Jungle City Hostel

Hele onprettige ervaring! In de avond kwam de zoon van de eigenaresse “mama” in mijn bed liggen… Ik ging er gelijk uit om het te vertellen, dit werd totaal niet serieus genomen. Ze zei dat hij vast probeerde om in het bed boven mij te gaan liggen en dat hij niet zou weten dat ik daar lag (wat onzin is want hij heeft mij zelf naar de kamer gebracht die middag). In de middag had hij ook een knuffel gegeven waarbij mijn billen werden aangeraakt. Meiden denk 2x na voordat je dit boekt!

The rooms are not fully closed, there is an gap between the ceiling and roof. Which allow bugs and miskitos to enter your dorm. Breakfast was included, but the host still make us pay for the omelette. We paid almost 6 euro for 1 omelette!

The main positive of this stay was a young lad who was very nice and helpful to us, especially when we were trying to plan our days. However, a lot of the amenities listed don’t exist. The main challenge we found was there was zero air conditioning. The compensation was to offer two fans, which didn’t really work. The beds were uncomfortable and there was zero atmosphere. The location also isn’t great as it is slightly out of the way and the train passes by creating a racket when trying to...

It seems like this place used to be great, but has been in decay over the last couple of months. Rooms were dirty, the shower facilities looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The entire building was in a pretty rough shape. We were the only guests there. The guy who worked there was very kind and helpful! But the entire place felt and looked abandoned and gave us kinda bad vibes.

Mama is a lovely host and welcomed us very warmly! Unfortunately our room was not very well equipped, the upper bunk bed is missing a frame and we didn't feel safe sleeping on the top. Not all beds had mosquito nets (and there were a lot of mosquitoes at night).

Ok. Very minimalistic when it comes to facilities and location is 30 min walk from Galle city center. No lockers to put your bags and stuff. While owner is nice she charged for breakfast (1000 lkr for toast and butter which is ridiculous) even though it is clearly written that breakfast is included.

Mama is very kind and helpful, although the place is not what i thought it would be considering the rating. Very unclean, got bitten alot during the nights, flies, ants bugs everywhere and no air conditioning in the room, just a simple fan which made the room hotter than a sauna anyways. The place is also a bit out, i would consider choosing another hostel.

Mama is lovely & I enjoyed getting to know her. However, I felt ripped off by my payment at the very end. Charged 3900rs for 3.9 kg of laundry (an exaggeration by approx. 1kg, having now weighed my items elsewhere), and 2500rs for a chicken kottu (advertised much less on the board). My first stop in Sri Lanka so wasn’t sure of prices but now see that these are ridiculous. You are charged everything on checkout so please give yourselves time to dispute your balance (or use other facilities).

- Location: Hard to find, difficult to enter, waited outside. - Meals: Dinner served at 9 pm, long after eating elsewhere. - Payment: Difficulty paying. - Exit: Couldn't exit in the morning, had to find locks and jump the gate. - Overall: Challenging experience, would consider skipping Galle altogether next time.

Sachin was the best, very helpful and made me feel safe even though the whole property was vacant the night I stayed. Thank u sachin and his sister for the service.

Iets verder weg van het levende centrum als we van te voren dachten, dus je moet wel steeds met een tuktuk ergens heen. verder prima

Sehr netter Vermieter, Zimmer ist halt offen zur Natur durch das Bad, dadurch waren bei uns viele Moskitos und andere Tiere im Zimmer. Das Essen war gut und sonst war es ein guter Aufenthalt.

The hostel makes you feel very safe and comfortable! I would reccomend it. But the location is not the best you have to take the tuktuk or bus to get into the city center. Thank you for the lovely stay!

the hosts that were there were great and very nice. however, the infamous "mama" was not, so we didnt get the authentic experience everyone raves about in the reviews. the place is 2 km from downtown so you get a feel for the local area rather than the touristy fort area. i was also expecting more from the "jungle". its just some trees and bushes in the yard. there no chairs or hammocks to hangout outside either.

I stayed at this hostel on December 3, 2024, and I was the only guest that day. The owner was very kind and took me to one of the beautiful beaches in Galle, which was a wonderful experience. The view from the room was incredible, but the place was full of mosquitoes, so it's best to come prepared with protection. The breakfast, though decent, was a bit expensive. Overall, it was a good stay!

my experience will be different to most people's as when I arrived no one else was booked to the hostel and the owner was away. her nephew was helpful and kind but it was a very different experience to normal I think. the area is quite out of the way and in a lovely place not too far from Galle so if you're looking to explore a bit further away from the tourist center it's great for that.

The hostess is one of the nicest people I‘ve ever met! I had amazing talks and nice food there :) it is a little far from the main attraction (galle fort) but you can take a bus close by :)

Perfect hostel stay! The lady was very nice, she cooked and made breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hostel you wont regret it!❤️

Great hostel. Felt more like a Homestay! Lovely spacious room but what made it better was the family there! They were so helpful and kind and really made us all feel like at home! Mama and Shahi were so lovely! The facilities were fabulous and really made our stay very comfortable! Highly recommend!

I felt like home in this beautiful hostel! The AC room was very comfortable and had an awesome bathroom. Can definitely recommend when staying in Galle
