The 10 star reviews are fake. They charged a nearly 80 euro (500 something Danish) 'rental fee' for bed sheets, which they don't refund. This is a total scam and the owners and staff should be ashamed of themselves. Bed sheets should always be included in a hostel. There was also food crumbs lying on the ground in front of the ground floor bathroom for ages without being cleaned, and the corridors smelled damp like mould. Never stay here, just book a hotel for the same price with the 'rental fee

Do not recommend, very unhygienic and smelly everywhere

It is really a very bad place to stay, I realized that in the end anyone can enter the hotel without having to go through a check, it seems a bit dangerous to me, it is very dirty. The location is very good and the staff is very friendly. Summary: central, expensive and dirty.

It’s a s***. They make you pay for the dormitory and when you arrive they ask you 50 dkk to rent the draps. They don’t add it to the prices online to s*** people. Then when you arrive you are obligated to pay extra. Moreover, It was absolutely disgusting and very very dirty. I almost vomit while taking a shower. Hair, music and dirt everywhere.

Very untidy, dirty. Not a Social athmosphare but in the Center. Need to pay to Store you luggage.

Extremely ugly building in a dark alley surrounded by grey concrete and cars, no green areas whatsoever. Inside the building is slightly better but boring atmosphere. There were no lockers in the room. Nothing is included, everything costs a lot extra, 5 € for only a bedsheet which is normally included. Also breakfast costs extra. It's a dishonest place when they have such hidden costs. Therefore, it really deserves low rating.

STAY AWAY! This is the single worst hostel experience I've had. And I've stayed in lots. No secure storage under beds, Shifty metal ladders that clang (very loudly) when people turn over in their sleep, incredibly disgusting bathrooms, bedding costs extra (a lot extra), luggage storage costs extra, unhelpful staff who refused to do anything to make it right. Good location, but otherwise an awful hostel.

Betten waren nicht wie auf den Fotos mit Vorhang ausgestattet. Müffeliger Geruch im ganzen Gebäude und ganz besonders in den Zimmern!

Avoid if possible.. The first room we got looked nothing like the pictures, the whole floor smelled like a septic tank. After complaining, we got 'upgraded for free' to the type of room that was advertised. Unfortunately, it smelled much worse, the lack of ventilation and personal hygiene of the occupants made it unbearable. And the beds were shaking all nights with your upper or lower friend's movements. We left the next day, tired, so paid 2 nights for nothing. Staff did not ask why we left.

Danhostel is a blessing to me. I love this place. It is smack dab in the center of the action of this beautiful little city. OK, so the showers aren't all that, I heard someone say in a review... I'm here to report that the water is not cold, but nice and hot. The only thing is it's those little push button showers. So, all you do is lean back on the button and scrub yourself so it doesn't turn off. All of the staff were friendly and a delight to talk to. 5th floor smoking section is lit.

Overall a good place. I felt like the hallways smelled a bit off, but aside from that, it was ok. Nice facilities, and central location. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom (in the private room at least). Not much social things happening while I was there, and I did not get the feeling that the staff was eager to give tips to what do do in the city, unless you asked:)

They don't have lockers in the rooms so locking up your valuables like phone and pasport isn't posible. Real big downside. Alsof the showers where boiling hot and it can't be adjusted. So no shower for 3 days... Staff is really friendly and always in for a chat. They gave amazing recomdations. They don't have any activities in the hostel. Maybe because of the season (winter) but the hostel seems to be only for sleeping.

Good location near the center and train station. Don't book your stay after 12 p.m. as the reception is closing and you won't be able to self check-in (unless you are really lucky and find staff). No one will answer the emergency number, so don't count on that. The room was great, but the street is really noisy until at least 3 a.m. as there are bars and people yelling. You'll feel as if you were on the bar with them from the 5th and last floor. Showers stop every 15-20 seconds, burning water.

Lady at the front desk wasn't very helpful when I had a problem with my booking. However, when I was checking out the guy was really helpful and didn't make a fuss with my dilemma. Bathrooms were so dirty and showers aren't great - no where to put your stuff in the shower with you.

When you visit Århus, you won't have much choices about accommodation. It's a massive hostel located in city. I can't get why this place took that awful ratings. Having had stayed around 20+ hostels, I don't see this place bad at all. But something has to change. You should add lockers to dormitory rooms. Linens NEVER EVER WOULDN'T BE renting by you. the location is the best part about this Hostel, super central. booked 8bed dorm but they only have 10bed dorms. there are also no lockers and no curtains. the "common" area is just some tables and chairs, and it was empty most of the time. it is ok for a few days

Ganzer vierter Stock hat nach Toilette gerochen. WC waren schmutzig und verdreckt, übler Geruch. Das Bett war gut, guter schlaf. Hatte das ganze Dorm für mich. Mitarbeitende habe ich keine gesehen ausser beim check out.

Lockers were missing for bunk bed rooms. Cold showers. Not adjustable for customers so you just shower with what you get. Have to click the button every 10 seconds… who can shower like that? Especially in a cold country where you would like to warm up after discovering the city

Je n’aime pas mettre de mauvais commentaires mais cette fois ci pas du tout satisfaite par l’établissement… Odeur nauséabonde lors de mon arrivée. Des auréoles jaunes partout sur le coussins, la couverture et le drap de dessous. Il y avait aussi des cheveux sur le lit. Aucune intimité possible, aucune étagère pour stocker des petites affaires ou casiers à fermer comme dans la plupart des Hostels. The room was very dirty, which was disappointing. While I was in the women's bathroom, an almost naked man entered and used it. This was quite uncomfortable, as someone could have been changing in there. Overall, I didn’t feel very safe during my stay. Additionally, we had to pay extra for bed sheets, which I’ve never seen in other hostels. On the positive side, the hostel is in a central location.

Perfect Hostel 👍

The bed was a good size and was comfortable enough, however they make you rent bedsheets which I don’t think is common. I try to avoid foot borne infections in hostel showers by wearing slides, but the drain was blocked in the shower causing it to overflow, pretty unhygienic. Lastly, only some of the rooms have lockers. Pretty weird that your ability to protect your belongings depends on whether you’re lucky enough to get a room with a locker.

super Lage, gut+ OK,leider war das Fenster für die Frischluft nicht zu öffnen,die Duschen in der letzten Etage waren zu kühl Die Duschen sind für 2,00 Meter Menschen konzipiert,es kommt ein Wasserschwall raus,der auch den Kopf nass macht,selbst,wenn man es nicht will.Die Duschen sollten verbessert werden und überall wirklich warm zu sein.
