Its a cute campsite but for what you are paying this does not cut it. Has gotten popular and expensive (TikTok?) but for 240 AUD/room which we paid we would much rather have stayed somewhere else. + probably 50 people got up for sunrise, trying to see kangaroos jumping in the water, but it got ruined by a guy fishing and some loud/noisy and very young backpackers (not the campsites fault). Very simple accommodation, and not comfy beds/rooms. Staff was very nice and shared bathrooms were clean.
Great location & staff nice but cost >400 dollars for 2 nights and it was really dirty, had a bug in the bed and a dead cockroach behind the toilet. There was no heating so we were freezing too. Overall, would not come again.
DO NOT STAY HERE I think this is the worst place i stayed my whole east coast trip. It is in the middle of nowhere and the transport time table is awful. The staff at reception are the rudest people i’ve ever met and it wasn’t just me who thought this. The rooms were full of bugs, the bathroom block was disgusting. The one good thing i have to say is that the bus drivers were the most helpful and kindest people ever.
The shuttle bus is not very convenient with the greyhound bus. They block Netflix, YouTube and other sites on wifi I did laundry it still came out smelling dirty
vreselijk hostel. ik snap niet dat het gemiddelde zo hoog ligt! het is smerig, er wordt amper schoongemaakt. er zijn 3 douches en 4 wc's voor het gehele hostel, veelste weinig. 1 kraan in de keuken voor het hele hostel en een paar gaspitten. de kamer is enorm klein, je kan je tas niet eens kwijt. belachelijk slecht hostel en veelste duur! het idee is leuk, de uitvoering waardeloos.
awful hostel. i don't get that the average is so high! it's dirty, it's barely cleaned. there are 3 showers and 4 toilets for the whole hostel, mostly little. 1 faucet in the kitchen for the whole hostel and a few gaspitts. the room is enormously small, i can't even lose your bag. ridiculously bad hostel and mostly expensive! the idea is nice, the execution worthless.
We arrived here around 5:30-6pm whilst it was raining and pitch black, when checking in we were just pointed to the direction of our room with little explanation of facilities while we saw others the next day being given a little tour. When walking to our accom there was no pathway or lights or any signs to the numbered tents- luckily i was with a friend but if had been alone would’ve been really scared baring in mind it’s in a forest. Also note the kangaroos across the lake is super rare!!!...
Booking was not clear enough that room was a tent with no air con - unenjoyable experience - bathrooms dirty throughout day (used sanitary products on floor of shower) -
Not a place for backpackers. They only have 4 busses to the city as non of that machetes the greyhound bus even though they advertise that they do. The staff was horrible and promise you something they can’t, others talk very rudely to you And they is so many people they, everyone is hoping to see kangaroos, but that is not possible then people is standing inside the forest
Great location to try and see kangaroos and sunrise and Everglades however rooms very small and cramped with no space to leave bags. Overpriced for very basic facilities. Staff were very friendly though!
Die Lage der Unterkunft ist zwar gut, leider sind die Waschräume ziemlich dreckig, überall liegen Haare und Dreck. Auch die Küche ist nicht sonderlich sauber. Die Zimmer (4er Raum) sind viel zu klein für 4 Leute, wir mussten unsere Koffer draußen auspacken. Leider die bisher schlechteste Unterkunft in unserer Reise, trotz guter Lage. Dazu der Preis ist es nicht wert
The location of the accommodation is good, unfortunately the bathrooms are pretty dirty, hair and dirt everywhere. Also the kitchen is not particularly clean. The rooms (4er Raum) are far too small for 4 people, we had to unpack our bags outside. Unfortunately the worst accommodation so far in our trip, despite good location. Besides the price it is not worth it.

Staff were friendly here and sunrise across the lake was beautiful although we didn’t get to see the kangaroos jump across. We did see many kangaroos around the site and in the fields which was lovely. There are also a lot of different types of birds, although these can be loud in the morning. Rooms are a little basic with only one main light (no individual side lights) or individual shelves by the beds. Good for a night or two.
Before you book check the shuttle times, it's free but they run at odd times so make sure you can get here as the last bus from Noosa is about 6pm. This hostel is in a national park, surrounded by wild kangaroos and wildlife. The kitchen is great, with enough space, stoves, and storage for the amount of people staying here. It is always clean and there are always staff around should you need anything. If you arrive on the shuttle, the staff will give you a little tour and explain everything.
Heerlijke plek, midden in de natuur. Wees je ervan bewust dat het hostel vrij ver van het centrum is, er rijd een gratis bus tot 17u. Je ziet gegarandeerd kangeroes en het hostel heeft een fijne atmosfeer
Be aware that the hostel is quite far from the center, there is a free bus ride until 17h. you are guaranteed to see kangaroos and the hostel has a nice atmosphere
Schönes Erlebnis. Vielleicht sollte man es eher als Glamping/Camping ansehen als ein Hostel um Enttäuschungen zu vermeiden wie in gewissen anderen Kommentaren. Es ist sehr abgelegen, man sollte also Essen mitbringen wenn man kein Auto hat. Die Kängurus waren überall und nicht scheu. Natürlich sollte man sie trotzdem nicht anfassen, da es Wildtiere sind. Beim Sonnenaufgang habe ich sie leider icht gesehen.
Maybe one should think of it more as Glamping/Camping as a Hostel to avoid disappointments as in certain other Comments. It is very remote, one should also bring food with one if one does not have a car. The Kangaroos were everywhere and not afraid. Of course one should not touch them anyway, as they are Wild Animals. At sunrise I have seen them in the lead icht.
As a solo female traveler I don’t always find many options for relaxing and rejuvenating in nature without feeling unsafe or isolated, so this was the perfect spot! It felt like being back at summer camp with nature walks, cute cabins, an outdoor communal cooking area, and the a lake for swimming. Staff was so lovely and kept everything clean and quiet at night. Would definitely return!
I only stayed for one night but wish Id stayed longer, most people come to see the kangaroos at sunrise but the place offers so much more. Everglade tours, bush walks, has a well equipped bar and restaurant that serves great food on the premises. You'll also get to see loads of wild life as the kangaroos roam the property and loads of different reptiles made appearances while I was here too. The staff is also very lovely and will help you out with any questions you have. The beds in the shared
Great experience, staff were all friendly and welcoming and big al fresco kitchen. We got unlucky with the weather so no sunrise but saw lots of kangaroos. Great bistro bar and walks.
I really recommend staying here if you're in Noosa, it's such a unique place! I was afraid not being able to see kangaroos as they're totally free and wander around. But fortunately I saw sooo many of them throughout the day. The owner (I suppose) was welcoming, and gave great piece of advice about spotting kangaroos for sunrise. It's really a matter of luck... The 6 person safari tent was very clean! It was super cool to sleep in such a unique place. We saw lots of kangaroos and iguanas around. The Kangarooms bathrooms need a bit more cleaning, the campsite bathrooms were cleaner. The restaurant was nice and we enjoyed the $15 pizza. The free shuttle was AMAZING!! Such a nice driver and very easy and quick.
Lovely to be around the kangaroos and the free shuttle service was great. Decent hostel with fairly clean common areas. Room was quite small but again clean. Outdoor kitchen was busy and not super well equipped and wasn’t the cleanest. Strict lights out at 9pm in the kitchen and common area meant that it felt more like a curfew and that you had to go back to your room. Got told off when sitting quietly in the kitchen area after this time. Felt quite patronised.
Overall a really nice time at kangarooms. Could not fault the staff they were very helpful and super friendly all the time. We booked a queen room and we’re pretty happy with everything in the room, they even give you a broom with a dust pan and brush as you do bring a lot of dirt and leaves in with you! I hab an awesome stay in the Kangarooms. The facilities are very clean and the staff is super cool and friendly. I can highly recommend this hostel
That's an amazing hostel!! A looot of cangurus. Incredible rooms with perfect staff, restaurant and bar.
Great place for seeing the kangaroos and generally relaxing. Dorms are clean and great but as the kitchen is outside just be aware of bugs.
Very cool location and even though could not do anything due to huge storm was still nice to watch all the kangaroos. Good kitchen area with everything you need. Inside lounge quite comfortable though lacking in places to charge.

Lovely place to stay for a few nights. Good activities. Toilets and showers were clean. Open air kitchen which was clean too. Staff were so helpful and friendly! The safari tents arw also great for a ‘camping’ vibe
Absolutely incredible hostel! Just please be aware that this is not a party hostel and not too social :) It’s very chill, there are kangaroos everywhere and you can go see them at the lake in the morning. Would absolutely recommend staying here!
Very nice kitchen, and the shuttlebus to the city is a big plus. Just be aware that the bus drive is about a 45 min drive and it runs 4 times a day each way. But very nice hostel, and fun to see all the wallabies upclose.
Very nice host and great ability to see kangaroos and do tours of the Everglades. Highly recommend!! THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOSTEL - it’s to chill out in the nature and touch some grass.
