Venice Beach Hostel

REALLY rundown property. Manager charges several extra fees including a $10 daily cleaning fee (the hostel is so dirty though). Rancid odor in TV room & female dorm (rm 210). Middle-aged, African-American male working there late night lacks customer service skills & wanted to kick me out of the hostel late at night b/c I told him he was rude. Breakfast was boiled eggs (1 per person), potatoes (I think) & do it yourself waffles. Only good thing about this place is the location.

Horrid stay, old and highly overpriced place with heavy stairs that had paper-thin walls above Very loud clubs and street noise all day n night, worst midnight-2am. I had paid in full then was told to pay added tax, cleaning fee, 2 other fees And a $25 bond to get returned having they expected you to pay by card and wait the 1-3 weeks return like a hotel? nice hostel with nice rooms & bathrooms. has a kitchen to use and also a tv room which we used a lot! very close to venice beach and there is a nice doughnut shop across the road!

perfect location, can be loud but that’s venice beach. staff were so friendly. common space was open and chill vibe. really easy to do laundry. lockers but you need to bring a padlock! met some lovely people here.

Was charged $7+/night more than expected but it is a good location Awesome own bathroom in dorm Potatoes breakfast

Hidden fees! Watch out as they slip in a bunch of “fees” in the final total. I have never stayed in a hostel that was not upfront about their rates. Super deceitful as they use the “cheeper nightly rate” to make you choose it over the hostel next door, then you show up and they end up charging you MORE then what you would have paid at the other hostel. Super shady, I will never stay here again.

I didn’t get to stay at this hostel because when I arrived at 5:40pm the door was locked and no one let us in. We waited and rang the bell but still no answer. We don’t have phones so we couldn’t call the number so I sent an email still no reply. I went on the hostel world app to cancel my stay. We had to stay at SameSun hostel around the corner which was fantastic and included breakfast for the same price. And someone answered the door and let us in!

SCAM RUN! 🏃 they charge extra prices without telling you. Everything is DIRTY. Smells vape and cigarette!

The hostel was ok, the staff was super rude but Yoshi was great. He was super sweet and accommodating. They charged extra for some things that I was unaware of but other than that it was good.

There very best, user-friendly, on the beach hostel in LaLaLand ... My second time is even better than the first time

There is no tea or coffee in the room. Instead of the stated price of $108, they charged $180. It felt like we were staying in a flophouse.

Not bad but soooo noisy. Kinda weird staff and not social at all. But excellent location, literally steps away from Venice beach and on a bus route to Santa Monica/USC/ways to get downtown or to Hollywood.

The hostal overcharged too much

i booked a room with two beds and made a deposit online - I would need to pay the balance upon at arrival. we were told then that it would be $42 more than we confirmed online. after about 10 minutes of conversation trying to understand the discrepancy rationale, they waived the added fees and took us to our room. it was a king bed only - not okay for me (dad) and my young adult daughter. as well as the feeling of being led astray, financially, the place felt dirty and not fully attended to.

Choose this place only for its location. Be sure to read the fine print carefully, as the total price isn’t accurate- there are additional costs for taxes, cleaning fees, and a holding deposit. The kitchen, which is supposed to be a communal space, was closed and only opened at 8 AM, which was inconvenient since I had to store my medication in the fridge. Also, be prepared for noise from nearby bars, and while the receptionist is available, it may not compensate for the disturbances.

Bij aankomst willen ze naast wat je moet betalen voor je verblijf een 10 dollar fee voor schoonmaak en een 2 dollar fee voor hun harde werk bij het inchecken. Let op!! de bedragen die je ziet voor je bed komt dus 12 dollar extra boven op. Daarnaast is het sfeerloos. Voelt als bedrog en dit is zeker het minste hostel waar ik heb in verbleven hier tussen Santa Monica en Venice.

This is my first negative review, but it's well deserved. The place is rundown, a broken refrigerator and dirty carpets. On top of the $155 price for a room, there are hidden fees like a $100 deposit, a cleaning fee, and a $10 debit card charge. The lack of transparency is deceptive, and the owner clearly doesn't care about the guest experience. I feel bad for the staff. This place deserves a much lower rating.
