The 12 bed room is a mess, there is not enough space. Some people working at the hostel, like the british guy, and some argentinian and uruguyan people at the hostel were very unfriendly. That helped to make the atmosphere at the hostel very bad. They were going in the night to the pools but they were inviting only girls
Not enough showers/toilets. Doors of the 1st floor shower doesn’t shut completely. Kitchen downstairs very unfunctional as the stove doesn’t work properly. Overall bad quality for the prize in my opinion!
Really unhappy with cleanliness. There was a fly infestation on the women’s bathroom which was so unpleasant, although I should say that when I told reception they came to sort it out straight away (the flies were back within 20 minutes though). The kitchens were also very grotty. When I went to heat up my breakfast 3 bugs literally crawled out of the microwave when I opened the door!!! So horrible. They had a nice TV and good communal areas but would not stay here again.
Overall, the environnent was welcoming and friendly but when I stripped my bed there was blood stains on the mattress protector.. and my ladder to reach my top bunk bed was install up side down and made it pretty impossible and painful to climb up - after telling the manager they offered to fix that the next day (we weren’t staying this long) but did not offer a discount or any compensation. Hence the low rating..
The maintenance and vibe was unfortunately very bad. We booked a private room, but basic equipment and facilities were missing or in bad condition. For example: the toilet was broken, the light was just poorly screwed in lightbulbs that were flickering, with no nightlights. mosquito nets were missing and even though the windows were closed, many mosquitos were in our toilet and bathroom. Towel hooks were missing, a trash can in the shower was missing. The bathroom had a trash can for sanitary na...
umm, yeh, not good
No one in my room locked the door, may not have even worked. The bunkbeds were tied together so anytime someone moved all four beds shook. Kitchen was very cramped.
It’s nice but sadly Rotorua smells like rotten eggs so also in this hostel it smells like rotten eggs. Both kitchens are very small and not that good equipped compared to other hostels. Also not very clean but mostly because people sometimes aren’t able to clean after themselves (doing the dishes for example) It is a good hostel overall and you can definitely stay here but from all hostels we’ve been to rather at the end of the list
Good - cleanliness Bad - Really squeaky bed and stairs that u can hear through the walls and earplugs - kitchen and eating area pretty small for how many people there were
Beds were good, with curtains. Just super super hot, could be because of the weather. They do have fans on the beds though which is nice. Bathrooms are nasty and the shower barely worked. No hot water or any water pressure, and it would randomly shut off on me after about 30 seconds. Staff is nice and helpful though!

This is a great hostel. I would stay here again. The bunk beds are nice with curtains, however you will feel if the other person is moving. The atmosphere is social and welcoming, and the staff were great. The hostel has two small kitchen, with just enough kitchen stuff. Note, they do not have an oven (no frozen pizza for me 🥲)
I only stayed for one night at Crashpalace Rotorua, so I can only say that much. The atmosphere was great and I liked how cheap the price was for all the facilities, even if I haven't really used them. There is two kitchens a lot of place to store food, bathrooms, hot tub, laundry, dining area outside, inside and even upstairs. The rooms are spacious. The staff is super friendly, keen to help. I really appreciated that I could leave my luggage even after I checked out. Thanks!
Un hostel bien localisé, simple & efficace
The beds were very comfy with a lot of storage space but very squeaky. The room was very spacious but not much fresh air (but maybe also because of the Rotorua smell). The kitchen was well equipped with many seating areas. The first floor is a bit seperated from the down stairs seating areas since there are two kitchens. Not the cleanest hostel I had stayed in.
best in Rotorua
Would always come back here!
Good for couple nights
Great hostel, lovely vibe and handy with the parking. THEY HAVE A CAT!!! everyone was friendly, beds were great (curtains and chargers etc), kitchens were the cleanest hostel kicthens i’ve ever been in, only small issue was that there wasn’t consistent hot water in the showers and one toilet was slightly falling off the wall? didn’t impact our stay though - would recommend

They don’t have can openers but one of the staff members helped me opening a can with a knife. The kitchen is very small and they don’t have many cutlery and dishes
Really great hostel! The staff were lovely and it had a nice, friendly vibe to it. The kitchen was pretty small but it did the job, and the toilets and other communal areas were good.
Great place if you’re looking for a cheap room in a perfect location!
Nice friendly staff and very social hostel. Was in a 6 bed dorm that was very spacious but the bunk bed was really rickety and noisy.
Really great hostel with very accommodating staff. Central location in rotorua within walking distance to pretty much everything. Beds have curtains and there are lockers in the rooms. Separate female restroom available. They also let me keep my bags stored at the hostel after checking out before my overnight bus which was so helpful.
Sijainti, henkilökunta +++. . Siisteys hyvä. Huone tilava, puhdas ja lämmin. tuuletin, peili, työpöytä, pyyhkeet sisältyy. Mahtuu iso matkalaukku sängyn alle lukittavaan tilaan. Pistorasia, tuuletin, usb ja valo sängyn vieressä. Pimentävä verho, yksityisyys. Ilmaisia parkkipaikkoja kadulla. Viihtyi...
One of the best hostels in NZ for vibes, feels like how a hostel should be (very refreshing after many chain hostels) - very social but also chill, was easy to talk to people here - good location too!
Greats beds, comfy mattress and storage shelves by each bed which is great. Nice kitchen with plenty of fridges
This place rocks. Great atmosphere and sense of community. Very welcoming and chill. Made good friends here. Staffs great too. Also remember that your room has a free radiator that you can adjust - our first night was very chilly until a staff member noticed the next morning and told us. 10/10
