+ Privatzimmer sehr gemütlich (könnte aber einen Ventilator vertragen) und schöner gemeinschaftsbereich + sehr netter Besitzer - Toilette und besonders die Küche waren ziemlich schmutzig - Gemeinschaftsbereich könnte zumindest mal gesaugt werden.

The mattress of the bed I slept in (lowest bed of the four in the loft) was definitely broken, so I slept terribly. Please get this fixed soon. Otherwise it's a lovely spot, very chilled surfer vibes, and very affordable. Just remember it's completely self-catering.

Great hostel !! Perfect if you are solo or with a group! The hostel is not your typical hostel, it reminded me of my own home. Everyone staying there/ volunteering there was super nice and friendly and fun to hang out with. Special shoutout to Giuseppe!! He knew the best locations for a coffee in the mornings🤌🏼😁

A must stay at the surf house, not your conventional big name hostel but no doubt about it will be the absolute best stay you will ever have. James is a gem and knows his way with the waves, so take him up on some lessons. He’s very knowledgeable and knows Hermanus extremely well. Also make sure to have a nice braai outside with anyone staying there, Finn can show you how to be a pro. It was hard for us to leave because we were enjoying our stay so much. Cheers! Dan & Kii

Awesome awesome place and staff. Given a choice I would stay longer, it's only that my time was running out. Would definitely come back.

Very nice, unique Hostel. We really liked the vibe and James was a really good host 🙂

I stayed in Zen Den for 2 days and had a very good experience. The place is clean, you got everything you need and you can reach all main points in Hermanus by foot. James was very welcoming and helped with organizing the whale watching. The other guest, James and i had a braai the first night, which was very chill. He even gave me a ride to a hike and managed to send me something i forgot :)

Enjoyed our stay so much! Loved the fact that James built the house with his dad. It’s very personal and homely. We already booked another night for our way back on the garden route :)

Cool spot along the cost, host is very friendly and welcoming. Very lekker, would stay here again.

I had a great time there! Well located and cute atmosphere with a well equipped kitchen. James, the hostel owner was also very helpful and a great host!

We absolutely loved our stay, would highly recommend! The manager James was super friendly with lots of great suggestions and our room was very comfy and clean. Looking forward to staying again in the future
