it out without issue the next day.

Our experience at Maria's guest house was exceptional. On the day of check-in, we encountered a minor issue with payment, but Maria was incredibly understanding and graciously allowed us to settle it later. Her guest house is spotless and well-maintained, and the location is perfect—right across from the bus station with easy access to the old town. Plus, there's a supermarket nearby for convenience. 10/10. Spacious, quiet, comfortable room, a well stocked kitchen, And a kind host all for a good price.

Staying at Maria’s place was a wonderful and convenient experience. First off, Maria is the sweetest! Even though her English is limited, we managed to communicate and she was as caring as a mom. The location is perfect for anyone needing to be close to the bus terminal since the Old Town is a bit of a walk from there. The place was spotless my bed was super comfy. It felt more like staying at home than at a hostel, which was exactly what I was looking for.
