The Salty Dogs Hostel - El Tunco

People here were lovely and good kitchen space and some hammocks to chill, location wasn’t great and had to uber everywhere. Stayed in the 12 bed dorm and when I was there the bathroom was dirty with a bad smell and the room was very messy as people left stuff everywhere

Nice hostel with new facilities and friendly staff . But we didn’t like the location - not a lot going on and the nearby beach was a bit grim.

nice staff and vibe. there are no lockers in the room and considering that people keep getting stolen of shoea or othar belongings (mainlybshoes and towels), it doesn't make you feel safe

The staff are super friendly, and the hostel facilities are amazing, great rooms, an awesome kitchen, pool, and right in front of the beach... The location wasn’t my favorite (far from the center and the beach out front wasn’t the nicest), but the hostel itself was so good I didn’t mind staying in. Would recommend, but probably wouldn’t return bc location 🙂

Good: Pool Decent shower Social areas Kitchen Not good: Not enough toilets / showers No lockers Nowhere for your belongings Not cleaned regularly enough The bunks are weird heights and the wood is not finished so you get splinters Heard two of the owners make racial ‘jokes’/comments to an Indian guest during the salsa class in front of other guests. I’m also Indian and found it uncomfortable. The kind of jokes you’d hear in 2006 from someone that only has white friends. Did you turn 34 ...

Location of this hostel is unbelievable- right by the beach! The dogs are absolutely gorgeous and love attention. Kitchen is well stocked and the hostel is kept nice and clean. The hostel is brand new so there’s some renovations still happening but nothing major, it’s still a chill vibe especially with the pool and hammocks. Definitely recommend staying here

Best hostel in the el sal hands down. The hostel super clean, amazing vibes and great family activites and meals. Ryan and jimmy have created the ultimate chill/surf hostel. Bravo

The vibe here is great, Ryan is a lovely owner and it feels much more like a home stay than a hostel. I would 100% recommend staying here. Beds were comfy, aircon in room, a lot of space in a 4 bed dorm. Bathroom was standard. Be mindful it’s a 15 minute drive to the main town (el Tunco). Thanks guys!

Het hostel is zooo gezellig, goeie voorzieningen, goeie ligging (dichtbij de winkels en het zandstrand) en het personeel is geweldig

Awesome place with a great vibe. Super social, excellent kitchen pool and organised activities. Beds in the dorm were very comfortable and great pillows. 10/10 would stay again!

We loved everything about this hostel

I absolutely loved my stay at Salty Dogs! This hostel has managed to create that perfect vibe of both social and chill. The communal kitchen is huge and very well-equipped. The pool is perfect for cooling off in the heat, and all the pups are so sweet. The hostel is within walking distance of a full-sized grocery store, a local pupuseria, and about a 20-min walk from Playa San Blas, which is perfect for sunset hangs. The staff is very helpful, and I would 100% stay here again.

It a very chill Hostel with nice common areas and free mangos. If you want to REALLY chill its the best. There is not to much to do in el tunco en general and in that area even less. I woul recommend for Surfers not so much for beginners. El tunco eally not the place to learn to Surf and the hostel is most about surfing. But if you advanced its a real cool place

Great time!! Wished we could have stayed longer. Lovely big kitchen and really enjoyed extra activities like the painting etc

Bestes Hostel in dem ich bis jetzt war. Würde es jedem weiterempfehlen. Hätte noch paar Wochen länger dort bleiben können. Ich wünsche dem Team ganz viel Erfolg für die Zukunft ❤️

Super safe and quiet location. The pool is very nice and appreciated the complimentary pizza. The only recommendation would be is for the cleaning crew to empty the bathroom rubbish bins daily as it accumulates quite rapidly.

Best stay at Salty Dogs! A beautiful hostel, well ran and felt so comfortable. Highlights: Massive space, not cramped into a tiny room, able to open my bag fully with space to spare. Staff around to help whenever you need. Events organised so super easy to meet people. Comfy and spacious beds with curtains. Super clean, constantly someone cleaning the different areas. Only consideration is the location. It’s not in El Tunco so we did have to taxi around a fair bit!
