Drifter Byron Bay

Our room was filthy and there was rubbish everywhere, there were flies in the shoes and toilets. The bed rooms as so tiny there is barely room to open your bag. They don’t allow you in the kitchen at night and lock it, and there was fire alarms going off for hours throughout the night. Would not stay here again, it’s also v spenny for that experience! Location is good though lol

I was very disappointed and won’t stay here ever again. Despite the relatively high price for a mediocre dorm bed, you have to pay to store your luggage, there is no room to hang washed clothing so you’re forced to pay for a drier, you have to pay for detergent, you have to pay for a towel, they say they provide shower gel but most showers were out for most of the times I wanted to use it (even when they just cleaned), you have to pay to select what bed you want, not very clean, small kitche...

J’ai eu l’occasion de séjourner dans de nombreuses auberges en Australie et en Asie, mais celle-ci est de loin la pire expérience que j’ai vécue. Le ménage ? Jamais fait. La climatisation, pourtant essentielle, n’a jamais été réparée malgré les nombreuses demandes de tout le dortoir. Résultat : impossible de dormir à cause de la chaleur étouffante. Les sanitaires étaient sales, une odeur désagréable persistait. Tout est à revoir de A à Z.

Disappointing - shared areas need more frequent cleaning, kitchen and female bathroom was very dirty, also sand all over the floor when I walked in. They also overbooked my 3 night continuous stay booking and had to do one night in one room & 2 in another. Offered me nothing as a sorry & made me check out at 10am on my 2nd day and didn’t give me my new key until 2pm.

The Bathrooms and the kitchen are one of the worst communal sitations I've ever cooked in, too little space to chop/cook/clean, store and so noisy and dirty. I had to asked several times for TP in the bathroom, because they weren't filled often enough. The showers accumulated sand and hair for days before somebody cleaned it. The common area is often busy and nosy, there's no place to hang your wet beach clothes, the sand on the balcony wasn't cleaned once, in the whole week I stayed there...

Unfortunately, my stay at Drifters was my least favourite part of Byron Bay. I'm not typically one to leave a negative review, but Drifters in Byron Bay really missed the mark. The shared bathrooms were disgusting - used ladies products' on the shower floor, smell of sewage, no toilet paper. I arrived on a Thursday and I didn't see the bathrooms in a clean state until Sunday night. I previously had a really positive experience at another Drifter, but I'm not sure I'll book with them again.

Beautiful outdoor area and common room, however all the facilities were dirty most of the time and not cleaned regularly enough, there was very little storage in the 10 bed dorm and the bunks were very small. Not very social, also cannot rent bath towels which is very disappointing for the price. Also parts of it are under construction, tradies frequent the building. Not worth the price.

Drifter is mooi maar te duur voor wat je krijgt. Keuken is klein, rommelig en koelkastruimte beperkt. Mijn bed lag vol zand. In de 4-persoonskamer is weinig opbergruimte. Je betaalt voor alles, zelfs kluisjes om spullen op te bergen voor check in/out, ook na verlenging. Housekeeping gaat snel door de kamer en maakt nauwelijks schoon. Veel geluidsoverlast door werkzaamheden, personeel kortaf en lijken niet veel om zaken te geven als je het vermeldt. $100 per nacht is het in mijn ogen niet waard.

An sich mega schönes Hostel nur leider absolut dreckig gewesen. Außerdem wird überall wo es nur möglich ist einem extra Geld abgezogen. Die Gepäckaufbewahrung kostet beispielsweise nach Check Out um 10 Uhr morgens 1$ die Stunde…

My 3 friends and I stayed at Drifter for two nights and loved it! It’s such a beautiful hostel, the rooms are amazing, the pool area is super cool and all the staff are beyond friendly and helpful. Great location and we felt super safe! Couldn’t recommend enough!! The kitchen facilities were great, however it was a bit dirtier than we were expecting but this could be due to less staff cleaning it over a weekend. Nice hostel in a good location. Nice kitchen and common areas. The only thing is that the room could be cleaner—everything was covered in sand, even though it was cleaned daily.

Loved my stay here, I requested to change rooms because the original room was insanely dirty from other guests and they accommodated me straight away. Pool area and lobby spaces are lovely - kitchen is a bit cramped during peak hours but apart from that I loved my stay

It was a nice stay and a good location, the room smelt a bit moldy which annoyed me a lot and the kitchen was filthy, should be cleaned actively during busy hours. Everything else was fine there!

Great rooms! Good location right next to piano bar and then 5 min walk to beach. Kitchen was ok but always super busy. Would stay here again :)

Best hostel i stayed at on my travels. If you drink just have a couple and go to the social areas and you’re 90% guaranteed to end up at the piano bar

I enjoyed my stay. I only wish it was cleaner. There’s sand everywhere and I never saw the kitchen clean. Apart from that the beds are comfy and it’s a nice vibe.

Room bedding was super clean but felt room could have been cleaner. Bathroom mat was mouldy and there were items left in room that didn’t belong to anyone including fourth girl in our room. They were items left from previous people from weeks ago (food in bag - tag dated 13/03, bikini, sandals, dirty bowl and fork on balcony).

The pool area was lovely and the rooms were nice and clean with good storage space, perhaps could be a little bit bigger though as we’re quite croweded. Lots of showers and toilets that were clean.

Dorms and kitchen are not spacious but common areas are good at the hostel.

This hostel was great, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean. The beds have curtains on which is great and lots of room for your stuff in the drawers under the bed (which you can lock using your own lock). The kitchen area was clean and cleaned regularly as well as never too busy. Each bed has their own designated fridge space and cupboard space. The pool area is nice too and lots of common space inside and outside to relax. The hostel run a free dinner weekly and socials.

Kitchen was an absolute disaster. Filthy and overcrowded. Way too small and the storage system is a joke.

Amazing location, really nice facilities. there was staff in the kitchen cleaning up during busy hours and found the bathrooms clean. The bedrooms were super nice and the atmosphere was super social.

This is one of the most well designed hostels I’ve stayed in! Boxes for each bed on the shelves and in the fridge so finding space for your food was never an issue! Kitchen was well equipped and lots of places to sit and eat. The bedrooms were spacious and clean. Beds had lights, storage and blackout curtains which was a game changer! Beds were also comfortable and lots of space in lockers. The road the hostel is on isn’t the best but the location within Byron is perfect - 5 mins from beach!

first hostel i stayed in and it was amazing, so conveniently close to everything including the bus station. the place was so cute and everything was clean. some construction going in inside but doesnt cause any issues to guests. i would stay here 1000x over if i were to come back!

Staff were nice, location was great, facilities were good and easy to use, cinema room and pool were a major selling point but sometimes hard to get in due to high demand. Can’t fault drifters as a whole, great value for money and comfortable stay. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Lage ist super, aber die Sauberkeit ist echt ein Problem. Das Personal hat meinen kompletten Einkauf weg geschmissen, da sie dachten ich wäre ausgecheckt. Leider keine gute Erfahrung
