Kona Tau

This place has a ton of potential with the understanding that it is hard to get resources on that island. I just feel that the ownership could have a little more pride. The first 2 night I had no hot water. There was no screens on the windows, no fan, no air-conditioning. The sheets were stained and dirty. The blanket stunk like dog. I guess you get what you pay for but other than that a beautiful place and tons of potential.

I wouldn’t recommend this place The receptionist Sam Was very rude with the check in process I arrived from the airport And rather then check me in Said he needs to pick people up from the airport and vanished for 30 minutes When he returned he then checked in the people from the airport before myself. At which point I had to leave for a show He was never at the desk for me to pay Eventually he Bursts into my room at 11pm - wakes me up asking for money - really weird

Run away from this hostel. Seen cockroach and so many bugs. Says 4-bed but actually it is 5-bed. NO WIFI!! Host lies to take advantage of the guest. Had a flight at 16:30 but told me I have to go to the airport at 12pm with the other guests who had 14:30 flight.

Hostel was pretty average. Not really a hostel just sort of an extension of their house. Nice family and people and all but didn’t speak English and were never really there to help when needed. Warm water for showers and room was comfy. Probably more worth your money for a hotel though to be honest

maybe my expectations were too high for a hostel with such a good rating but I felt the standard of facilities was not so good and despite saying tours offered, they are not for English speakers.

Overall, this hostel was very basic, however it did the job and allowed me to explore the island from a decently central location for a decent price. I didn’t speak Spanish and the staff didn’t speak English, but were still trying to be very helpful. My shower didn’t have hot water, and there wasn’t much of a social vibe at the hostel, but I was able to meet people at the cultural dancing shows in town which was nice. Internet was very patchy, but this is the case across the island too.

overall had a nice stay. as it's basically one room, the atmosphere is really dependent on the people you're with, otherwise it's pretty non existent. Staff were incredibly nice, although it was hard actually finding them. Location is quite good, simple walking distance from the airport and pretty much anything else you might want to do in town.

Samuel is super friendly/helpful - positive energy from the get-go. The hostel is spacious, the rooms are a nice size. I stayed in a 4 persons all female room. I really liked that the beds weren't bunk beds. The hostel has chickens running around, chicks too! Super cute!! The location is about 10-15 min walk away from the main road. The sense of community/security was really nice too.

Nicole et Nestor ont ete adorables! Ils ont rendu mon expérience incroyable! Ambiance +++ J’ai eu une chambre privée au lieu d’un dortoir 2 lits car personne n’était avec moi. Sami is great and welcoming, I missed him at the airport and walked to the hostel without realizing that he was there to pick up other guests who were checking in the same day. No biggie though as it wasn't communicated prior. Be aware that English-speaking tours are not offered every day (only Spanish) and the recommend tour agencies by the hostel were non-existent. It is a rustic hostel with some rustic issues, but super friendly and helpful staff. When there are enough guests, a shuttle service to/from the beach on the other side of the island at a low cost. Tours only offered in Spanish and only on certain days. To respond to previous comments, there IS wifi now. One-day laundry service for 5,000 pesos. Make sure you swim with sea turtles in town next to Pea restaurant. The cemetery and church service are must sees because of the extreme local flavor.
