bedding too hard, staff unsmiling and no breakfast at 8:40, the other hostel in Vancouver is much better!

Whole building smells like old curry and the atmosphere isn’t very social.

Terrible company and inhuman treatment

I was asked to give a review, my review has nothing to do with the actual hostel, it looks like a wonderful hostel! I had a reservation here and called the hostel to try to change the dates of my stay because I was in an accident and had to take my truck to a mechanic so I wasn’t going to make my arrival on time. I was told I had to call Hostelworld to try to change my reservation so that I wouldn’t lose the $60 for the bed. I reached out to Hostelworld twice and they never did get back to m...

The Hostel is grossly, grossly overpriced. It is however a true reflection of the selfish, greedy grasping overpriced culture of the community in which it sits.

They were rude, rejected me, wanted my to pay extra and made me feel like I wasn't welcome. The place was dirty and the people at the reception felt like they were making fun of me and talking about me behind my back. I left the moment I arrived.

Its a hostel for people to stay at while looking for jobs, its not a good hostel for travelers who are looking for a fun time. It's s cold, dark and depressing. The dorm is cold, you can't charge your phone and the door makes a lot of noise.

Même pas de prise de courant dans le dortoir. La pire auberge que j’ai faite au canada ( montréal , banff , jasper, québec, toronto…) + NYC . Je ne recommande pas du tout celle ci , par ailleurs l’extinction est générale donc grande lumière pour tous au moins jusqu’à 23h. Personnel sympa mais auberge vraiment très vétuste et pas propre.

Half the toilets arent working, floor is dirty everywhere, wifi just doesn’t work, no AC is alright but at least give us a fan that blows SOME air… for the price, this is absolutely not a place i would recommend

Die Lage ist nicht optimal, etwa 10 Minuten Gehweg bis zur Bushaltestelle. Buslinie 4 (Mo-So) und Buslinie 44 (Mo-Fr) fahren nach Downtown

I with they had privacy curtains on the beds, but thats a personal preference, i like how the dorms are seperated in bunks of 4 and those sections have curtains, the bathrooms were really nice and clean. The towels were very small but i also didnt ask for a bigger one so who knows. The staff was super kind and helpful

Un peu déçue de ce hostel… on a trouvé des ciseaux et une batterie portative sous le matelas, ce qui laisse croire que le ménage n’était pas fait adéquatement… Odeur désagréable dans les dortoirs et pas de serviettes de douche disponibles pour nous. En toute honnêteté, mauvais rapport qualité-prix.

a little out of the way, but in a really beautiful area right by the beach. it’s very clean, lockers are nice, only with that the bunks had curtains.

I love this place, cleanliness is TOPS- keep it up! I was upset to find out there was no breakfast buffet which I had on another visit and didn't recall seeing that it wouldn't be available, but maybe I overlooked it. It was Vancouver marathon wknd so location was fine for a drive, but on foot...makes for an extra long marathon :P P.S. Always have change on you for laundry - $2 each.

I had a night close to UBC. The hostel is convenient and located in a nice park, just meters from the beach. Thanks for the hospitality.

My booking got moved to HI Vancouver Downtown. Glad for this change made it easier to commute to attractions, stores and get groceries quickly. Nice staff, friendly fellow travellers. Overall will definitely be back. Only 2 things could have improved rating electrical outage in kitchen and more hostel events. I know I chose a quiet time so less hostel events.

Very nice hostel! Beds are separated in blocks of 4, which is nice!… outlets and reading lights are provided for every bed. The washrooms were super clean and so was the bedding! The location, while in a super gorgeous and calm area, is a little “out of the way”, so be prepared for a roughly 45 minute commute into downtown (10-15 min walk to bus stop) + (25-30 minute bus)… assuming the bus shows up right away! Apart from that the staff were super helpful and I had a great stay!

This was a great place to stay. I stayed in a 14-person dorm (female) and was pleasantly surprised that the room was broken down into pods of 4, making it a little more private. They did identify that there was parking available but they should indicate that it is paid parking, which would increase the cost of the night stay.

Been to a lot of hostels but Samesun Granville is hands down the best hostel so far! Added bonus for a light, wall plug and privacy curtain for each bunk

Nice location (although Ubers needed to comfortably get back when dark at night), bathrooms clean. Stayed in a private room which was ok but dated and lumpy bed - however, the only real reason I would not stay again was the paper thin walls between rooms! I could literally hear everything from the people staying in rooms either side, even through my ear plugs - from coughing to late night conversations to every sigh, moan and groan of couples getting together! Not what you want!

Fantastic place to stay. Be warned that the upper bunk seats slightly when anyone moves. This was for a single bunk on top of a queen bottom bunk; standard bunks might be better.

Without a doubt the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at! Everyone was super friendly and while it is a bit far out of town, the bus is close and runs frequently. Jericho Beach itself is quite lovely and the area feels safe even for a single girl at night! Highly recommend!

Great place with a great atmosphere! I almost regret only staying two nights. The emergency exit sign by my bunk was too bright though and it was hard to sleep without throwing my sweater over it

I really liked this hostel. I found it old school in an utterly charming way. The kitchen is huge (yet cosy) and super equipt. I love the scenic one hour walk to the city. Don't be put off by the 18 bed dorm. I promise it's not how you're imagining it!! Its actually a gigantic breathy corridor split in to sections, so you kind of feel like you're in a 4 bed dorm. Bathrooms immaculate. I would definitely stay here again.

Overall the place was good, bus stop near by. Staff are helpful, the place and washrooms/showers mostly clean. Free breakfast. Its good location and service for the price.

Best hostel I’ve stayed in yet! Will be staying again :)
