Silo Design & Boutique Hostel

The staff was not that helpfull. We needed to check in ourselves and it felt like they wanted to speak to us as little as possible. We got no introduction to the facility and had to figure out where we would sleep by ourselves. I did not either like that they pulled the money from my account before we checked in. We had payed our deposition and expected to pay ones we arrieved. The doorms felt like bunkers and we had to pay extra for blankets even tho we the hostel was quite expensive.

Very good hostel, that is merged with architecture ateliers. There are workers going there each morning. Otherwise, rather small hostel with a very cozy living room. Not a super social hostel in terms of activity, but you can meet roommates, not a party hostel. Great for co-working as well. Free breakfast is simple, but high quality. Prices are high, typical swiss problem though. Only one tiny breakfast coffee, second costs 4,50 CHF. Unfortunately, the living room closes at night no socializing

The hostel itself was really lovely, rooms were cool and spacious, and was really happy with the showers, breakfast etc. The location was just quite awkward unfortunately, by a viaduct with nothing really around. And very oddly the duvets come with an single sheet to layer with the bare duvet, which I didn't love as you have no idea who's used the duvet before you.

I only stayed one night but I really didn’t like it. No staff on site, zero atmosphere, no communal areas, bathrooms missing toilet paper, beds not very comfortable. Location is middle of nowhere with very little nearby. No chance I would stay here again

Clean hostel, easy to walk or bus to the old town area, but it's unclear if there are any staff that actually work here, which caused little issues (many people were confused by the check-in process, and when there were no paper towels in the bathroom, there was nobody to tell) and there is no atmosphere at all. I didn't even realize there was a common area until I saw a little notice on my last day there. Otherwise there are some lobby couches and meeting spaces that were often locked.

There was not much of a hostel “feel”, few staff around, no kitchen. There is a restaurant that is extremely expensive for the amount of food or drinks you get. I was disappointed with the food. The facility itself was very quiet but located in a neighborhood between a busy Highway and high rise apartments. It’s a historic building but a hostel here seems out of place. There were two of us staying in a double room but only one towel. Not a great value for the money.

Very clean, staff lovely but there weren’t the kitchen and bar facilities you have in most hostels that generate a good atmosphere. Double room was big and en-suite was good

Silo was super clean & the aesthetic was superb. The location was a bit of a walk from public transit, but it's a safe walk. I loved how the rooms had plenty of hooks, and I believe that all hostels can never have too many hooks on walls and in bed spaces. Free breakfast was hugely appreciated, and they accommodated gluten-free needs. 🙏🏼 One area of improvement would be to add full power outlet ports in each bedpod. Pros: The hostel was very clean and spacious. Cons: There is no kitchen. They don’t even have a microwave! Absolutely no social aspect to this hostel. A bit far to walk into the main area of Basel. Staff were basically never on site. I saw maybe 2 people during my stay for a few minutes total. If you want a hotel experience where you have to share a room, go for it. If you want a hostel to meet travellers and cook your meals, stay somewhere else.

I had the pleasure of staying at Silo Design and Boutique Hostel during my visit to Basel in November for 5 nights in a female dorm room. The staff were insanely accommodating, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a wonderful stay. From the moment I checked in, they went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcome and at home. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but what really sets Silo apart is the staff. Super helpful my whole stay.

One of the best hostels. Safe, clean and well maintained. It is not so close to the downtown, but is excellent.

Très bonne auberge, moderne avec tout ce qu'il faut pour passer une bonne nuit. Les chambres sont énormes! Il n'y a pas de rideau sur les lits. Il y a un grand nombre de toilettes et douches communes très propres! Pas très loin de la gare de Badel Bad. On peut accéder au centre avec le tram. L'auberge donne accès à la Baselcard (transports gratuits à Bâle et rabais sur des musées). Il y a un café sympa très tranquille et cozy quand j'y étais

Beautifully designed space! It’s easy to get to the hostel too and can take the bus from the city centre in approx 15 mins. Free breakfast was good, high quality, but not much choice. Staff were lovely. Only downside for me was I thought the beds had a sliding ‘door’ or something to pull along for privacy, it turned out 3 other girls in my dorm thought similar and that’s why they’d booked it. Außergewöhnliche sehr moderne und gut durchdachte Unterkunf. Sehr toll eingerichtet und super Frühstück. Auch toll das die öffis inklusive sind 👍

Clean and cheap, comfy beds and plenty of space in the rooms. Very modern. However poor facilities, communal areas poor and no one used this because of that so very secluded. Very secure and safe but out of the main areas.

One of the best hostels I’ve been to. Breakfast is exquisite - small but everything I wanted and of very high quality. Large rooms - quiet and clean. I wish they had female only dorms though.

Einzigartiges Gebäude mit einer tollen Atmosphäre, das Silo war sehr sauber, das Personal total entgegenkommend und herzlich. Ich komme gerne wieder 🤗

Silo is beautifully maintained with an excellent and helpful staff. Located close to public transit and a supermarket. The included breakfast was a wonderful treat. I would highly recommend Silo and would definitely stay there again.

I was only here for one night and it did the job but I’m glad I didn’t have any more nights. It was nice and clean, literally can’t comment on the staff as I didn’t meet any, self check in was easy but I realised I had brought the wrong adaptor and there was no one to ask about borrowing. Location wasn’t great, didn’t feel too comfortable walking there at night time but has public transport close by Wasn’t a very social hostel, wouldn’t go here to make friends.

Esperienza molto positiva. Da sottolineare la qualità dei servizi, tra cui la Baselcard gratuita e l'ottima colazione. La struttura è bellissima e davvero pulita, così come le camere. Non è in centro ma i collegamenti ci sono e con la Baselcard sono anche inclusi nel prezzo!
