Rest Up Kathmandu Hostel

We first arrived and the staff seemed very helpful. Unfortunately the room was freezing - the windows didnt close properly. We asked for extra blankets but non available, instead a tiny heater provided which didnt help in a large room. We slept fully clothed in thermals and were still cold. We cut our stay short. We accidentally left a sleeping bag liner in the room, tried to collect the next day - 'nothing left in the room' apparently. Not true as we also left a bag that we didnt need.

Location and staff are great. Although the beds were too hard which made me leave after one night. Facilities are very basic, a bit old and therefore not too clean. Rooftop is nice but also a bit undermaintained.

Good hostel, lovely vibes upstairs and help sort our trip to poonhill. Second time I stayed I slept in the mixed 4 person dorm upstairs. This room is left unlocked, with nowhere to put your belongs and opens out into the social area. Someone literally came in and stole my towel?? Wouldn’t recommend staying in that room. Also nowhere to store personal belongs safely. On the pricer side too.

I used the hostel both during my stay in Kathmandu and for booking a Manaslu circuit hike. Very friendly staff, who where always helpfull with information. Good food when you don't have the energy to go find food outside of the hostel. Had a great time in Nepal thanks to Rest Up Kathmandu. Areas of improvement: Since the rooms have no locks in would be nice to have some lockers in the rooms. The 4 bunk dorm next to the commmon area, could use some curtains at the end of the beds.

Great place to stay and connect with fellow travelers. rooftop situation is perfect!

Good for the price - nice chilled rooftop area, really nice staff and a good location. The room was a bit grubby/old and there was a lot of noise early in the morning from some building works next door. Overall fine for the budget price though.

nice hostel, good to meet other travelers. its on the city center, so the rooms facing the street are a bit noisy.

Lovely staff, chilled atmosphere with a range of ages. Nice rooftop area for chilling and wifi available. Dorms were basic - the beds were a little hard. The facilities were a bit inconsistent but the staff informed me they’re being upgraded soon - they weren’t a massive issue. Good location near to shopping, cafés and restaurants. There is the option to book tours from the hostel but always shop around.

Just one bathroom for a lot of people, and no lockers in the rooms, but the rest is good! Great staff and good location

Good hostel in Thamel. the location was perfect! just a 5min walk and your in the middle of Thamel. the staff is really sweet and ready to help with all you need. also the rooftop is really nice to just chill and meet new people

Nice hostel with a great location. Staff always helpful and very friendly. Nice rooftop terrace. Food was tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Our private room was clean, but lacking storage space e.g. a small wardrobe or a sideboard.

Great restaurant and common area on the rooftop, super friendly staff. Dorms are great not perfect, bathroom not perfect also but the hot shower is super nice. Location of the hostel is very good. This is the kind of place I could just spend days easily as a slow-pace traveller

I stayed there for 4 nights and had a great stay. The common area is nice, breakfasts are really good even though it takes ages to get the food. The staff is extremely nice ! I would definitely stay there again

Beste hostel van Kathmandu. Ik kwam hier 3x terug tijdens men reis. Heel gemakkelijk om mensen te leren kennen. Zalig om te ontspannen op het dakterras en heel lekker eten. Iedereen die er werkt was super vriendelijk en behulpzaam en daarbovenop was het eten hier super! Ik kom volgende keer zeker terug naar Restup!

I loved this hostel, the staff is friendly, there to help you if you have any questions. The rooftop is a real plus!! The view of Kathmandu and the monkey temple in the distance is incredible! Very pleasant for a break at the end of the day or to meet other travelers! The rooms and beds are clean and comfortable, the shower is shared for the dorm but it goes well. I recommend it is well located, I was able to walk alone as a woman in the surrounding streets without fear

Super friendly staff, location is perfect, it's clean and has a restaurant with amazing food there. It's a very chill place but also has a vibe for hanging out

Amazing hostel! Very attentive and kind staff, amaaaazing rooftop terrace, and very cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place to anyone!

What a great hostel. Social area is awesome, met so many fun people here. Great opportunity to join treks. Rooms are spacious with curtains for privacy. Loved my stay!

I have been staying at the same hostel for the past few trips to Kathmandu. I have tried many so far, but this one is the best one I’ve found. From the staff always friendly and very knowledgeable, dorms and private rooms cleaned daily, 24hr security, amazing food and a great rooftop to relax after the busy day! Honestly 10/10, will be back again, thank you Prakash and team

I really enjoyed my stay at Rest Up! Prakash was so welcoming and helpful, and gave me loads of useful information even before I arrived in Nepal. The location is great for exploring Thamel and all of the staff are super friendly- would definitely recommend :)

Epic hostel from location, super helpful staff and the best bit is the rooftop with 360 views and good food. I met lots of people hanging out there. Wish I could have stayed longer!

We had an incredible stay at Rest Up. The staff were extremely accommodating, friendly, and endlessly helpful with regard to trekking plans and general things to do and see in Kathmandu. Couldn’t recommend enough! Hostel is very clean, secure and the kitchen/cafe/bar is lovely. The views from the rooftop are stunning:) thanks again!
