Malacuna Liverpool

This was a very scary hostel to stay in, especially as a young female I highly recommend you spend an extra couple dollars for somewhere with a little more regulation. Very scary guests, many older men, and I'm unable to contact the establishment since staying there. Was charged twice and generally the worst hostel I've ever stayed in.

Not good for women. The toilets were out of order and the bathroom doors didn't lock. I was put in a mixed gender 8 bed room and I was the only women in it. The staff was rude and all the facilities sucked.

By far the worst experience I had during my trip. For three days the shower wasn't working and the receptionist did nothing. I had to stay at another hotel because they didn't even offer me another room. On the third day, they claimed it was working and didn't refund my daily rate. The hostel is dirty, and there's no bar service. Anyone looking for a peaceful trip, DON'T STAY AT THIS HOSTEL!

La verdad es un edificio muy viejo, parece una casa del terror. Estaban haciendo arreglos, comenzaban a taladrar 8am, por lo que no pude dormir y me tuve que cambiar de hostal. Además no tenían cocina, siendo que lo pusieron en la descripción, es algo importante. Además tuve problemas con agua caliente, las cañerias muy viejas y chirriaban. Recepción eran muy amables pero la instalación muy mala.

This property markets themselves as "the not hostel" once you arrive, which explains a lot. There's no kitchen, no fridges, very little common space, and no hostel events. There is a giant bar area that is open to the public, but we never saw more than 2 attendees at any given time. This is just an overpriced hostel room at the price of a hotel room (not even a good hotel though). There's also no bins inside the rooms or in any common spaces, so we had to take all of our rubbish with us. Awful.

Staff were unwelcoming and not very helpful. Bathroom was extremely dirty, light sensor didn’t work half the time and the toilet seat was broken. The light for my bed didn’t work and was not attached on one side. The atmosphere was pretty dead and the floors always seemed to be wet and being cleaned. Wouldn’t stay here again

La recepcionista rubia fue muy grosera al recibirme, no sabía entregar las habitaciones, las tarjetas fallan constantemente y no puedes abrir las puertas, las cambié 4 veces trayendo mis cosas por todo el hostal. El lugar olía horrible, no había agua caliente, una de las duchas no funcionaba para 6 personas. No me agradó la atmósfera, no había espacio común para descansar, y si lo tenía era horrible. No dormí una noche y preferí irme a otro hostal de lo terrible que estaba.

Absolutely terrible. No reception most of the day, dirty rooms, rude and unhelpful staff, and zero security. Random people walk in and out freely. The cleaning staff didn’t even clean—just made the bed. I have videos as proof. No response from the hostel despite several messages. Unsafe and unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.

Would not recommend for female solo travelers. Mostly drunk, older and creepy men were staying there. Very anonymous atmosphere and half of the building was under construction.

Very nice but it’s a pity that the bar is more or less never open

Amazing hostel would definetely reccomend, a bit of an older crowd so not much to do/meet people for someone my age. But I really enjoyed my stay!

Bonne localisation, personnel sympathique en revanche les chambres ne sont pas récentes, le ménage n’a pas correctement été effectué (poussière sur la tablette du lit et dans les rangements), espace salle de bain/toilettes assez vétustes Ok pour 1 nuits ou 2

Similar feedback to some other reviews here. Has the bones of a nice place but really in need of some work, we had one broken toilet and one broken door lock in our room and other construction around the building, space didn’t get cleaned daily and there were some weird odours around. Bunks were cramped. The place was DEAD, terrible atmosphere even though the staff do try with music and the bar. But not a bad stay if you’re willing to let things slide for the sake of budget.

The entrance to the hostel is through the downstairs bar, Wilsons, which was a bit confusing. The rooms were clean and the bed was pretty comfy. The light above my bed was broken though. There were 2 bathrooms joined onto the room I stayed in, but one of them was out of order. Pretty chill environment & it wasn’t ever busy downstairs or in the common areas. I’d stay here again since the location was central and I had a good experience overall.

They don't make it obvious that reception is actually over at the bar, and having broken bathrooms on the main floor and also in the room was a huge inconvenience.

Toilets out of order proved a difficulty

Very weird vibes. The front door / reception with locked and unmanned, you have to go to the bar and there is no signage so everyone tries the locked door first. The kitchen had no cutlery or crockery and only one pan, no pots. You have to steal cutlery from the bar and eat out of the pan. The shower only has one knob?! Its either max heat burn my skin or max water pressure. Terrible shower. Other than that, good location and good beds with chargers and curtains.

Stayed for two nights for work in the all-female dorm. The beds were comfortable and I slept really well, having a privacy curtain was a nice touch and made the space feel more personal. The bathrooms were fairly standard but spacious and functional: do note that they don't provide towels or toiletries. The location is also very convenient, close to the shopping centre, bars, restaurants, and the train station, which made getting around very easy. Overall, I’d say it’s great value for money...

Everything was great! Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. If I'm ever in Beatles City again, I'll definitely stay at the Malacun...

One of the two bathrooms were broken in our room

Not amazing by any means, but it did the job. For the low price you get a bed within walking distance of Lime Street station, a shower and a toilet - that's it. No towel included. There was a bit of an average hostel smell, the power & light in my bed didn't work. Staff seemed much more interested in chatting with each other than sorting out guests. It did the job, if there was nowhere else then I would stay again, but under no other circumstances.

Malacuna Liverpool was an absolute blast. It was affordable, the beds were comfy, the staff was kind, the other travellers were great, and our luggage felt secure. I will definitely visit again in the summer!

Hostel is in an excellent location, within walking distance to the town centre. Unfortunately the hostel itself could be better. I was in one of the basement rooms which had no hot water. The bathroom light was temperamental and the bathroom itself wasn’t particularly clean. I understand they are renovating this part of the hostel so that could be why. Storage cupboard was inside the bed itself so not ideal. One staff member didn’t seem that friendly but he did give me a free towel

Front desk was impatient, unhelpful. My door key never worked, tried asking for help 3 times but they ghosted me so I decided I’d just stay the night then leave. The bed was very comfy and the room was dark. I wouldn’t come again but in an emergency it’s good enough.
