YHA Coolangatta

Location is terrible far from anything notable, and room had ants all over it and no ac. When it rains and hist the tin roof, it sounds like the loudest movie theater you’ve ever been in. Vibe isn’t great either, only positive I would give would be bathrooms are renovated. Take my advice and stay elsewhere.

wir haben zu zwei Betten in einem 6er Zimmer gebucht. eine Matratze war so durchgelegen, dass man darauf gar nicht schlafen konnte. wir haben dann versucht zu zweit auf einer Matratze zu liegen, die nicht ganz so durchgelegen war, wie die andere Matratze. das hat natürlich auch nicht funktioniert und wir haben dann die Nacht im Auto verbracht. Ich habe das Personal darauf angesprochen und er meinte da kann man nix machen. No refund. not recommended.

Been to 8 countries , This was my worst experience in a hostel, noise after midnight, comon areas are manly used by the staff and smell like weed, they observe you,and give you death stares, i could here one of them being loud saying the words idiot and as**e when i was in the lobby, i felt very uncomfortable, i complained but the manager did nothing, and happened again, i clearly saw the same guy criticising a grey car that belonged to another guest, saying that looked terrible

This hostel had great amentites except I had a private room right outside of the social area where I could hear everything all night. I slept about 3 hrs. The neighbor kept belching burps until 1am that I could hear with extreme clarity. I would not recommend getting a private room at this hostel. Quiet hours were not enforced at all. Definitely not the best night of sleep before a long plane ride.

It has been the worst hostel in Australia. Far from everything, not a coffee shop nor a supermarket, super dirty (bedrooms, toilets and kitchen), bad atmosphere, stinky with foot smell and cigarettes, and no staff available in the morning (at least nobody there).

My room was dirty when I arrived. Floor was dusty and my locker had bedbug or cockroach marks. Someone had also left their things to my locker. Common areas were clean and large. Kitchen was sometimes dirty because other people didn't wash their dishes. One day staff was cleaning bathrooms for one hour so I couldn't go to any bathroom. It was nice to be near to the beach and it was easy to take a bus to the center. It's okay if you stay only for one night.

Dirty, dusty, cobwebs all through room. Kitchen filthy, didn’t use the pool but didn’t look very inviting. Close to airport so it’s noisy early. This place needs an all round deep clean and tidy up. Staff member was lovely when checking in.

Bathroom and private room kept very clean. the kitchen was too small and the atmosphere of the place was very unsocial for backpackers due to a high amount of long term stays. the hostel was advertised as being in Coolangatta, when it should have been advertised as an airport hostel. Would recommend for one night if you have a layover - not worth a visit if you’re a backpacker

Ok hostel - does the job as a place to stay. But to say this place is in Coolangatta is a bit of a stretch- on the side of a highway next to airport. The room and bathroom was fine but maybe could have been a little cleaner. The common area was super nice and homely though!

Great location if you have a flight from Gold Coast airport the next morning - you can walk to the airport in 10 mins. Bunk beds are extremely basic and I’ve slept in much nicer bunks for the same price. There’s also no charging ports near the beds - only in the lockers by the wall which made it awkward setting an alarm for my morning flight. room was okay, enough room for your stuff, but a lot of long-stay-residents who filled the room with their stuff + a lot of noice from outside the WHOLE day. the kitchen is big and has everything you need, just a bit dirty.

stayed here 23 years ago and have been back several times since , It's a mix of people and not a party place from my experience . enjoyed my stays and most everything in walking distance or a ride on the local bus ..

Great place to stay on a budget!

Good hostel but there’s big window which cannot be open and no air-con in the rooms, this creates a greenhouse effect, which is very stifling. I had to sleep in wet clothes to cool down.

great facilities, friendly staff, HUGE communal kitchen. i would stay here again it’s very convenient if walking to the airport, but it is parallel to a highway and there’s no sidewalk. it’s doable to get into town via foot or bus, but you need to cross gold coast highway either way :/

I enjoyed staying here and had a good time despite a little dirt and constantly full trash bins :D the atmosphere was welcoming though.

Perfect spot a stones throw from the beach! Transport links were good and it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. 2 big communal rooms and the kitchen was great too.

pretty weird, very old crowd, not ideal location. quite expensive for what it is but not terrible to explore coolanagtta (which is great)

nice hostel, staff were amazing, not much of a social atmosphere unfortunately and pretty fsr out of town, but a good clean bed to sleep in :)

I really enjoyed my stay here! Hot showers, clean bathroom, tidy dorm and friendly service. Has everything you need, great vibes and a great all-round experience for me. The only downside that could be a problem for light sleepers is the airplanes. They are quite loud but if you can sleep through anything you’ll be fine. Thanks YHA GC I am keen for another stay soon!

+ super close to airport if you need to take a flight or can pick up buses from there + big shared bathroom which were clean and well maintained + comfy common area + good cafe opposite - rooms are pretty old fashioned, old style metal bunks, no privacy at all - only fans, no AC - biggest disappointment was a girl accused me of stealing her bed as housekeeping had cleaned it so I thought it was free.
