Hospedaje Los Chocoyos

Basic enough hostel. Very nice location on the lake but very remote. Hostel staff were nice but we were over charged when we booked quad bikes through the hostel and on checkout. Also having to pay for the water was a bit of annoying.

Nice place to wind down after partyung. Beautiful view. Food was ok, room was insanely hot and the water did not work like 50% of our time.

The location was quite nice. Right on the water. The staff was very friendly. The showers were literally a hose, the only sink was sprinkled with mosquitoes and the whole property was kinda improvised I feel like. You had to pay to get drinkable water (10c$) and the breakfast was quite expensive for what you get. My friend was bitten by a scorpion but I suppose that can happen when being so remote. The room was boiling hot, the fans didn’t do a good job.

we stayed for 2 Nights. If you like to have it super Basic this might be a place for you. We did not really like it. super small room..No hostel vibes.. pro: helpful staff and beachview

very nice that the hostel is beachfront. the staff is really sweet and the food is good. we really liked that you could easily rent kayaks. the private room was bare minimum, very basic and not very cozy and there were only few places to chill.

I think this property for some odd reason over rated. It’s location is far from everything. It feels like going back to basics here. Staff is great tho.

The kitchen you csn use is also used by the owners to make the meals people order, so it can feel a bit crowded there since here is only one furnace. The dorms are very small, little room to put your backpack. Great sunset view though!

I really want to rate this place higher as it's a beautiful location, and the family that run it are really sweet (and seem to include LGBTQ members which I think it important to support round here). It's pretty far out the way, so requires a scooter or a $20 taxi, and is VERY rustic. That definitely has its charms, but the bathroom situation was untenable for me - the first two attempts to use the toilets didn't flush, and the first shower didn't drain well. Couldn't hack more than two nights.

The rooms were minimal, there’s only one outlet if you want to keep the fan running which is necessary given strong cleaning supply odor on arrival. Bathrooms were flush toilets but outside, and we booked really looking forward to paddleboards but they didn’t have any to rent during our 4 night stay. Overall, I had a really nice stay. Dorm beds are fine but move the bed a little when in the top bunk. Plugs could be located better. Right next to the lake with good photo spots, sunsets are amazing. Didn’t see any SUPs really, but that was alright. Restaurant is good, too. Breakfast is not included, which would be nice. If you have a motorbike the location is easy to reach. Not many shops and at the time of my stay many restaurants / comedors were closed in the area.

Sehr schön gelegen direkt am Strand, sehr schöne Einrichtungen draußen, Bett war aber leider unbequem. Es ist auf jeden Fall eher ruhig und weniger sozial aber ich habe meine Zeit dort sehr genossen :)

We were very unsure what to expect from this hostel at first but we loved our time here. The facilities are kept very easy so don’t expect any luxury but for us it was great. The outside area was very nice and you can watch the beautiful sunset when you’re sitting in hanging mats or a swing. great place hidden away on a beautiful coast. staff are great, very helpful and the food and drink available are great - necessary if you don't have a scooter or moto. the location is perfect for a Rio Istian kayak trip or the San Ramon cascadas. we had fireflies by the water at sunset and saw an osprey take a fish while I lay in a hammock under a tree, perfect. it's a great place, if basic, but worth it for the sunset alone.

This place is a little gem. It was extraordinary to swim as the spectacular sunset happened, with cold beers and fireflies. It’s a low-key, quiet, family run place that is basic but has all you need. The view of the lake in such a chill, lovely place is one of my trip highlights.

This has been by far one of my favourite hostels ever. When you get here, you may wonder if a mistake was made but the sunset views were worth it. You don’t need to be with 100 other tourists on Playa Mango, the sunset from your room is more amazing. And SOOO many fireflies. Although we were the only ones here, it was so cozy and wholesome and it was really special. If you are looking for a party or ++ social place it’s not the place for you. But the waterfall hike is sooo close! Simply AM...

We loved our stay here. It was only for one night but the place is very tranquil and relaxing. Basic facilities with hammocks and cervezas right on the water. It’s close to playa mango and playa Peru. The staff were super nice and friendly. We also saw fireflies 😃

C’est le type de lieu que j’adore au bord de l’eau loin de tout. Famille accueillante, cuisine excellente, juste un peu difficile a trouver car pas indiqué. Mais il suffit de descendre la rue qui et à côté de l’école

J’ai passé un séjour de 3 jours incroyable et magnifique à Los Chocoyos. Le personnel est d’une gentillesse et d’une délicatesse exceptionnelle Le lieu est tout simplement un havre de paix! Je reviendrais car j’y ai laissé mon cœur

Unser Zimmer (Doppelbett und ein Einzelbett) befand sich in einem separaten Haus etwas vom Hauptgebäude entfernt, womit wir nicht gerechnet hatten. Es war sauber, groß und hatte eine bequeme Matratze. In der Nebensaison ist dort wenig los, aber der Ort hat Potenzial für eine richtig tolle Atmosphäre. Außerdem ist der Blick auf den See bei Sonnenuntergang überwältigend!

Lovely peaceful place with a lot of attention from the hostel owners. They are one big family which makes the atmosphere very warm and welcoming. They helped me with anything I asked for and the food at the restaurant was really good too. When you wake up in the morning you can immediately dip in the lake, such a dream.

Süsses kleines Hostel direkt am See. Alles sehr natürlich und es hat einen wunderschönen Garten. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und das Essen super lecker! Perfekt für alle die Ruhe suchen und die Natur geniessen möchten.

Really great hostel. The family that run the place are super nice and accommodating. Very good for the price and in a great location if you have a bike which everyone’s main form of transport when on the island. Food is also delicious and cheap and you have access to a nice part of the lake to swim in. Would highly recommend staying at this hostel. Don’t be put off by it not being near the main hostels in Santa Cruz, it’s probably the best option outside of rain dance.

At first as you approach, you wonder where you are, then you realize you have found a peaceful beautiful place. The hostel is clean and offers healthy menu. enjoy
