Very rude and disrespectful manager. They don’t have a basic understanding of customer service.
Great bar and location right on the beach however the rooms were awful, private and private deluxe. The bedding was extremely cheap and stained and we saw a few rats and mice about. It would probably be the worst room I have ever paid for - there was no inclusion of beach yoga like advertised nor was their communal dinner free of charge like advertised. Some days the cleaners didn’t come to clean the room at all.
The staff at this hostel are some of the worst I have ever seen. I had booked a dorm for New Years eve six weeks prior to the date. When I arrived they said they had given my room to someone else and did not have any other availability. They refused to refund my deposit or provide any other accommodation. The management of this establishment need to seriously assess their staff. I was lnable to find any other accommodation for the evening and was left to sleep on the beach for the night. Absolut...
You’re just paying for the location and the sociable atmosphere here. They seriously need to invest in the facilities - broken toilet seats, leaking pipes in the toilet and shower, dark, damp rooms with holes in the doors and floor and mouldy sheets. I appreciate that it’s a ‘party hostel’ but pounding music until 4.30am every night right next to the rooms is excessive when compared to every other party hostel I’ve stayed in. I woke up with over 100 little bug bites all over my arms and legs, not sure if it was bedbugs or some other type of bug. Took 10 days for them to go away :(
The bathroom is full of mold and mosquitoes. The rooms have no key, so anyone can enter. In the hostel announcement says it has wifi in the rooms, but you can only have wifi in the main area. The staff doesn’t speak English very well and often gives wrong information or don’t know how to give any. The common area is really nice and the location also, but the rest leaves something to be desired.
This place could be amazing with a little bit more effort. Location is amazing and views are great and the area round the pool is pretty nice. Bathroom for dorm could use an upgrade. Atmosphere was alright, we were there near the end of the off season so would be way more lively in peak season.
Staff were quite unhelpful and rude at points. Not a good place to stay unless your there to party. Loud music until early hours of the morning every night

Great location right at the beach. Easy to meet other travellers as there is a bar where everybody meets up in the evening, even people from other hostels. If you wanna party, there will be people to join you, but I never felt like it's a typical party hostel.

Ik verbleef 4 nachten bij Drifters. Het is een super fijn hostel direct aan het strand. Binnen 10 minuten lopen ben je in het centrum van Paje. De sfeer is goed en zelfs in het laag seizoen zijn er veel andere reizigers, wat gezellig is, zeker als je solo reist. Het personeel is super vriendelijk en flexibel en ze serveren erg lekker eten! Als je van kitesurfen houdt is Paje een goede plek! Dus als je wilt chillen en leuke mensen wilt ontmoeten zou ik Drifters zeker aanraden :)
I stayed 4 nights at Drifters. It is a super nice hostel directly on the beach. Within 10 minutes walk you are in the center of Paje. The atmosphere is good and even in the low season there are many other travelers, which is nice, especially if you travel solo. The staff is super friendly and flexible and they serve very good food! If you like kitesurfing Paje is a good place! So if you want to chill and meet nice people I would definitely recommend Drifters:)
Super endroit directement sur la plage avec une belle piscine et une ambiance très sociale. La nourriture est très bonne et c’est un endroit parfait pour rencontrer d’autres voyageurs. On s’y sent aussi en sécurité, surtout pour les voyageuses solo, ce qui en fait un très bon choix pour voyager seul. Un autre gros point positif est qu’ils ont un générateur, ce qui permet d’avoir de l’électricité et la climatisation même pendant les coupures de courant. 🌴🌊
Great location directly on the beach with a beautiful swimming pool and a very social atmosphere. the food is very good and it is a perfect place to meet other travelers. one also feels safe, especially for solo female travelers, which makes it a very good choice for traveling alone. another big positive point is that they have a generator, which allows you to have electricity and air conditioning even during power outages.
Stayed in a private suite with a friend. Great value for money with all the facilities and the location in mind. Easy access to both more expensive restaurants on the waterfront, as well cheaper options towards the town centre. Also a great way to find and get to know other travelers. If you enjoy music and a party vibe, then this is the place for you. The hostel also offers a lot of activities and tours which we have taken advantage of.

Wonderful party hostel right in front of Paje beach. Super chill in the day and very social at night. great swimming pool and bar.Went for 3 days, stayed a week! Highly recommended.

J’adore le drifters ! J’y retourne depuis la toute première fois , en 2020 C’est l’endroit idéal pour rencontrer d’autres voyageurs solo , une ambiance festive et la nourriture est top !! Drifters nous marque , les connexions qu’on fait , le vibe décontracté , les petites fêtes jusqu’au levé du soleil C’est un hostel où on revient tout le temps
I love the drifters! i've been back since the very first time, in 2020 this is the perfect place to meet other solo travelers, a festive atmosphere and the food is top notch!! drifters make us famous, the connections we make, the casual vibe, the little parties until the sun comes up this is a hostel where you come back all the time
I had a great stay at Drifters Hostel in Zanzibar. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always smiling – they really make you feel welcome from the first moment. The dorms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with enough space. The common areas were nice for relaxing and meeting other travelers, and the atmosphere was very social but still chill. The sea is right infront of the door! I would definitely recommend Drifters Hostel to anyone traveling to Zanzibar!!
Virkelig hyggeligt sted. Min veninde og jeg havde planer om at blive 5 dage, men endte med at blive i 3 uger. Lokationen er fantastisk, lige ud til stranden. Medarbejderne er vildt søde. Min veninde og jeg er to 20 årige piger, og boede på pige dorm. Det er et virkeligt hyggeligt sted at møde andre unge. Perfekt sted, hvis du vil slappe af, kite surfe, spise tun sandwich, møde nye mennesker og udforske Zanzibar. De ligger ca 8 mind gang fra centrum, hvilket er perfekt, for så er der billig...
My wife and I had planned to stay for 5 days, but ended up staying for 3 weeks. The location is fantastic, right on the beach. The staff is wildly sweet. My wife and I are 20 years older, and we are sleeping on a pig bed. It's a really nice place to meet other young people. Perfect place, if you want to relax, kite surf, eat a sandwich, meet new people and explore Zanzibar. It's about 8 minds away from the center, which is perfect, because there is a cheap madhouse right around the corner.
Drifters is a amazing hostel, and I really enjoyed my stay there. My friend and I was just planning on staying for a week, and now we have been here for almost 3 weeks and just extended with a week more. There is a really nice vibe here, and a lot of other solo female travellers, so it is easy to find someone to talk to. I can really recommend the place and especially for female solo travellers. The place is also only 5 minutes walk by the beach to all the nice restaurants and bar
الإقامة في دريفتِرز دايمًا حلوة. ديفيد وكل الفريق ناس لطيفين ومريحين بالتعامل وبيعرفوا شغلهم، وهاد الشي بيعطي المكان جو مريح. الموقع عالبحر ممتاز، والمسبح دايمًا نظيف ومهتمين فيه. الإقامة مريحة وممتعة، وبصراحة صعب أفكّر أروح على مكان غيره. أكيد برجع له مرة ثانية
David and the whole team are nice and comfortable people to deal with and they know their job, and this thing gives the place a comfortable atmosphere. the location by the sea is excellent, the pool is always clean and we take care of it. the stay is comfortable and fun, and frankly it's hard to think of going anywhere else. i'll definitely go back again

Bin nun zum zweiten Mal bei Drifters gelandet und kann es nur jedem und jeder Backpacker:in empfehlen. Direkt am Strand, sehr nicer vibe und an kühlen Drinks und Bier hat es auch nie gefehlt.
I've landed at Drifters for the second time now and can only recommend it to any and all Backpacker:in.Direct am Strand, very nice vibe and a cool Drinks and Beer has never been lacking either.

Das hostel habe ich von Freunden empfohlen bekommen und empfehle es auch gerne weiter. Die Hütten sind nicht besonders ausgestattet, aber man hat alles was man braucht. Die Lage und der Pool, sowie die Chillareas sind der Mittelpunkt des ganzen. Das Essen war immer so lecker und ich vermisse die Chicken Wraps jetzt schon! Das Personal war auch immer super freundlich und es war schön die Abende mit ihnen an der Bar zu verbringen. Gerne komme ich wieder :)
The hostel was recommended to me by friends and I would be happy to recommend it again. the cabins are not particularly equipped but you have everything you need. the location and the pool, plus the chillareas are the center of it all. the food was always so delicious and i miss the chicken wraps now already! the staff was also always super friendly and it was nice to spend the evening with them at the bar. i would love to come back again :)

Super affordable hostel at the most amazing location! The toilets and bedsheets could be cleaner, but bedsheets are changed everyday and overall the staff is very nice and friendly to the guests! The location is amazing, you have access to the pool and the sea!
Drifter ist ein klassisches Backpacker Hostel. Die Lage ist fantastisch und es ist immer was los. Das Hostel ist extrem gut um sich mit anderen Reisenden zu connecten und interessante Menschen kennenzulernen. Besonders für Partybegeisterte eine gute Destination. Unangenehm aufgefallen ist mir allerdings der Umgang mit Händlern und Verkäufern jeglicher Art. Das Hostel duldet verschiedenste locals im Bar-Bereich die zuweilen äußerst penetrant werden!
The location is fantastic and there is always something going on. The hostel is extremely good for connecting with other travelers and meeting interesting people. Especially for party-goers a good destination. Unpleasantly, I noticed the interaction with dealers and sellers of all kinds. The hostel tolerated a variety of locals in the Bar-Area who sometimes become extremely penetrating!

Very cool hostel, nice pool area straight at the beach. The owner is peruvian and very nice. The accomandation is clean but not everything is closed so some cocroaches can get inside but is normal in such a natural accomandation. Food is also very good and cheap. I met the nicest people there.
