La Tribu Boutique Hostel for Women

I got lots of small really, itchy (not mosquito) bites while staying here.... after washing my clothes and moving to a different hostel I didn't get anymore bites...

Disappointing. Rude staff (not all). Mouldy room. Bed bug outbreak was handled so badly. Prior to my stay some guests had bites and told staff but it was ignored and new guests were moved in. On my second night I found multiple bites and bed begs on my bed, so I left next day but more guests moved into my dorm. I heard that they eventually closed the hostel for a few days to properly exterminate, but that should have happened from the start. Now their customer service won’t reply for a refund...

Definitiv kein Boutique Hostel und kein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Das private 3-Bettzimmer ist sehr klein und ehrlicherweise viel zu eng für 3 Personen. Nichtmal 3 Koffer, oder große Rucksäcke passen rein, wenn man sich zumindest noch darin bewegen will. Optisch gleicht es einer Gefängniszelle wie man sie sich vorstellt. Das Bad wird mit 2 weiteren 3-Bettzimmern geteilt. Die Dusche hat in 5 Tagen kein einziges Mal warmes Wasser gehabt. Das WLAN ging fast nie und wenn, dann nur langsa...

The beds are truly terrible. I have photos showing that they are completely sagging, and you can feel the springs poking into your back. The air conditioning is on full blast, and you don't have the chance to turn it off. You're provided with only a thin sheet to lie under; it's extremely cold. Everyone is coughing because of the dry air the air conditioning spreads. I find it very unfriendly towards women.

This is an unfortunate review to write given almost all other reviews were glowing. This hostel did not live up to the hype. Yes, is is well curated and aesthetically pleasing, but the staff and cleanliness for the place was easily the worst experience I’ve had at any hostel I’ve stayed at. Staff were not friendly, and it felt as though you annoyed them if you asked a question. I wiped up many messes that were not mine, unfortunately people would leave good out overnight. The Hostel was very nice overall, the beds were clean and some of the volunteers were very sweet and helpful. However the toilets were not always the cleanest, often feces were left floating in the water and the showers were lacking storage space. The bathrooms in general felt very cheaply made. The night shift receptionist was very rude, she would come and tell you to shut up in a very rude tone if you were to even make a peep after 10pm. BEDBUG outbreak which they tried to keep under wraps.

I was so excited to stay here but it’s not really worth the price. The best part is obviously there’s no men, it’s comfy and safe, but it’s about 2-3 times the price of other hostels in the area. I was super excited for spa night but it only involved watching a movie and having access to 2 colours of dried nail polish and a face mask that I later found out has face whitening bleach in it :( It wasn’t great for socializing, and the receptionist scammed me selling an overpriced bus ticke...

This place is cute but extremely loud. When I arrived I very quickly realized that this hostel had way more people than I felt comfortable staying around and there were no places for me to do my work other than the main lounge. I left the same day I arrived to find a smaller place where I could have more space & shelves for my things and feel safer having my guitar. Although I didn’t once sleep in the bed, I was denied a refund.

Het personeel is niet vriendelijk en dat maakt de hele sfeer niet fijn. Het hostel zelf is heel klein en had voor het geld er meer van verwacht. Het is wel heel schoon

Endroit parfait pour rencontrer des gens ! Les activités et toutes les infrastructures sont vraiment top ! Juste la propreté était pas top

I was scared because of the previous bed bugs in the reviews, however the matresses were all brand new and looked super clean. Wifi was absolutely amazing and super fast! Showers were hot! Kitchen was super nice and clean. The activities were not participated by a lot of people, however it was easy to meet people in the dorms and social areas. Would definitely recommend to stay!!

Loved the hostel. Very nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff! The rooms were great spacious and the beds have curtains. Kitchen was well stocked and common area was nice. There were bikes for rent and activities organized by the hostel. Easy walk to the beach but in a quieter street.

Really enjoyed my stay! Evening activities were so much fun and social. Great location and amazing kitchen conditions. En suite could be cleaner but with 8 girls I understand that’s a task

Really enjoyed our stay here! Met some lovely girls and it’s such a great location and facilities are fab. Would be good to know what all the volunteers do as it made it feel quite cliquey as they’d just sit together and not socialise with guests?

Pros: very friendly and helpful staff, nice to just be around women, daily activities for free and daily yoga for 5$ Cons: main showers were flooded (2-3cm) in the evening

Relaxed but sociable atmosphere with daily activities. Great kitchen and communal area to chill out in. Also really clean + nice getting ready area. Can also borrow bikes from the hostel which is great for getting around the town

The hostel has the perfect location for just a few days in Puerto Viejo, kitchen and meeting area are nice and staff was friendly. Only negative point: Toilets were disgusting

I Only stayed for my last two nights in Puerto Viejo but I had the most amazing time. The Hostel feels like a home and I can definetly suggest it for everyone who is looking for a calmer vibe and cleaner surroundings. They had a beauty station with lighted mirrors, straightening irons and blow dryers. I didn’t even realise how much I missed getting ready like that. It was amazing!! The Team is also extremely nice and I can definitely recommend coming here! :))

Hatte eine tolle Zeit im Hostel. Toller Aufenhaltsbereich und Küche. Die Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber okay. Es gibt Vorhänge was mega ist. Lage ist tip top. Personal war nett.

This hostel was really outstanding. The volonteers were absolutely amazing and there were organized activities each day. Even though the jacuzzi area was small you get access to a big pool at a nearby hostel.

I enjoyed my stay at La Tribu Boutique Hostel for Women. I enjoyed meeting women from all over the world. The common area is very nice and the kitchen is fabulous!!! The hostel is very clean. The lockers and storage of luggage in dorm room should be bigger. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel.

My booking was cancelled by the hostel on the same day, just a few hours before arrival. I was only informed by email and found out when I arrived. What made the situation worse was the staff’s attitude: no apology, no empathy, and a very unfriendly response. Mistakes can happen, but the way this was handled was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this hostel, especially if you rely on confirmed bookings.
