Jhony's Backpacker

- Ich habe ein Zimmer über booking gebucht. Kurz danach bekam ich eine Anfrage über WhatsApp, dass ich bei Ankunft dann über die Touren und die Preise verhandeln könne. Ich habe dann freundlich gesagt, dass ich keine Tour brauche. Mir wurde dann gesagt dass ich nur im Hotel übernachten dürfe wenn ich ein tracking über sie buche. Dieses Vorgehen ist meiner Meinung nach absolut unseriös, vor allem, da mir die Karte bereits abgebucht wurde. Es kostet mich viel Zeit und Nerven und ich musste im Hotel vorbei, habe das Geld dann zurückerstattet bekommen aber zurück bleibt ein mulmiger Eindruck. Dieses Vorgehen ist anscheinend in der ganzen Stadt so bekannt. Ich habe das bei zwei Hotels versucht. Ich finde das nicht okay. Mein wird so gezwungen irgendetwas zu buchen, obwohl man das vielleicht gar nicht möchte. Wenn die so ist, muss es klar deklariert sein und ich finde die Zimmer dürfen dann auch nicht auf booking ausgeschrieben werden.

Me regreso mi dinero pero después de esa conversación con el jamás iría a un tour guiado por el mismo, no me gustó su forma de ser

- Nachdem ich die Buchung durchgeführt hatte rief mich der Besitzer an und erklärte mir sehr nett wie ich zu ihm komme und am Ende sagte er, dass er auch Guide für Orang Utan Trekkings ist. Als ich ihm erzählte, dass ich bereits eines gebucht habe und nur die Unterkunft benötige, wurde er sehr grantig und begann mich durchs Telefon anzuschreien. Er wollte, dass ich die Unterkunft storniere. Auf die Erklärung hin, dass jeder buchen kann wenn er es auf Booking stellt wurde er wieder böse und legte auf. Er rief mich nochmals an und am Ende dachte ich es sei okay. Am Tag meiner Ankunft wurde ich von einem Mann von dem Unternehmen, womit ich das Trekking gebucht habe, zu Jhony begleitet. Angekommen sagte mir Jhony, dass er mich nicht da haben will. Ein Schock für eine Alleinreisende Frau am Abend! Er war sehr unfreundlich und ich fühlte mich in seiner Anwesenheit nicht wohl. Ich kann seine Unterkunft leider nicht empfehlen. Zum Glück half mir meine Organisation etwas anderes zu finden!

- End of my previous review that got cut. All in all, Jhony seemed a bit confused and was repeating the same sentences and pieces of information multiple times. Before departing, Jhony told us we could have the same breakfast as the day before, so we naturally assumed it was included like the day before. He told us only after we finished eating the next day that we had to pay for it. In the end, when I agreed to pay, but calmly tried to explain that we were expecting him to tell us the price beforehand, he got mad, interrupted and silenced me, not wanting to hear anything. Also, right before leaving, I asked how many people would be in the car with us. He screamed at me that he only knows it's min 2 and max 7 people and that I can complain about the amount of people elsewhere. I was startled by his tone and uncomfortable with the outburst and left with a very bad feeling.

+ Ägaren trevlig och hjälpsam. man får vad man betalar för. Rummet nästan gratis. Bokade en två dagar treking med han. Såg orangetanger dag ett. Trevligt me frukt paus och lunch i ljungeln. Eftermiddagen flerrättes middag i campen. Sov på madrasser

- Det var mycket klättring . Hade nog räckt med en dag för mig. Dag två var det klättring först upp i hela berget och sedan ner. Livsfarligt för mig. Smala steniga leriga rullgrus. Detta är nod det mest utmanande jag gjort i hela mitt liv. Är ingen ungdom 66år. Den ena guiden hade jag föe mig själv. Han var tvungen att hjälpa mig en hel del.

- I didn't stay, so I can't comment on the property at all. Upon arrival, the owner realized that I did a jungle trekking with a different company and concluded that I can't stay with him and kicked me out. Wierd vibe. He gave me the money back tho.

+ Het eten tijdens de tour was erg goed en werd rekening gehouden met dieetwensen. We hebben het geluk gehad om veel dieren te zien. Gids in training Lana deed zijn best om ons te wijzen op het beste zicht op de dieren.

- Jhony vertelt graag, maar vooral over zijn kijk op het leven en niet zozeer over de jungle. Ondanks dat het laagseizoen was, kom je de verschillende groepen die de trek deden steeds tegen. Er werd veel gerookt door alle gidsen tijdens de tours.

+ A basic room with a bed, a sink, a toilet, a cold shower, a fan. 2 simply bungalows in a small backyard a bit away from the center. Jhony is a nice guy! The price is very good.

- Well it is basic and local standard - not too much comfort and cleaningess to expect.

+ Preis-Leistung super! Wir haben eine Zweitagestour im Dschungel gebucht (genormt vom Nationalpark 120€) und für die 3 Nächte nichts bezahlt.

- Die Zimmer sind nicht so sauber und nicht alle haben AC.

+ Ich habe bei Jhony 5 Nächte geschlafen und eine 2 Tages Trekking Tour im Dschungel gemacht. Der Ablauf war sehr gut geplant. Er hat mich am Abreisetag mit seinem Motorroller sogar zu Bushaltestelle gefahren. Über die Zeit hinweg gab Jhony mir immer wieder Tips, was ich sehr gut fand. Er und sein Guide in Ausbildung Lana haben mich sehr gut und mit voller Wissen durch den Dschungel geführt. Es hat mir besonders viel Spaß gemacht mich mit Lana zu unterhalten, er wird bestimmt mal ein sehr guter Guide.

- Die Unterkunft ist sehr simpel und könnte für manche doch sehr unkomfortabel sein. Ich empfehle nicht länger als 4 Nächte zu bleiben. In Bezug auf die Trekkingtour fand ich den ersten Tag etwas kurz und war ein wenig enttäuscht, dass wir nur so kurz im Dschungel waren. Dafür hab ich am 2. Trekking-Tag genau das bekommen, was ich mir von der Trekkingtour erhofft habe.

Super friendly and goes above and beyond for his guests, he accommodated us when we weren’t able to travel to our next location, and rearranged our travel for no extra cost. We did the 2 day jungle trek with him and he was the best, super passionate about all the right things! His staff (that join you on the trek) are also fab, and the banana pancakes are yummy!

+ Fue una experiencia genial estar con Jhony, aprendí muchísimo de la situación en Indonesia. Hice con él también el tour de la selva en Bukit Lawang. El alojamiento era súper cute y en mitad del pueblo precioso.

+ Jhony shared information on 2 days jungle trekking. Once in his home stay, he also told me where to eat delicious local food in Bukit Lawang. Next day he and his guide took me to an tour to see orangutans and funky monkeys, it was amazing to see the orangutans move around with great ease in the jungle like walking in our backyard:) Jhony was really knowledgeable of the jungle and ecology and cared deeply about nature protection and preservation, great trip and learning thanks to him.

+ Jhony je skvělý, byli jsme s ním i na jungletreku. Což byl nezapomenutelný zážitek. Vše nám vysvětlil a ukázal. K našemu milému překvapení, vždy vybíral trasy, kde nebyla skoro žádná jiná skupina lidí. Takže jsme měli možnost, mít dvojici orangutanů jen pro sebe. ☺️🌞

+ Jhony is always there, answering your questions (whatsapp) and at his place. He came to pick me up when I arrived in Bukit Lawan (motorbike) and rode me back to the bus to the next village at 6.00 am when I left! 🙏🙏🙏 I just fel in love with Bukit Lawang and its people 💖 The room and bathroom are very simple, so if you need a minimum of confort, that probably won't be the place for you. I was on a 2 days trekking in the jungle with Jhony's team, and I couldn't have had a better guide: Yusup. Always trying to help you and make you feel good. He is really amazing! And he is very funny too. He really tried very hard to find the orang-outans in the jungle for me, and succeded :-) If you are a vegetarian or even a fruitarian (like me), Jhony's team will provide the best food for you. So, I'm very grateful and hope I'll be able to come back one day with my (grown up) chidren.

+ Jhony hat für einen sehr günstigen Flughafentransfer für 400.000 IDR gesorgt und die Unterkunft ist riesig für den Preis von 10€, den ich für 5 Nächte gezahlt habe. Es sind keine französischen Doppelbetten, aber bequeme Matratzen für vier Personen. Außerdem ist in Bukit Lawang alles fußläufig erreichbar, weshalb auch seine Lage am Rand kein Problem ist. Auch der empfohlene 3-Tage Trek war grandios und wird für immer unvergesslich bleiben. Jhony kommuniziert schnell und zuverlässig über WhatsApp und ist das beste für den Preis, was man in Bukit Lawang finden kann.

- Ein paar Ameisen verirren sich auch ins Zimmer, da man aber die meisten Tage sowieso im Jungle verbringt ist das für 10€ für 5 Nächte akzeptabel.

+ The rooms were super nice, same as the people who work there! Very clean!! We also booked the tour, the day we arrived there and it was great. Our tour guide Yusup and also his assistant Dani were super funny and did a great job, we had a great experience in the jungle! Also the food at the tour was great, didn’t expect that.
