Peppertree Lodge

Very nice hostel. I stayed in a private room which was lovely, Crew very service-minded. Location perfect. Kitchen clean and kept in perfekt shape. The only minus was that wifi sometimes didnt work or was very slow. And its expensive like all hostels in Nz if you want private room. Would defonately come back!!

Locked out of common area in the morning twice during the hours that it is supposed to be open. Unreliable WiFi. Good location. Decent bathrooms. Comfortable beds.

Real problems with the Wi-Fi. Almost never worked. I would have to walk downtown to use the downtown public Wi-Fi. Common areas was nice. Great barbecue outside!

Our 4-bed dorm was okay but quite hot and small for floor space. The kitchen needs help, some cookers are problematic and it created a bad atmosphere in the kitchen during meal times when many weren’t working properly. One evening there was a lot of group noise in the courtyard until 2am, I wished staff was around to enforce the quiet times. Overall it was an okay stay.

My stay at Peppertree Lodge was shorter than expected. I only stayed one night instead of the four booked nights mainly because of the low level cleanliness. The curtains were moldy and there was a cockroach on the shower curtain. The bed was really squeaky and I was surprised there were no lockers for valuables. However I have to say that the staff was really nice and the atmosphere overall was positive.

Great location, has all the facilities you need. Although showers were quite dirty. Overall ok, would stay again!

Nice outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the weather, good convenient location, and the room I was in was nice, though YMMV depending on whether you get a room with an outdoor-facing window (and good airflow) or courtyard-facing window (and bad airflow). Overall, would recommend.

Nice hostel with a good location in Paihia. Everyone was nice and welcoming, but overall I don’t think it is the most social place. The rooms and kitchen were clean and had everything that was needed. A bit annoying that there was just outlet for the whole room.

I enjoyed my stay very much! Everything was clean and you even get towels and soap for free. The kitchen is very well equipped and the hostel has nice places to chill. The atmosphere was great and the beds were also comfortable and didn't make any sounds. Would definitly come again!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Friendly atmosphere, helpful staff, and clean. Close to town and beach. Would stay there again!

I enjoyed my stay here. The whole hostel was super clean and pretty quiet. Two things were a little annoying. 1. There was no power outlet on the upper bunk bed. That made it super hard to charge the phone. 2. The WiFi wasn’t reliable.

Great hostel in Paihia, would definitely stay again. Helpful staff, though not very present. No security door to enter the space, but the dorm room door had a lock on it. Could use AC in the dorm room as mosquitos were out at night. Kitchen and bathroom were both clean and well-stocked. Perfect location and generally low-key atmosphere. Internet is poor though, barely any reception in the dorm, but it didn't hinder my stay.

Very clean and value for money, but the only thing I didn’t expected was there is no air conditioning. In summer when it’s very hot, just a pedestal fan for family of 4 doesn’t help . Other than that everything is very good in terms of cleanliness, people are very friendly . Very close to wharf, eateries.

Good hostel. Kitchen was a bit messy and the fridge broke while we were there. A bit noisy at night unfortunately. The staff were helpful. Would stay there again.

Amazing place to stay! The kitchen and the living area are big enough and very clean. There is a big TV with Netflix on it. The staff is friendly and listens to complaints or advice. 1 minute walk from the sea. Sometimes you can even hear the waves in the room. A great cheap place to stay overall. I stayed 4 months for the summer and it was a good experience. Met a lot of nice people.

Private dorm was spacious and clean. Only stayed one night and didn't spend any time in the common areas, but it seemed like a friendly place overall.

Stayed for one night in a private room. Clean, nice kitchen and lounge room with a seating courtyard. About a 10 minute walk from the min wharf and shops but directly opposite a swimming beach which was awesome.

Nice stay. Enjoyed my one night here. Easy out of hours check in.
