JJ's Hostel

Booked a private room, which was quite nice except for one major issue. The hostel takes the AC remote from your room and charges 8 USD per day if you want to use it. This detail was a bit hidden in the details of the booking and I feel the hostel needs to be more transparent about this at the time of booking.

Lonely planet said this was the best hostel in the South Coast - i'm not too sure about that, but it was decent! We just were not big fans of Mirissa in general. Staff were nice and helpful, the privates are really nice. Yoga and Pool and rooftop. Free breakfast (really good actually)

A nice hostel to relax by the pool. I had a room with a fan, which also had air conditioning but I wasn't given the remote as I didn't pay for an air conditioned room. It just seemed a bit tight, considering all the dorms had air conditioning and I paid more for a private. Good location, near some great cafes. The atmosphere was quiet, maybe due to everyone have made friends by the time they head south to Mirissa. They are under utilising the roof space.

No atmosphere, down a long dark road unsafe at night time, social host was young and didn’t know how to bring people together, staff were average and although fully booked no one around. Very odd place. Bed was comfy though but showers cold, and toilets never clean.

Het was een fijn hostel met alle voorzieningen die je nodig hebt. Er was alleen weinig sfeer en er werden geen activiteiten georganiseerd. De algemene ruimte werd ook bijna niet gebruikt.

AC hat leider nur den halben Raum belüftet. Vorhänge in den oberen Betten waren zu kurz, sodass man immer das Licht abbekommen hat.

Schönes Hostel

The hostel itself was great, especially the garden/pool/hammock area for relaxing. Staff were helpful, the breakfast was cheap and delicious and everything was clean. Sadly they do not have social events or activities besides yoga.

The 8-bed dorm is big, with two big showers (warm water, not hot) and sinks plus separated toilet. Cleaned it often and change the towels/bed duvet. The outside space is nice and I enjoyed specially the rooftop. Never had breakfast there, my suggestion is add some snacks also for lunch/dinner.Location just a few minutes from the main road and beach, but the road is very dark during night.They don't organise many activities though (just yoga and surf + party once a week, not many sociable events)

Stay at JJs hostel was a pleasant experience. Very neat and clean property. The pool is really nice and location is very central. Staff is courteous and helping. However, they dont hold group events and common areas are not used very much by the residents. So that social side is a little bit missing but overall it was a great experience. Highly recommended.

One of the best hostels ive ever been. Big rooms, separate showers/toilets and very clean! Also a nice pool and big chill area of the roof!

Awesome stay. Very nice and peaceful. Everything was neat and clean. The pool was great to beat the heat. Nice pool table at the terrace too! The host is okay too. Not much happening at the hostel as the host said that activities are arranged for only a few months during the peak season (even though the dorms were full when I was staying)

The pool was great and hostel rooms and bathrooms very clean. Good location.

So nice place to stay. It’s quiet but close to everything and the hostel arrange social activities throughout the day. Would highly recommend.

The best hostel in Sri Lanka I came across during my whole trip. It's very clean, has a nice pool, location is good and feels really premium.

Tolles Hostel mit Mega Rooftop. Oben unterm Dach gab es mehrere Chillmöglichkeiten, sowie ein Billardtisch. Sehr nettes Personal und eine gut ausgestattete Küche zum selbst kochen. Lage ist ebenfalls sehr zentral.

I’ve stayed in over 83 hostels around the world and JJ’s is def on my top 3. Ended up booking one night and turned into almost two weeks lmao. I can’t recommend enough this hostel, the amenities, the staff, and the vibes felt like home away from home. Whenever I’m back in Mirissa I’m definitely coming back ◡̈

I had a private room and it was perfect, best hostel I stayed in out of all of my Sri Lanka travels. The hostel lacked a bit of atmosphere and I found it hard to socialise with others but the social hosts did try their best but the calibre of people there just wanted to do their own thing! Highly recommend

Beautiful hostel and extremely clean! One of the nicest private rooms I’ve stayed at. However, the overall atmosphere is dull as there is no social interaction within the hostel. It’s such a lovely place, I’d like to see more fun events and ice breakers at the hostel.

Very good Hostel. Clean Rooms, spacious Rooftop area. Yoga Lessons in the morning. Everything in walkindistance.

Really nice hostel, perfect location. Great facilities; rooftop area, pool, great showers. Would recommend!!
