The Green Elephant Hostel & Spa

De slaap pods zijn mega gehorig. Gasten houden geen rekening met elkaar. Van 2:00 tot 5:00 komen er geregeld mensen thuis met enorm lawaai. Kinderen die vervolgens van 6:00-8:00 aan het huilen zijn. Verder draait er de hele nacht een luchtsysteem. Wc’s die goor worden achter gelaten en badkamers waarvan de hele vloer bezaaid is met rotzooi zijn geen zeldzaamheid. Verder voor een prijs van €120 per nacht het zeker niet waard. Wij raden aan om een hotelkamer te vinden.

Stayed for one night, January 2025. We (partner and I) rented a Basic Double Bed Private Shared Bathroom. We stayed on the 2nd floor. Summary; overcharged tourist tax, blood-stained pillow, dirty duvets, shower troubles. (Staff was really nice, tho.) Overall, it wasn't great, and I wouldn't recommend it. Super expensive for what they offer. The toilet is extremely dirty and it was freezing in the room. The staff were clueless

Had a private room. Staff was nice but the hostel felt and costed more like a hotel. Had a hidden fee through Hostelworld. The complimentary smoothie didn’t feel free because of how much I paid for the room; they want you to think you’re getting free stuff, like the towel that they say is sometimes free if you ask for one. Dit concept trekt op niks. Je betaalt dus meer om in een soort cabine-sauna te slapen waar je levend gekookt wordt, die in een slaapzaal staan en je dus met 180 anderen slaapt. Veel geluiden, een constant gezoem, mensen die tv kijken,... De saunas zijn van niet duurzame materialen gemaakt dus "eco" zou ik dit niet noemen, het ruikt er naar toiletten en schimmel. De leefruimte is heel leuk als er geen kinderen op schoolreis zijn of groepen dertigers een feest geven. Eco-kapitalisten noem ik ze :)

Ik vond het bedrag van 146, 22 voor 1 nacht voor 1 persoon te prijzig. Locatie was top.

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my stay. The check in process took very long, staff were nice and friendly however the beds weren’t ready at 4pm and I was able to only access the lockers at that time. I stayed at the 14bed mixed dorm, unfortunately the room smelled bad and was extremely cold at night. And sleep was overall bad especially because of the brightness of the exit sign light - it was almost as bright as daylight and went right on my face. Totally not worth 50€ per night!!

I didn’t enjoy my stay. I was in a large mixed dorm. When I arrived it stunk of sweat/BO and cigarettes from people smoking in the garden outside with windows opened. I was one of 2 women in the otherwise male dorm and was still allocated to share bunks with much older men instead of any women. Got 0 sleep due to extremely loud snoring, alarms, and the very bright exit sign that illuminated my bed. Some hostel staff rude/lazy. Walk through rain to get to dorm. Toilets dirty, bathroom stank.

The room is just a tiny square, made of wood, like a claustrophobic box. The photos posted online are absolutely absurd, in which they do not show the size of the rooms or what they are made of - very thin wood, which you can hear from the hallway. In addition, it was necessary to pay an extra fee upon arrival, the only place I've done this in 15 countries, a fee not reported anywhere.

Not good value at all. The pods are tiny - if you are travelling and have big backpacks then there’s no room to stand. We had to take it in turns getting changed. Also there’s zero noise isolation so you can hear everything in the room around from the other pods. You’ll definitely need earplugs as we were woken up about 5 times by noisy people leaving the hostel / getting back at 4am. Normally in a dorm room people have a bit more respect because they can see everyone sleeping but because ...

trash bins in the toilet need to emptied frequently there were no water boiler or cups with handles in the kitchen for making and drinking tea. the lights in the eating area next to the kitchen were missing, it was not bright enough

The staff were amazing and super helpful. The location was perfect and its is a great vibe at the hostel. The welcome drink on arrival was a highlight.

When I arrived no one showed me around nor told me where the kitchen etc. is. Also the kitchen is poorly equipped and the bathroom on my floor lacked paper. The mixed doorm is cold and the shower room for women has big windows which have no curtains. Also not the most clean place I have stayed in (toilet stinks). Also not a social place. But its very central and if you like to explore the city solo in a day or two this hostel should be okay.

The Green Elephant, a place I will never forget. Hamet the manager is a great caring man & makes amazing cocktails. The staff are so helpful & always smiling 😁. The rooms are modern, warm, spotless & the beds are so comfortable. Free coffee & tea all day long. I had a wonderful stay at the green elephant. I was only here for 2 nights unfortunately but had I not had my flight already booked I would have stayed longer! The hostel was clean, peaceful and the staff were very welcoming. I stayed in the bunk bed pods which were cute and cosy but enough space for me. The hostel is about a 3 minute walk from Maastricht station and about 15 minutes from the centre of Maastricht where you can enjoy restaurants, cafes and gorgeous streets! Wonderful!

Banheiros limpos e bem equipados. Cama confortável. Porém cada noite que eu chegava tinha uma pessoa dormindo na minha cama e tinham que me realocar toda noite. Falta de organização absurda!!! Ainda o gerente foi super grosso e ríspido, como se a culpa de ter gente dormindo na minha cama fosse minha.

Bathrooms a bit smelly sometimes and there was a loudish whirring noise on our level the whole time

Staff were very friendly, and hostel has chill vibes. But I am not sure about daily cleaning of common toilets.

Good hostel, it was clean and good location, didnt feel its social though :)

Total gemütlich in den Holzkästen zu schlafen. Schöner Aufenthaltsbereich. Die Gemeinschaftsküche könnte deutlich besser ausgestattet sein. Cool ist der Spa Bereich.

I have not met kinder and excellent staff. I was greeted with kindness and helped and left with kindness. Would stay here again and again for sure!

My stay at Green Elephant Hostel couldn’t have been better. The staff was always really nice! Although some of the rooms are quite small, the bed and pillow are super comfy, making you fall asleep faster than expected
