- I was confirmed in single room with shared bathroom in booking.com. Instead when I got there I was told the room is not available and was given dorm bed. He didn’t even bother to apologise. I checked out after two nights stay.
+ First time stay was good. Second time owner screwed us.
+ Out of town.
- No kitchen facilities to heat water. Or heat up food brought from outside Long walk 30 minutes from center
+ Area and cleanliness
- Location of the rooms… limited connectivity with market … no food options … no ventilation in rooms
+ The place is a really cozy. It is a small Guesthouse where the owner lives groudfloor and the whole 1st floor is the guesthouse. 2 rooms are for bunkbeds and 3 rooms are couple/family rooms. We stayed in big family room with 2 double beds available. The room was really big with attached toilet. We also stayed 1 night in Bunk beds where we had to use the toilet outside. The owner and his wife is really friendly. They can help you with your permit. We also rented a bike for 3 days with the help of the owner. The food was also great cooked by Mr. Raju. Anything you need, Raju is the guy you need to reach our. Really nice guy and helps with everything you need. The Shanti Stupa is near from the property. The overall experience was great.
- The property is far from the Main Market (Main Mall road) or Bus Stand. As it is situated in high elevation if you are planning to walk from the Bus stand or Mall road it will be tough. You must use taxi or rented bike/car to reach there. Taxi is also not cheap there. At least 300-400 RS from bus stand one way. If you have your own transportation then it is a plus. Expect few hundred bucks more when you rent bike or book permit with the help of the property. It is obvious as they are providing you a service and taking service charge is not illegal.
+ L hospitalité et le calme des lieux
- Rien
+ Good place, very close to the market. The Shanti Stupa is visible from here.
- Very few people had booked the place, it seemed empty. Only one care taker. The owners should consider reducing the price of basic snacks for the guests.
+ L'ambiance calme. La fraîcheur de la cœur près du ruisseau, La décoration soignée de la véranda -salon et de la salle à manger. La disponibilité de notre hôte, ( qui propose des "tours" si besoin)
- Il manque un espace jardin.
+ The owner of the Karma Lodge was so extremely friendly and caring. We needed to adjust to the altitude and he made us lunch which was high in energy (Ladakhi pasta) which was delicious. In the evening he also took care of us. Asking us how we feel according to the altitude issues and made dinner for us and served is camomile tea. We needed to call him if symptoms got worse and said that he would bring us to a doctor or hospital if necessary. Which wasn’t the case fortunately! He gave us tips where to go and arranged a motorbike for is, because we wanted to explore everything by bike. Very helpfull
- The accomodation might not be for everyone. We were there in March. Which is early, before the season and very cold (-15 degrees) when the sun is gone. Therefore there is no running water and a separate system to warm up a big bucket of water which you can use to shower Indian way. We enjoyed it, but also we needed to adjust. The owner is working very hard to upgrade the Lodge. I think, when it is finished, you won’t regret to book your stay there!
+ Clean rooms, beautiful view. We had a comfortable and cosy stay

+ The owner was extremely friendly and very accomodating, he prepares this homemade ladakhi pasta (a bit similar to our rajasthani dal dhokli) and it was yum.. he also helped us w Cab booking to and fro from airport and in bike renting too.
- We went during peak winters so in ladakh the water pipes freeze everywhere and you have to use it from drums (quite the local experience if you ask me)
+ It’s close to Shanti Stupa temple
- I wish they had provided the towel and rubbish bin

+ Host was unbelievably accomodating, went out of his way multiple times to help us with early check-in / lifts into town. Even drove us into town when taxi’s were unavailable. Great value for money for the accomodation you get. Bit far from city centre but a very quiet spot, good for anyone doing the Rickshaw Run, located just near the vehicle storage.

+ Everything was really great. Clean, neat, cozy, quiet and serene. Nestled in a residential/guesthouse neighbourhood in the hills overlooking Leh, the views of the Himalayas are breathtaking, and the rustic charm of the place is the perfect compliment to the overall ambience of the property. BUT, the very best part of the stay was the owner, Dorje, who went out of his way every moment of the stay to ensure that I had everything that I wanted or needed to be comfortable. Truly, I'll never stay anyplace else when I'm in Leh!
- NA. Liked everything!

+ I spent a week at Karma Lodge in February, a challenging but rewarding month to be in Ladakh, with almost no other tourists around. At high altitude and such low temperatures you need a trustworthy and conscientious host, and there couldn't be a better person for it than Tsewang. He made sure I was comfortable and kept occupied throughout my stay, with four affordable day trips in the vicinity of Leh. His driver Dorje was professional and considerate, and stayed safe on snowy mountain roads. We were even lucky enough to see wolves and a lynx near Wari La Pass. The room itself was both spacious and homey, a nice retreat when the cold nights rolled in. The meals prepared by Tsewang and his wife were filling and tasty, and often came with interesting discussions on history and culture. Overall it was a great experience, and I look forward to returning soon. Many thanks!
