Brilliant, just far more expensive than advertised

We arrived in the hostel after not having recieved an answer to our questions beforehand for a few days. No one was at the hostel and we had to contact one of the officers of the nearby police station to call our host Carlos. Carlos was super nice to us but did not speak English at all, which made communication for us difficult. We had to pay all the tours we did and the food up front and the food was not a good value and the breakfast was disappointing.

Hostel is almost direct at the Amazon River. Aide was at first really nice and helpful, but we got the feeling, he really wanted to sell us a tour. After the tour, he was not helpful anymore and communicating was hard. He said, he will organise a boat, to pick us up, but he didn’t. We had to do it on our own, which cost us almost a day. So when you go, reserve a boat back before you go. Other then that, the hostel is nice and the food is good.

It’s necessary to speak proper spanish, otherwise the communication with the owner is quite hard and leads to lots of complications. The tours the hostel offers are short trips for quite a lot of money. We paid 45 € p.P. For two hours of hiking in the jungle, which should have been a daytrip. Wifi is only available, if the owner is around and activates it. The landscape is really beautiful!

If you like to be organized and have plans for tours and stuff, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, I’m not the type to plan too much ahead, so I found myself feeling a bit stuck there, not being able to do much, because the prices of the tours where really out of reach for me, and seemed almost required…

Carlos and his wife were lovely! I felt very comfortable with them as it was only another girl and I in the hostel during our stay. I also did three tours with Carlos and he was always flexible and answered all of our questions. If you speak Spanish it honestly feels like your hanging out with an old friend while you get to learn and see some new things.

Sehr ruhige, liebevoll gestaltete Unterkunft direkt am Fluss Amazonas. Nette Menschen, leckeres Essen. Viel Natur. Super schön, um von dort aus Touren zu machen (150-350.000 COP). Danke Hotel Buho für die schöne Zeit!

I sincerely would come again to this hostel! Everything was nice, you can see stunning sunsets in front of the hostel. Hosts were so special and very attentive. I recommend this one when meeting the jungle for first time since they guide you with every activity you may want in the jungle and river

Amazing place to stay! Completely remote but so peaceful and beautiful. Carlos was an incredible host and guide, he made the whole experience incredible and truly once in a lifetime. We all agreed the tours and the hostal was the best we'd stayed in during our travels! Assuming you like a bit of adventure and being in touch with nature I could not recommend enough!

I loved the place, very quiet, wonderful to rest, I really enjoyed my stay, without a doubt, highly recommended, the owners and their workers were very attentive.

The Buho Amazonas hostel is wonderful. The hosts are very friendly and attentive. The place is very well located near the banks of the Amazon River, fantastic for relaxing. The place is super quiet, and they also offer tours and adventures in the jungle.

We had an amazing time in the amazonas, thanks to the amazing 3 day Tour that Ajer and Carlos organized for us! Carlos our Tour Guide is such an amazing Person! Very friendly, Kind and funny and he has Lots of Knowledge about the amazonas. We always felt comfortable spending time with him in the amazonas! We could learn a lot from him and we had Lots of fun with him, thanks to his kindness! Thanks for everything! 10|10 experience! The food was also amazing, as well as sleeping in the Dschungel

We had an amazing stay at Búho due to the fantastic location and the friendly and attentive care of Carlos and his wife. Not only is the hostal beautiful and very clean but also Carlos was a great guide on the tours we made. Surely I can highly recommend to stay here.

I'd absolutely recommend Buho!! It's a lovely hostel surrounded by nature and close to the Santa Sofia community. I did 3 tours whilst I was there, all of which were incredible. The guides and staff are all local people with a lot of knowledge of nature and the community, as well as being really friendly and welcoming. The food's delicious & locally sourced. It's the perfect opportunity to disconnect from life and be in nature, I had a very special time there and hope to return in the future!

Mi estancia en el hostel fue una experiencia única. El lugar está rodeado por la selva amazónica y es tranquilo y hermoso, perfecto para disfrutar de la naturaleza. En el hostel se adaptan mucho a las necesidades de cada huésped y se pueden reservar muchas actividades diferentes. Un agradecimiento especial a Aider y sobre todo a Carlos, quien me mostró y explicó tanto sobre la vida en el Amazonas. Me sentí muy a gusto y espero poder volver algún día. Una experiencia inolvidable!

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt!! Man reist mit dem Boot über den Amazonas an und ist dann mitten im Regenwald zusammen mit der Community Santa Sofia. Von hier aus kann man tolle Touren mit dem super lieben Guide Carlos machen. Die Köchin und der Leiter Aider sind auch super freundlich.

Een geweldige plek om de Amazone te verkennen. Ik heb gekajakt, in een hangmat in de jungle geslapen, een inheemse gemeenschap bezocht, roze dolfijnen gespot. Carlos was telkens de perfecte gids! Elke dag stond er lekker eten op tafel!

Wir hatten eine super Zeit:) die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich, es gibt leckeres Essen, die Lage ist perfekt zum runterkommen. Vor Ort konnten wir Jungletouren zu einem guten Preis buchen und der Guide war sehr cool.

Lovely experience at Hostel Buho! Aider and Brenda were very kind hosts. The hostel is a quiet oasis for disconnecting from the world and enjoying nature and the company of locals. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway in the Amazon, this is probably your place. I was the only guest during my two-night stay. I did two great tours! To stay here, you must be okay with being alone and entertaining yourself! No wifi or signal, and the hosts do their own thing day to day. Overall, lovely solo sta...
