CASA PURA VIDA SURF HOSTEL

- Terrible staying. The bed was very small and extremely uncomfortable. The pool was filthy, with plastic bottles floating in it. The room was full of insects, including a huge cockroach and tons of ants - I had tons if them on my bed and pillow. The Wi-Fi was very poor and only worked occasionally. The bathroom floor was in very bad condition, which just added to the overall disgusting feeling. There was no water from the afternoon until night. Even if this was an area-wide issue, there were no basic solutions offered (like water containers to manually flush). Also, they probably have no backup water tanks as my friends that stayed in other nearby hostels mentioned they had water. I was supposed to stay for three nights but left after just one because it was unbearable. To make things worse, after checkout, while sitting in the shared area and quietly reading a book, the owner reached out to me and asked me to leave the hostel area as guests aren’t allowed to stay after 13:00 when doing check out. So be prepared that if you have a late shuttle you will be forced to wait in the street. Absolutely terrible experience. Avoid at all costs.

- Al hacer la reserva, no se me indicó que ocupaba dar nombre de personas adicionales a mi para poder ingresar con acompañantes al hostel, se le negó la entrada a personas que fueron conmigo y debido a eso decidí tomar mis cosas y salir en la madrugada de la estancia del hostel.

- היה חם ברמות קשות והמזגן לא עבד היו נמלים בכל מקום הצוות לא היה נחמד היה כלכך גרוע לרמה שפשוט הלכתי משם לא יכולתי להישאר שם עוד דקה והחלטתי לוותר על הכסף ופשוט ללכת

+ Had a great time! Everything was very clean, including toilets. Kitchen had an ice machine. Staff was friendly. Common areas were great, good to make friends.

- The Ac cannot be turned off or controlled

+ Comfortable bed, very clean room and bathrooms, perfect location, wonderful staff, really well equipped kitchen 👌

+ Everyone working at the hostel was great and so helpful. You have everything you need for cooking and eating. And we were so lucky during our stay that we met such great people from all over the world. Pura Vidaaaa!

+ Great location, nice kitchen facilities, pool is such a bonus. They are strict about quiet time which is helpful to be able to get a good nights sleep. Definitely glad I stayed in the 4 person dorm though, a/c throughout the night and I'm always cold so they gave me a blanket. They were helpful with planning a shuttle to La Fortuna and also the surf lessons were great (cash only).

- I think only 4 bathrooms / showers so you might have to wait but generally I didn't have any issues. Also no lockers so bring a lock for your bag if you have lots of cash and valuables.
