There were sawing noises in the early morning. The grounds are not well kept, dirt, mud, and cars were parked everywhere on the grass. staff was pretty rude. For example some guys in a truck backed up to the dining area spewing exaust in my face, and then one of the workers from the truck that were grabbing chairs and pkates proceeded to grab my backpack off the chair it was hanging on without asking permission! People constantly leaving dirty pots in the kitchen. It's not kept clean.

not a very social hostel. kinda expensive for what you get compared to other hostels..

Well, the hostel is in my opinion not something for coming back again. The private room had a moldy stench. You cant get rid of it. But many places made of wood (in Mindo) have the same problem. The Location is OK, not in the center, but directly at a nice creek. Kitchen equipment is OK not the best though. The owner wants to charge for potable water for the guests. This is a clear no go. That should be included like elsewhere. Payment was complicated with a credit card. Room was clean but ...

loved the location set in the trees woke up to look out a window at hummingbirds each morning. lots of bugs that bit in the area unfortunately

I sadly felt a little underwhelmed by my stay at la Casa de Cecilia. I think they could do more to promote activities in the area and support you to pursue them. The hostel wasn’t social but it was in a very peaceful area surrounded by nature and the sound of the flowing river nearby. Breakfast was okay but not included in the price. The rooms are not soundproof and mine felt quite cramped, especially the tiny bathroom.

Good hostel, central location | kind and pleasant staff | clean, functional kitchen | solid WiFi | hot shower, towel, soap provided | located on a small river, wonderful "white noise" when it is time for bed | good stay, very restful | thank you

Nice hostel near the main square. loved the hammock area (once I found it!). Private room was very comfortable though very hot! Basically no atmosphere while I was there, but the hostel was pretty empty. Nice common area and very basic kitchen, but no organised activities etc and there wasn't much of a social feel. That said it was a very relaxing stay.

Loved this hostel - such a great laidback vibe. The hostel is on a stream which is really nice and the rooms are very homely and comfy. Lots of places to relax. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Mindo!

Tolle Unterkunft für Vogelfreunde! jedoch sollte man kein Problem mit offenen Bereichen (v.a. Küche und Essbereich) und Flussgeräuschen haben. Die Küche ist mit den nötigsten Dingen ausgestattet. Die Inhaber waren sehr bemüht und wir hatten eine tolle Tour zum Birdwatchers House. Lediglich die Dusche und das Bad generell war super klein und es gab keine Spinde für Wertsachen. Die Betten waren z.T. groß und gemütlich. In vielen Bereichen sollen Schuhe ausgezogen werden.

sehr schönes Hostel und Ort in dem auch viele interessante Ausflüge angeboten werden. Habe mich dort wohl und sicher gefühlt.

Amazing place to stay in Mindo, they have all the connections with outdoor activities, and you absolutely have to do the chocolate tour at the chocolate factory around the corner ! All the equipment was satisfying and very clean.

Really good hostel! A relaxing less social hostel to recharge. Super clean. Staff are always dusting. For being in a forest, with tons of critters outside, you’ll never see any in your hostel bc of their cleanliness. (Max saw 2 small spiders) Breakfast isn’t a lot of food for the money. Minimal reception, but staff are very kind. Only negative is leaving your shoes outside at night. Its for cleanliness, but no security if someone wanted to steal your nice hiking boots. Would return again!

We really liked the hostel but there are few things we would like to point out: - tiny kitchen for guests (3 or more guests at the same time do not have a chance to prepare something) - breakfast is not included in the price (it costs $5 and is the same every day) - morning coffee is only for guests who pay $5 - drinking water can be poured for a fee of $0.50, wouldn’t it be possible to buy a common filter? Otherwise, our stay was very pleasant. Thanks 🤍

Superbe hostel, accueil chaleureux, à côté de la riviere, tres calme

Sehr schön ist die Lage direkt am Fluss, Dorm ist gross, Betten bequem und Mitarbeiter:innen super freundlich. Das einzige, was mir gefehlt hatte, war ein Platz zum Trocknen von Kleidung nach Regenguss.

Such a beautiful place to stay. Though located in the heart of Mindo, it’s calm, it’s quiet, all you hear is the sound of the river and birds flying around. I absolutely loved staying here for the 3 nights and would have stayed longer if possible. The bed was very comfortable, the room spacious and clean, such as the bathroom as well. Staff is really friendly and helpful, I did the bird watching tour they’ve recommended and it was great!

I had a wonderful stay here! Very quiet and peaceful area with beautiful views! A great and cheap breakfast available. Very close to town but far enough away to have peace. Lovely area with hammocks and access to the river. I can highly recommended this place. I stayed for 5 nights and really enjoyed my time here

Très agréable, un petit paradis, avec un bon petit déjeuner et de nombreuses activités proposées.

It felt like a pretty safe area, but I was a bit surprised that, with the hostel open to the outside, the dorms were left unlocked, and there are no storage lockers. I didn't talk to people besides those in the dorm. I loved the hostel grounds surrounded by green, with a nice outdoor eating area facing active hummingbird feeders and a stream you can easily walk down to and enjoy. The staff will help you book activities or a ride without upcharge. Shower was nice and warm!

I really enjoyed my stay here. I wanted something, quiet, peaceful and solitary. One falls asleep hearing the sound of river and wakes up with the birds singing. The whole place seems like from a fairytale. Everybody was super nice.

Stayed in a private room with a wonderful balcony. Clean, safe. Feels more like a hotel than a hostel. Breakfast for $4 was nice, great to be right next to El Quetzal/Mindo Chocolate as well. Would highly recommend booking tours with the front desk, they did a wonderful job coordinating. Highly recommend.

Ein sehr schönes Hostel in Mindo, direkt am Fluss. Toller Service für Aktivitäten. Saubere und gemütliche Zimmer aus Holz. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Perfect little stay in mindo, breakfast over the river is very tranquillo and it’s easy to organize tours through the front desk. Everything is very reasonably priced and the rooms and beds were great. I would definitely recommend it, especially how gorgeous the river was running along the property.
