Hostel N1 in Sofia - Stay & Play by the Rules

Don’t be put off by the “rules” they are common sense about being respectful for other travellers. It was quiet when I was there but there was a very chill vibe which meant people could just do what they wanted (within the rules!). The only thing I found strange was not automatically being given a key for the door and needing to ask for one (within a deposit)

I was bitten by bed bugs here (standard 6 bed mixed room)

I stayed one night there and the quality of service was exceptional in regards to the price. Amenities are practical and they even lend towel. Lot of nearby food and beverages opportunities Big thanks to Nina that was very accomodating and helpful during my stay

The hostel is located right in the centre of Sofia. Good instructions to find it. Staff were friendly and welcoming I have given the hostel only 4 stars. There is nothing at all wrong with the hostel, I just felt it could be improved, perhaps the lighting or the decoration

I think this is the best hostel in Sofia. I felt safe as a solo traveler (21F). Nina, the owner, was the sweetest to me and made the whole experience. The 4-female basic room was fine even though it was 2° outside. They had extra blankets so I was good. Only thing is that there was no lock on the room which I didn’t love but it is a quite safe hostel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hostel. It’s so central so we basically walked everywhere. The staff is very nice and helpful and at night it was calm so we could sleep.

My first time youth-hosteling with a friend. We really enjoyed our time at Hostel No.1. We explored Sofia and environs during the day so quite tired by the evening so 'all the rules' were appreciated! I actually liked the quiet mornings too, felt like a silent retreat-peacef! We met lots of friendly guests and Nina, the receptionist, was very helpful. We used her 'google translate' on her phone and anything we asked she accommodated, even looking after our bags after our official checkout time.

I recommend to stay at the BlaBla Hostel which is just 5min walk from this hostel. The rooms are bigger, there are more bathrooms and they are cleaner.

Great location and facilities but the volunteer staff seem a bit lost! There are a lot of rules but it's safe and clean and friendly.

Terrible stay at this place. The guy didnt know what price we have to pay. Everything is expensive : locker, check in after hours… We were in a deluxe room but nothing seems deluxe… cant imagine others rooms In each bathroom, there is only 2 showers (for all the hostel) separated with curtains… Water was cold at 9PM, the receptionist says he will fix it tomorrow but people say that it was already like that days before. To avoid absolutely !!

Shower is terrible but the rooms are clean and there are plenty of outlets

Perfect location, and easy socializing. The hostel also offers great and cheap 1 day trips!

The lady who worlks there is so sweet and everyone around is nice. Definitly recommended!

Franchement, j’ai passé un super moment à Sofia. L’ambiance était vraiment au rendez-vous, tout était beau et bien organisé. Un énorme merci surtout à Nina. C’est une personne incroyablement bienveillante, attentionnée et toujours à l’écoute. Elle met tout de suite à l’aise et elle fait vraiment la différence. It's basic, but basic good. Extra points for the heated beds.

This hostel is very quiet, but it can also be a little strange having to whisper at night. Bathrooms could be a little cleaner. The kitchen is nice with free tea and coffee

I enjoyed my stay here. Very comfortable hostel and il definitely return next time I’m in Sofia

10/10 ! I loved this hostel. I highly recommend taking the tour. I met lots of great friends from the hostel, and we spent the rest of our time in Sofia touring the city together. Dina, the receptionist, was an absolute gem. I am so grateful to her! She was so lovely

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Bedrooms were very clean. Bathrooms were a little small and not the best I’ve stayed in but overall a good place to stay - good location and facilities.

Très jolie auberge, avec un balcon et une localisation parfaite. La cuisine est bien équipée de même que les douches. Les bénévoles étaient tous très gentils et amicaux ! Les coûts additionnels sont trop élevés en revanche (5 euros de caution pour un badge ou un cadenas, 10 euros pour la lessive, 8 euros pour un contact tardif, etc).
