Mad Monkey Jungle

The hostal was in very poor conditions. There were cockroaches in the kitchen. After telling the staff they just said they would send someone to look. The next day there were still cockroaches in the same spot.

One of the dirtiest hostels I've been to, very loud, would not recommend.

Don’t stay here!! When I checked in my mattress and sheets were so damp and smelled. The French lady at reception was helpful and moved me, but into a dorm full of full timers. The whole place smelled like weed and cigarettes, the bathroom and room was so cluttered and the window by my bed was directly alongside the bar/kitchen area so it was crazy loud and felt like being in an aquarium. I wish I could upload photos- it was so bad.

Don’t stay here if solo!! Many long terms who are not friendly don’t say hi when you walk in the room/ leave light on all night/ even had one just push in front of me in water queue. Got so many staff working here and yet they do nothing to bring people together. Only pro is location but other hostels are just as good location. So no real selling point. Unclean too. The pool is disgusting, basically black. Don’t waste your money. Josh (think his name was) doing the sales of tours was rude

WiFi didn’t work in room - Had to use Data- Too hot in room staff had to turn air con down twice still wasn’t cool enough.

Very dirty, food got stolen after 1 day, can’t sleep, nowhere to chill/work/read just very loud music throughout the day. No mugs to make coffee/tea

Busy party hostel. Feels quite cliquey. Facilities are good. The kitchen is good for a hostel but very small so it tends to get extremely crowded around dinner time.

great staff and facilities but very cliquey vibe, difficult for solo travelers to make friends

really enjoyed my stay here, was pleasantly surprised by how clean and new the bathrooms were especially. the kitchen is huge and so much space to store belongings. you do need to bring your own padlock for the lockers. HUGE hostel. felt safe being a female traveller in a mixed dorm. lots of people stay here long term in off season and it’s easy to see why. would definitely come back.

Everything was perfect ! The staff is super friendly and helpful, you feel already like you know everyone :) nice hostel if you want to meet people and just chill ! Big kitchen, great bar and pool area ! I’ll come back for sure !

Mad monkey jungle has been one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, from the staff to location and everything in between! The kitchen is a great size for people who need to cook on a daily basis. If you are looking for a social hostel in a prime location mad monkey jungle is definitely for you!

Loved this mad monkey! Met some really cool people, always events being held upstairs, super nice bar and very social. staff are super friendly and the hostel dorms are constantly being cleaned. Also has a great location close to super markets, the lagoon and all the bars.

Loved staying at Mad Monkey Jungle. The staff is very friendly and the space is clean. The environment is super social. There are events almost every night and always people hanging out by the pool so it is easy to make friends as a solo traveller. Highly recommend staying here if you’re going to Cairns!

Had an amazing stay at this hostel, it’s a super social hostel and had lots going on. Carol and Keysen made check in super easy and made me feel really welcome. Room was cleaned amazingly everyday by housekeeping and the location is perfect for any activities which they will also help you organise.
