Casa Zahri Boutique Hostel

This place was absolutely disgusting. We were a group of 4 and we got a personal room at Casa Zahra, we left 15 minutes later to book an AirBnb. The place is hot as hell, the rooms are super small, and there was literally MOLD inside of the beds. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, go here. But if you are looking to enjoy your time in Cartagena, do not. We requested a refund once we saw the state of the room, which they refused to give to us, and we still left and got a bnb.

While I was sleeping a man opened my curtain and pissed all over me at 3am. I was traumatized. There was no one at reception despite there being “24 hour reception”. This was especially concerning since the door to the hostel locked from the inside - we were essentially trapped. We messaged the hostel numerous times, no one answered until 5am. They were reluctant to move us to another room, to provide a refund, to address the situation with the man, or to kick him out. Women are not safe her...

⚠️ DO NOT STAY HERE – SERIOUS MOLD ISSUE ⚠️ We booked a 4-person room at Casa Zahri Hostel (Cartagena) and were shocked at the condition of the space. The room was extremely small, poorly ventilated, and full of visible mold — not minor mildew, but thick, painted-over black mold that posed a clear health risk. We had chosen this hostel based on glowing online reviews, but our experience was the exact opposite. It seems that any negative reviews are dismissed or buried

Great public areas, however, the dorms and the bathrooms are quite disappointing given the price. First room had mould in the walls next to the beds and no ventilation, we got moved to another room with less mould but still no ventilation which made it extra humid and smelly. Bathrooms are quite basic and don't seem very clean. Pool area is nice and aesthetic and staff is friendly and they organise activities.

Wir haben zum Glück nur eine Nacht hier verbringen müssen, ansonsten wären wir vorzeitig abgereist. Ich finde es indiskutabel, für ein von starkem Schwimmel befallenem Schlafplatz Geld Zahlen zu müssen und meine Gesundheit zu gefährden. Ansonsten ein schönes Hostel, aber gesundheitsgefährdend geht einfach gar nicht.

Don’t believe the hype. Breakfast was half decent

The staff know that there are bed bugs, but all they did was wash the sheets and remake the bed. Guaranteed the next person in that bed gets it. They reluctantly paid for my antibiotic cream. When we lifted the mattress up it was filthy.

A nice spot in Panama but governed by completed arbitrary and bizarre rules. You have to pay in cash immediately on arrival, despite your plans for the day, even though they have the ability to charge your deposit on card and it is $7 ATM fees everywhere. You don’t pay your bill at check out, anything you order must be paid within 24 hours, in cash, despite plans. No wiggle room from staff on even the smallest matter -5 mins late for breakfast is apparently a closed case.

O local a primeira vista encanta, é super charmoso, mas se você não for europeu ou norte americano, dificilmente terá uma boa recepção no hostel “cool”. Em uma ocasião em que um hospede fazia muito barulho ainda muito cedo pela manhã, pedi que parasse e fui refutada com um sonoro “volte para o seu país”. Imediatamente pedi para sair do hostel e meu dinheiro de volta (uma vez que é obrigatório pagar tudo no checkin) mas não fui atendida. Pior experiência de hostel em toda min...

Wouldn’t stay here again. My rom smelled so bad of mould. I saw the comments and thought it couldn’t be that bad but it really was that bad and worse. I couldn’t spend anytime in there it was so bad. Second night I had a cockroach crawl over my face in the middle of the night and then ended up crawling up to the top bunk. I asked to swap rooms and the front desk let me swap but had no sympathy. This room smelled better as well thankfully. Breakfast was the best part. Not social at all

Only good thing about this hostel is the breakfast. Staff are helpful but seem annoyed when they have to work.. The 8-bed dorm smelled so strongly of mold, that I had to move after 2 hours, as the smell made me sick. Got a 6-bed dorm, slightly better. AC is too hot, cuz they wont provide blankets for the cold people so they just turn up the AC really high. There is only one temperature in the shower. Small pool and poor social vibe, staff mostly talk to each other. Would not stay here again.

Sehr kooperativ. Weil ich früh losmusste wurde mir statt eines Frühstück ein Sandwich-Paket zum mitnehmen gemacht.

Super auberge avec petit déjeuner inclus et café gratuit toute la journée. C’est très agréable comme auberge !

You get what you pay for . Free breakfast was unreal me the staff serving lovely & it did feel secure one of the only hostels that doesn’t let just anyone walk in. Toilets with showers and toilets is seperate and kept clean - much better than having 1 en-suite for 4-8 people. Buttt, rooms were small,!mouldy & like sauna , air con was set to 30 degrees. It also really wasn’t social as there was nowhere to socialise

Great hostel in getsemaní, overall good vibes and everything you look for in a hostel.

Really loved this hostel! It was clean, beautiful, and had a lovely pool to relax by, which made it easy to be social. The breakfast was so good—especially the pancakes! It wasn’t the most social hostel overall, but I still met plenty of people. The location is perfect!

Great place to stay near to the busy old town. Place was clean and staff were super helpful and friendly. Pool and breakfast were great!!

The hostel is fine but run down. The wifi in room 5 doesn’t work and I saw cockroaches. Flat sheet on the bed means exposed mattres. Pool and free breakfast are nice. There are worse, but for the price, I expected more. There is supposed to be a 24 hour desk person for security to let you in the front door - there is no key otherwise. I returned to the hostel at 2:30am and the front desk person was asleep. I was waiting and rattling the front door for 10 min which felt extremely unsafe.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is included with a choice of different dishes. The beds have curtains and the dorms come with AC. The hostel offers a welcome drink and free activities, making it easy to meet others. Hot water and coffee is available 24/7. Good location in Getsemaní, and there are cats roaming freely around the hostel.

Het is prima, maar wel echt vergane glorie. Alles is in matige staat, de ontbijt plekjes, de bank rondom het zwembad, de dorms, de toiletten. Het is ook vrij matig schoongehouden. Personeel aan de balie was erg vriendelijk.

We had the BEST time. Incredibly kind and welcoming staff, clean facility, wonderful breakfast every morning, and we also loved our neighborhood. Would absolutely recommend!

Im Großen und Ganzen ein top Hostel! Die Lage ist sehr gut und man kommt überall schnell hin. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Besonders der saubere Pool ist ein großes Plus und lädt zum Entspannen ein. Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen.

Loved my stay here before catching a flight from the airport. Clean, great breakfast, air conditioned, and overall very pleasant atmosphere. Not too social however, making it less ideal for solo backpackers.

Nice hostel, breakfast is good, The common area is nice with the pool, the kitchen is quite small though, not really convenient to store and prepare your food.

Great spot! Super close to the main dock and central getsemani. breakfast was super tasty. Always black coffee available. Only complaint was that no blankets were available for the dorms. you only receive one singular sheet and it can get either super cold or super hot at night depending on wether or not they turn on the AC

Adorei esse hostel! Café da manhã maravilhoso e ainda fizeram boas adaptações veganas, super limpo, localização excelente e a equipe muito gentil e educada. Meu dia preferido foi o de beber e pintar no bar. Recomendo!
