I didn’t get to stay one night there because of my medical condition. I keep waiting them to discuss about the refund or discount of $20. Talked to VASITY and Brittaney. They all said they need to ask manager…so idk why disabled people got to treated badly when they the one need the help the most…sad world rule
Will not be staying at this hostel again. Where to begin. I guess maybe the rats in the kitchen? I mean they are cute and all, but rats a called vermin for a reason. And these were getting into the guests dry food. The showers suck. Takes forever to get warm water. And low flow. They offer no paper towels for drying hands just a hand blower which spreads water AND germs everywhere. Then there are dormmates who don’t understand even basic etiquette like not turning on the room lights at 1 am.
This was an OK place to stay. The breakfast was so bad, it was insulting. There are some staff members who are confrontational and unpleasant to customers. The room was poorly set up, with a tiny fan that couldn't be plugged in anywhere near the bed. The room was old and faded.
Avoid this place, male staff was fake and passive aggressive, some little guy w a beard was super angry and insecure. Rooms were uncomfortable, the overhead lights were extremely bright and wake you up in the middle of the night. Crowded and noisy. Messy. Their "free breakfast" is one bagel and a cup of coffee. 👎 Go to Lolo Pass hostel instead, way cooler.
The room was uncomfortably cold, and the manager refused to fix the problem, instead blaming me for a window that was opened while I was sleeping. I left with a head cold. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone — heating should never be set at 63°F when outdoor temperatures are below 30°F. Especially during the cold as a result of Winter Storm Fern.
With all the extra add ons I could have stayed at a nice hotel. Hostelworld charged $25 deposit which did not bring our Hostel bill down. I won’t be using HW again. Book directly with Portland Hostel.
This was first time ever trying staying in a hostel. Sheets and comforter weren’t changed and smelled bad. Bed is like sleeping on spring and bathrooms were the worst as they smelled horribly and were kinda dirty. Never staying in a hostel again!
Next time, don't allow people to book here if your front desk closes before they arrive. The option on the website allowed after hours check in, which I chose (since I knew I'd be arriving fairly late) and then didn't allow me to check in. I tried calling multiple times as my flight was late, no response. Waste of money and time.
Unfortunately the heat was out for our entire stay, we were given a small space heater that didn’t really heat out room. There was a man screaming out the front of our room the entire 4 nights we were there and also dedicating at our front window every day we were there. While the staff were very kind and the building was beautiful unfortunately the outside circumstances along with the frigid room did not make this our most pleasant stay.
Overall place was nice, beds were not the nicest I have encountered. Got stuck in a room with a guy who snored louder than a volcano erupting into a megaphone. The nighttime guy got us hooked up with a new room and was super nice to us.

I only stayed for a night but was very happy with the service. I didn’t get to the hostel to get a room until 12:30 AM but the late night guy definitely helped out. Checked me in and slept in one of the beds and was quite comfortable and was quiet too. When I came in the first time to store my luggage the lady at the front desk told me about everything there’s to do in downtown. Very knowledgeable would highly recommend
I love this place. It really feels like a home away from home. Great common areas, social events, tons of places to hang out, good kitchen, friendly staff, and the cafe/restaurant has excellent food and drinks. I would come back in a heart beat!
Fantastic place to stay

Fantastic Location
What a great place, highly recommended
Why was the Portland Northwest voted number 3, the best hostel that I have ever been to.
Nice place to stay. Usually I have a great time staying here. Unfortunately I got stuck with two guys who were douche bags. Not social, narcissistic. Making noise late at night, early in the morning, snoring, shining thier phone lights into my face while I’m trying to sleep. People who don’t hostel much imo. Wish I could rate other hostlers
Lovely room in a charming house, wonderful facilities, terrific food in the cafe, absolutely stellar staff and a great location. All in all, it doesn’t get any better.
Phenomenal stay! Will definitely be back! Salem and Bernadette at the front desk were so beyond kind at every interaction!!! Thank you both!!
Loved this place. Well everything but the ripsaw sleeping below me. 😅 I was really comfortable, the cafe was nice, and when I arrived they had 2 members of the Portland Orchestra playing in the commons area. And just a block away is a Vietnamese restaurant called Fish Sauce. Definitely go there.
This hostel was absolutely perfect! The staff were all so kind and knowledgeable, and the entire hostel was extremely clean.
Stayed here on two separate occasions. Love this place!
The only worthwhile hostel in Oregon.
This place is awesome! The owner and staff are so lovely. I felt very taken care of. I highly recommend this place. Even go as a local. They have an amazing cafe and their open mic night is so fun and welcoming. I love this place and would love to stay again!!

What a great hostel. Very clean and convenient. Awesome staff!!
Great location and atmosphere highly recommended.
One of the nicest most beautiful hostels I've ever stayed at. It is street parking, expensive and kind of a pain. I would have planned for that if Id thought about it. But lovely hostel.
I like this hostel a lot it’s super chill and laid back it’s cozy for a mixed dorm too i like the curtains on the beds it gives you good privacy and blocks out light and stuff. One of the showers in the women’s was a bit cold then got warm at first but it was still a shower so i can’t complain and also the one next to it gets hot anyways so yeah but also i love the people here they are all always so nice and sociable
