I don’t usually leave bad ratings, but this hostel was not the best. It had a good breakfast, and a great view, but that’s about all it had going for it. There’s a huge hill to walk up with your luggage. We had to wait for the staff to take a smoke break in order to check in. Showers turn off after 10 seconds. Staff kept hounding us about not making the bed properly? There’s also only one outlet in each room. And lockers cost 2 franks every use… also, kids were EVERYWHERE. Very weird...
concerning things - very steep and i have seen people getting fall off the way while carrying their luggage. - must include bus service every 30 mint from bottom to top. -staff is okay. - no soap/handwah in bathroom. -
reception closed until 16:00, beds not made, no communal kitchen, my card has been charged without consent prior to arrival, at arrival they make you pay city tax (why dont they put it in the price), and if you have some heavy luggage, i guarantee you the 900m walk between the train station and hostel will be the longest 900m you will ever walk. in the dorms there is only one charging port on the ground, nothing close to beds.
Really rough location. Wouldn’t recommend walking there
Super busy, you’re bumping into people trying to cook lol, location is amazing, stunning views. Breakfast was good too. Only one shared bathroom can get busy lol
Views were beautiful, food was not good, except the donuts which were great. Horrible arrangement of beds. Also, why did they think it was okay to have one girl and 2 guys in a room, in which one bed is right next to the other? Receptionist was awesome. Location for closeness to everything not great
Lovely views from the room, breakfast was good, however the wifi was pretty poor in the rooms
By no means whatsoever is this a “youth” hostel. There were people other than myself younger than their late 20s. It was full of people in their 40s with families. The location was not great either, it was far from anything up a giant hill. This wouldn’t be a problem if the busses didn’t stop running early. Dinner and breakfast ended early as well. Would not recommend.
Take the 122 bus up from the train station, that will save you from walking up the MASSIVE hill to get to this place - that isnt in the info, but absolutely should be. The beautiful hot tub in the pictures? It costs 125CHF for an evening in it. The only reason I booked this hostel was the hot tub, but was super bummed that it was so outrageously expensive - the cost to use that should also be in the info.

So easy, so lovely!!!
Overall a great place to stay! Great views- overall process was easy from check in to check out. We even extended our stay a second and third night

Huge locker, glorious view, nice breakfast…. Everything make the amazing trip lovely
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend tbe hostel. It has nice flair, equipment and friendly staff. Thoug the rooms could include more charching stations and the bus ticket should be made available before check-in so arriving at the hostel is more convenient.

Room was very nice, although clearly geared up for winter rather than summer (fleecy bed sheets & no aircon/bit of a sun trap). Not a very social hostel- mainly school kids on a trip. Location is a bit of a nightmare as it’s up a bit hill but for relatively cheap accommodation while doing some hikes it can’t be beaten. Would be good if female only dorms were availablw
10/10 hostel. Would recommend to anyone visiting Grindelwald. Worth the price.
had a great stay, only problem with the room was a lack of outlets would be nice if they had an extension cord so everyone had their own, otherwise good room
Lovely views from the room, breakfast was good, however the wifi was pretty poor in the rooms
Everythibg worked well, clean rooms and bathrooms, great breakfast and an amazing view
I’m so glad I stayed here!
The most amazing view ever, I met nice friends and lovely rooms
One of my favourite hostels I’ve ever stayed in! The views from the balcony and from my room window were stunning. It’s the perfect place to unwind. It is very steep to reach by foot (I completely underestimated how steep) but without luggage it’s entirely doable. My only gripe was putting on and taking off the sheets, didn’t love that. Would definitely stay here again though.
This hostel was super cozy and it was always super clean. The location is a bit annoying to get too as it’s pretty much straight hill to get up too. But with it being on a pretty high hill it has an absolutely fabulous view, like honestly breathtaking. But there was only like 3 plug sockets and they were all in one corner of the room and not near the beds which is a bit annoying but not the worse. But all in all seemed pretty modern and a really nice stay! Would defo stay here again!!
The staff is very friendly, we had booked two single beds in a shared room and they were able to accommodate us in a private double. They have bathrooms on each level and we didn't have to wait to bathe. They have only one washer and dryer so I recommend bringing change as it works with coins. The place has beautiful views but the ideal is to arrive by bus as it is uphill and getting up with bags could be difficult. Breakfast is very good and you can also pay for dinner
Don’t listen to the bad reviews!! This hostel is so nice. It is by no means a party hostel but for relaxing in a cozy cottage like location in the mountains it is perfect. The breakfast is so good, the rooms are spacious and cute with amazing views of the mountains, the staff are very kind and the bathrooms are clean. Only small downside is the showers have a button you have to push every 10 seconds. Overall though this is an amazing mountain hostel that I can’t recommend enough!
Loved our stay! Beautiful hostel, the view was 100% worth it
