Hostel Batzu

Ich verstehe ehrlich gesagt die ganzen guten Bewertungen nicht. Wir hatten ein Fünferzimmer was winzig war und nur durch eine Spanplatte vom Nebenraum getrennt, sodass es dementsprechend laut war. Die Bettwäsche roch muffig und der Kühlschrank war sogar außen verschimmelt. Hinzu kamen einige Katzen die auch in den Zimmern und in den Betten rumlagen. Nachts kamen ständig Leute in unser Zimmer und am nächsten Morgens waren alle Betten belegt obwohl eigentlich nur drei vergeben und bezogen w...

Place looked cute via photos. But in person lacked anything nice, other than the outside lounge. Private room was pretty dirty, bathroom was rugged, and overall very grungy vibes. No hot water in the bathroom. Great parking right out front! Wow. This place is LOUD. Motorcycles, loud cars, a live music place that could be heard all night, and a room right next to stairs. By far the worst place I’ve slept in Costa Rica.

Camas cómodas, bastante cerca del centro para ir caminando, también supermercados. Tiene una cocina pequeña, pero equipada.

It’s a really ‘back to basics’ hostel, if you like that you will like this place! The room is really small for the amount of beds and there is only 1 locker. The man is really friendly and wants help but because I don’t speak that much spanish he couldn’t help me that much. The only thing I don’t like is the fact that I still had to pay (what was no problem) but he tried to rip me off for 4000 colonnes and also the cat peed on a bag.

The owners were super friendly, withsome cute cats, the common area was a good social space. However,the rooms were tiny with little space and had 5 beds rather than 4 as advertised. one of the nights that we stayed we believe that a random man slept in our dorm room as he turned up late at night with nothing with him, slept on a bed with no sheets or pillow and then left early in the morning, didn't feel very safe as is completely open to the street. Also, had no clean sheets when we arrived.

Really good hostel if you want a chill stay. when i was there there were only couples, so not that easy to connect... but the hostel itself is great. only real negatif is that you can feel the coil springs in the matress pretty good.

Such a homely vibe and great social space at the front with hammocks. There is parking and a quiet yet central location. My private room was basic but comfortable. Areas of improvement would be bathroom cleanliness (I had to ask to get the bathroom cleaned as it hadn’t been cleaned) and upgrading the room decor and amenities as the room was very basic. The best thing were owners Oscar and Derek who are amazing and welcoming and I really enjoyed their company and coffee in the mornings.

This was a great, low key hostel. Close to town and fun activities such as ziplining and the sloth park. The owner, Oscar, was incredibly kind and helpful, and they have the cutest and most friendly cats.

Lovely host, cute, small place with cats and lots of birds around. Rooms didn’t have enough storage space and smelled bad and toilets weren’t cleaned often. Still, it was a nice stay.

We spent three nights and really enjoyed the atmosphere here, with Oscar being so kind and available. He gave us great recommendations about this to do in the area. The hostel was perfectly located for us, close to the center and many restaurants. The room was just finished when we stayed and lacked basic things that would make it more comprehensive for a stay or 3 or more nights.

Bela and Fabian are so great, we stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer! I can only recommend it and wish all the best to the bastzu for the future!

Excellent hostel, petit, accueillant. Oscar a rendu notre séjour incroyable en discutant et nous conseillant. Nous avons eu l’occasion de rencontrer Bella qui reprend l’hostel, gentille, bienveillante et motivé. L’hostel a un grand avenir devant lui. :)

Oscar und Derek sind super nett und hilfsbereit :) Top Lage und Betten sind bequem Alles bestens!

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour chez Oscar. Hostel très bien placé à proximité des supermarchés, bars,restaurants tout en étant dans un endroit calme. Oscar est très accueillant et pourras vous conseiller sur les activités au alentours. Merci encore

Oscar ist ein super better Host. Er hat mir jeden Morgen einen Kaffee gemacht und war immer super freundlich und froh seine Tipps mit mir zu teilen. Ein wirklich nettes Hostel in dem man alles hat was man braucht

El dueño Oscar es super amigable. Excelente por el precio però la limpieza podría ser poco mejor.

Oscar ist super lieb. Wir hatten tolle Gespräche, er hat viele hilfreiche Tipps zur Umgebung mitgeteilt. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt genossen und würden wiederkommen. Vielen Dank für alles!

Great location, and had everything we needed. The owner, Oscar, made the stay for us. He was friendly, attentive, and even made us empanadas! Very cold showers and not much English spoken but overall a great experience.

Oscar is an amazing host and his son is also a lovely person. In the common place, I could get to know nice people. There are 2 cats in the hostel, Coco is laid back and Patas is such a joy. You never get bored in this hostel if you are a cat lover. The mountain view from the 2nd floor is gorgeous when there is less cloud on the peak. I had a great time in La Fortuna thanks to Hostel Batzu!

I really enjoyed my stay at Hostel Batzu! Oscar and Derek were amazing hosts to me during my time there. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is visiting Fortuna to stay at this hostel.
