literally dying from the dust mites, couldn't sleep here half of my days booked. no refund

This is a place for greedy mercenaries who have no ethics nor morals and will do anything for money. Flights kept getting cancelled due to the hurricane Francine, reason why I couldn’t fly to New Orleans. When I called them to ask about these extraordinary circumstances, they said “rain or shine, we don’t do refunds”. I’m disappointed but not surprised at all with this behavior in the US.

Had my stay ruined by an aggressive staff member. Vincent had a penchant for following people around the kitchen and aggressively reminding them to clean up (before they had even finished cooking) he there's a kitchen knife across the counter at me out of anger. Dude is seriously unhinged and then reported me the next day cos I stood up to him. Shame cos it ruined a great stay and means I won't return.

Ok…it’s a hostel. They screwed up my reservation, charged me $79 when HW lists it for $34. Lots of old folks, too many drunks coming in at 4 or 5 am; they let local workers stay here 👎 and they didn’t mention the awesome restaurant, you can access from the lobby. Slowest elevator I ever saw. $330 for 6 nights is not a good deal. Quisby is way better. Happy travels! 😎

Cold showers. Gross breakfast. Overpriced.

Ive got skin rash / scabies after my stay. It ruined my nights, I can’t sleep, still treating it, I had to cancel work to go to doctors and doctors said I got it from the hostel. I work for myself, so huge monetary losses

This hostel had set a very high bar on my previous visit in 2023. However, this stay the experience was less than optimal. The coolint in the rooms was inadequate and it did not make for a comfortable nights sleep. A number of washrooms on the 3rd floor were put of service, those that were operable were not clean and not stocked with fresh bath mats. A bigger letdown was the fact that they had stopped breakfast service. Hopefully, things improve because this is a great place to stay in the city.

The location and facilities at HI NOLA were adequate but I had a terrible experience with the staff. My travel plans were disrupted by winter storm Enzo, I asked the staff to hold my booking as I would be arriving 2 days late. Staff member Jahnquil tried to charge me for a no show and modify my booking to charge me double my original rate. I had to argue with her on the phone and in-person upon arrival. Finally, the next day staff member Clayton rectified this issue. Not worth the hassle.

Good hostel overall. The hospitality can get so much better. When I first arrived NOLA I was kindly asking the WiFi password from a reception named Hannah. She didn’t even bother to answer with words just point me the paper on the glass with an unfriendly face. Not the best hostel experience tbh.

Très bonne expérience en nouvelle orlean !! Hôtel très propre et très calme, grande cuisine avec frigo et beaucoup d'équipements. Douches privatives agréables mais on se retrouve parfois à devoir attendre car peu de places... casiers très pratiques, on peut les ouvrir et fermer avec la carte d'hôtel. Excellent emplacement.

Made for a great first time staying at a hostel. Nice and clean, conveniently located, and provisions were very considerate.

Great hostel. Secure lockers, close to transport. Cozy beds with privacy curtains. Showers have good pressure, have supplied shampoo/body wash. (And there are lots of toilet/shower rooms). Staff are helpful and at work constantly. Laundry facilities (with detergent) available. Please open more hostels in the US!

Hostel was great, only bad thing was the people in my dorm as they had no hostel etiquette at all. However this is not the hostels fault. If ever in New Orleans again then I would definitely stay here!

The hostel was fine for us, 2 adults and 2 tween/teen. The bed was probably the worst as it seemed the bottom base was broken and every time we sat on it, it was an awful noise. The bunks were fine other than the ladder wasn’t the best being metal. The majority of staff was pleasant. The teen loved the pool table, and the kitchen had everything you needed. Location was good an we walked everywhere

One of the top 2 hostels in the US. Definitely the most top tier hostel I've experienced in any city any where in the world. ('Cuz otherwise the best is on a farm on an island in Nicaragua. Aesthetic and community spaces above and beyond any other hostel in the US.

Great prices, location and atmosphere. Comfy beds, clean showers, appreciated the lockers in the dorms and the communal kitchen. Friendly staff. The doors (stairway, dorm entry, bathroom) are pretty loud when they close, it would be nice if they could soundproof them better. Bathrooms were pretty clean for the most part, but they could use more shelving to put a toiletries bag, clothing, etc.

Overall I had a good experience. I was very comfortable and the location is fantastic. I appreciated the filtered water but the morning coffee wasn’t great. I like some dairy with coffee and that would be nice. I’m used to hostels having at least a basic simple breakfast.

Great location. Right in the middle of the city. Not too far from bus/train station. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful. Met some ìnteresting people and had some good conversations. I felt safe and comfortable as a woman traveling alone. Overall a pleasant experience.

It was the best hostel I’ve been so far at all. You use your key card for the lockers so you don’t even need a lock. There are plugs inside of the locker as well as next to the bed. The restrooms are clean and there are a lot of them with the shower included. The kitchen is big and modern and the wifi works really well! Would definitely recommend!!

Only there for one night, but all in all, perfectly satisfied. I did get a private room, and it felt like a hotel room. Sparse, but clean and very comfortable bed. My only gripe is traffic and streetcars were a little loud and the curtain doesn't block all the light, but my Bluetooth eye pillow helped. Didn't use the kitchen. Staff was nice. Convenient location—yes, it's a little sketchy, but that's any American city. Never felt unsafe though. Would stay again.

People need to clean up after themselves, in the bathrooms. Flush the toilets before leaving. Put your towels in the bucket. Staff needs to check shampoo and soap containers that were totally empty in the shower area. My overall experience was great with the staff and place. They were very helpful and friendly.

I had an amazing stay at the Hostel. It’s located very central and you can walk basically everywhere. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the rooms and bathrooms were clean. I would definitely come back and recommend staying at this Hostel a lot!!

The hostel has all the amenities you want and expect from a Hostel International facility. Unique to the facility is that they use a single tap card for entering the building and assigned locker in your room. The electrical outlet in your bed is in a recessed space above and behind your head so you can put your stuff in there so it doesn't take up bed space. Bathrooms are individual toilet, sink and shower units so you can have full privacy. Laundry machines dont seem to wash very well.

Very nice establishment. Rather quiet, closer to a hotel vibe. Great location, staff is helpful, I felt very safe there as a single woman.

very rude staff! impatience &irritability are out of place in New Orleans: stay somewhere with character. HI has a cold & clinical atmosphere. *disgusting* coffee. kitchen counters &sinks are VERY low. industrial detergent &sanitiser system is ridiculous &results in ppl simply rinsing their plates with hot water. the beds are comfortable &sturdy, though the dorm curtains are very loud. there are many bathrooms with showers, so it’s unlikely you have to wait long. consistent housekeeping.

Maybe the nicest hostel I've ever stayed at! Very clean; single-occupancy bathrooms; bunks with plenty of outlets and even outlets in the lockers. Highly recommend!

Loved staying here. Nicest hostel I've ever stayed at. Clean. The private bathrooms were great. Love that I didn't need a lock for the lockers.

I really enjoyed myself at the Hostel,the location is perfect and I really enjoyed the hospitality of the staff . Upon my arrival I was very impressed with the help I received in navigating the area . A woman assisted me and she was Lovely! My experience was seamless and I will be returning
