From the beginning, the stay at Casa Angel felt like a rip off. The pictures for the rooms suggest that the 4 bed dorms have enclosed bathrooms. That is not the case. They only accept visa payments from 3000 Pesos upwards, so most people will have to pay cash. The mattresses are completely worn out. And every night between 11 and 12 they turned off the electricity. They said it was an issue with the power grid, but it only affected the dorms and bathrooms. Polished surface, rotten core
The facilities were clean & location good, however it was the most uncomfortable hostel bed I’ve ever slept in. It felt like the mattress springs were stabbing me in the back all night and I could hear every toss and turn of my own and of others because of the bed springs. Staff were meh and vibes were also meh. Staff did not give a tour of hostel, show me to my room, nor tell me until the last minute that they essentially don’t accept card. Would not recommend or book again.
I stayed over duing the Day of The dead, so the price was definitely not cheap. Other than that, everything else was superb and I would highly recommend this hostel!
sorry to write that but unfortunately i have been beaten by bed bugs in this hostel. My legs have horrible marks now, and also i have found bed bug in my backpack after the stay. Theres no chance I could have get it any other place as this was my last hostel in Mexico, and i also spot marks on my legs after second night there, but was hoping its an allergy of chemicals they use to wash sheets. :( Besides that hostel is ok, staff is super helpful, rooftop is nice. my room was 1, bed 1.
I’m love this hostel. Sure I am back
so bad. they didnt clean the room in the 4 days I stayed there. They are "The best hostel of north america, but it was so terrible with service, amenities and access, I wont be using hostel world for a while. The kitchen was not able to be used while they serve the breakfast which was overpriced and bad food quality and service. They didnt let me even drink water while they were there. The rooftop has a "restaurant" but they dont have food available "because the chef is not coming today"
I was not gonna leave but got an email asking for it so here yo go. Dirty bathrooms, dirty smelly rooms. They could t care less, bedrooms with garbage over 4 days without moving. No AC on the bedroom. Loud traffic at night. They didnt care. Loud terrace, so loud you could hear from 2 blocks away. No welcoming atmosphere, they didnt include me on the welcome board or ask me anything about me. Bfast was so bad, I couldnt use the kitchen while they bfast was been served pushing me to buy it
I returned and stayed in both a dorm and a private room. The private room is not worth the money in comparison to what you’d get for some hotel rooms for a similar price nearby. There was no hot water, so I had to use the shared ones. To be worth the amount they currently charge, hot water should be there plus a smart TV and breakfast should be included The dorms are better value (although towel hooks are needed). It’s also cheeky that we pay for breakfast & are expected to wash our plates
Definitely not worth the money. The breakfast is not good and you have to wash your own dishes plus they don’t serve food until late at night so if you wake up after breakfast you have to find food, coffee, etc which isn’t ideal in the days heat. The bathrooms are clean and the staff is nice but everything else is sucky. Other hostels are better
Casa Angel is a great, chilled hostel. The staff, the breakfast, activities are awesome too. It’s near main attractions, el zocalo, art galleries, markets, bus station, restaurants, coffee shops. The bathrooms are clean, some with double showers. The sheets are clean, AC works well, big lockers. Yoga classes with Mirna are a treat in the morning. I stayed in a 4 all female shared room. The terrace has a bar and they play music every night until 11pm. You have the option to order food as well.

Clean and conveniently located. Very social hostel with a great rooftop.
Loved this hostel so much! I loved the activities run by the hostel (e.g. the street food tour and salsa class were a lot of fun) and the atmosphere was very social. Also very clean bathrooms. Thanks for a great stay!
imposible dormir, por el ruido y la luz. todo se paga en efectivo
The hostel was very clean, beds were immaculate and shared bathroom was cleaned often and a very nice bathroom. Only thing was the water wasn’t hot. There were fans in each room and individual fans for each bed. Check in is easy and can be done at anytime at night. Rooftop is good with a happy hour each night. Breakfast is good - yoghurts, breads, eggs, fruit. The hostel offers games in the evening and social activities in the day including walking tours and food tours. Would highly recommend.
Great hostel! Clean, fun, friendly and great value for money. The dorms are clean and the guests respectful. It is a very fun hostel so I had some reservations about whether I would be able to sleep but I never had an issue. Very friendly people to the point where you would have to make an effort not to meet anyone! 10/10 would go there again when I am in Oaxaca
Excellent place, with a nice rooftop for salsa lessons! The staff is super nice and welcoming, we loved our stay!
Very nice atmosphere! They offer lots of tours and activities. The rooms are not too big but it’s totally sufficient 😊 stuff really cares about the facilities; Salsa was fun; good breakfast
Great hostel best place to meet people highly recommend!
Clean and social!
Great hostel, super clean and comfortable, lovely rooftop. 20peso beers for happy hour! One of my favourite places I stayed on my Mexico trip.
Muy bonito, buena atmósfera con muchas actividades para viajeros solos y en grupos
Casa Angel is an excellent hostel to stay at! The facilities are great, with a spacious kitchen, comfortable common areas, and large, clean bathrooms. The rooftop bar is a great place to socialise, especially during happy hour - can't go wrong with 20 peso beers! There's also lots of free activities on every night, from salsa classes, games nights and cantina tours. Location is great, only a 15 minute walk into the city centre with plenty of restaurants even closer.
Great place! Super private beds in the 4 person dorms, felt like a private room when I closed the bed door!
I love the place! nice staff, cool activities (I win the trivia 🥃) warm environment, excelent location, maybe it need better cleaning service but overall a great place!
Great hostel. Super clean, good kitchen, comfy beds. Good social events. The only bad thing to say is the water wasn’t always hot in the shower but it was never ice cold. Would definitely recommend to anyone
Genial en todo sentido
Very Nice staff Delicious eggs for the breakfast ( not free but cheap) Near the main things to see and propose activities such as salsa class ( looked fun but I was too late for it ): ) Towel that needs to be rented Meh WIFI Shower that are sometimes cold sometimes mild very rarely hot Nice dorms Overall you should go if you are solo travelling!!
Rooftop bar is best feature. Lots of hosted activities, at least 1 per day. Bathrooms and beds are good. Breakfast is affordable and delish. tour at desk to Hieve el aqua 880 pecos plus 400 is extra fees was boring, run by outside agency, not worth $$, just do a collective on your own. I book those tours via hostel assuming it has been vetting for fun, active, young people focus, fail for Angel. Worst was the slow wifi, I consider this more important than running water. overall was good.
