La Fortaleza Hostel

Para mexicanos es muy incómodo, no se habla español, no percibí un trato con respeto al personal mexicano contratado, es incómodo desde una perspectiva social y con consciencia de clase

Good: The owner, allowed me to park my motorcycle inside securely. Bad: The owner is aggressive, and he appeared to have an argument with someone in the street. Next, he told me about how he had to kick out a guest who previously stayed in my room because the person was partying…The entire place is dirty, especially the main bathroom—there is a second bathroom, but you have to walk through a dormitory room to access it…The terrace is had dog poop that nobody picked up. Worst hostel ever.

I booked this place due to it's location and low price. Unfortunately I felt like it was a hub for french people (who all just spoke french to each other). Additionally my room was humid and smelled like wet dog just like the downstairs common area. I think the volunteers were quite nice and the owner is alright but I just got strange vibes from this place. There was no lockers in my room and my bed was the only one without a curtain although they said they'd fix it (i was there for 4 nights)

Rapport qualité /prix correct. Un seul toilette pour 16 clients et en plus dans la même pièce que la seule douche c’est pas satisfaisant. Faites des travaux.

Great place to stay, the staff and the owner are the soul of the place and make sure everyone feels welcome and included. There are nice activities each day, good enough kitchen and different places to hang out. Loved the animals,the cat needs some time to warm up,the dogs are always asking for some treats and the duck is just there for the diversity I guess 😅 (he is new and still has to get used to it all). even though I just stayed 3 night I was sad to leave everyone behind.

The staff were lovely and they put on very good activities for the visitors. We did the family meal and games afterward. The hostel is in a really good location the communal areas were great. The only thing I was there was a bit of a weird smell in the room and the bathrooms were a little bit basic.

The staff were friendly, and it was great that a substantial breakfast was provided despite the low price. There weren’t enough toilets and showers, and it could have been a bit cleaner. It would have been even better if there was a designated area for drying laundry.

Hatten eine gute Zeit in dem Hostel! Personal ist Mega nett und hilfsbereit. Für den Preis war es wirklich top und man konnte nicht viel mehr erwarten. Die Wände in unserem Zimmer sahen leider nicht ganz so einladend aus, abgesehen davon war aber alles sauber.

Great hostel. Fun decor and had really nice touches in place like outdoor plugs and pidgin holes for individual food. I booked into an 8 bed dorm but the 4 bed was free so they gave this at the same price - this is a great indicator of the whole vibe of the place (customer focused) They also put on quite a few events like hiking on Sunday and group dinners each Friday.

Great stay at La Fortaleza. Clean and friendly, with nice vibes and activities organized by staff. Would highly recommend for a more intimate, family hostel experience. Only regretted not staying longer.. Looking forward to the rooftop opening up 🎉

The hostel has super friendly staff and volunteers and three dogs and two cats - so it makes you feel like you’re part of a massive family 😁 I didn’t spent a lot of time in the hostel during the days and evenings but it has a lot of places to chill and they’re constructing some new ones too! Very comfortable bed and the common areas were always clean. Great value for money!

This was such a wonderful stay! I extended twice. I stayed in a private room, and the bed was comfortable and private. The staff and volunteers were so friendly and welcoming. It really does feel like a family :) Thank you Sergio for bringing such a welcoming vibe! The dogs are super cute and there’s two cats. They’re both pretty friendly. The rooftop was cool, I loved being able to see the city. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe and welcome. I recommend!

Loved my stay in La Fortaleza! The dogs were the cutest and Sergio and the staff made sure everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of. The hostel is still new, so there’s a bit of construction on the roof because they’re building a bar and hangout are, which will be amazing with a view over San Cristobal

Felt like home right away. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. The staff and the owner were super friendly and incredibly helpful. No matter what we asked for they made it happen!! Muchísimas gracias!! Only the church around the corner was a pain in the ass haha

Probably my favourite hostel on our trip so far. Sergio and his team made us feel very welcome and helped everyone meet each other over a dinner and games night in a non-superficial way like some other hostels. They're working on improving some of the toilet/shower facilities etc. but other than that it was perfect!

I really felt in love with this place!!! Everybody was so welcoming and it felt like a big family. So if you want to stay in San Cristóbal BIG RECOMMENDATION

J'ai passé un excellent séjour à La fortaleza. L'hostal est idéalement situé en bordure de centre ville, dans un quartier calme. Une super ambiance au sein de l'hostel puisque nous avons dîner ensemble z soirs consécutifs dont un soir ou nous avons chacun préparer une spécialité... avec en prime des discussions et échanges autour du repas. Petit bonus pour le toit terrasse et la magnifique vue sur les montagnes. Merci beaucoup pour l'accueil !

Je recommande fortement cet Hostel très bel accueil de Sergio et Benoit merci encore les gars. Lieu calme, localisation idéale et une ambiance plus que chaleureuse c’était top !

My favourite hostel in Mexico! Rooms and showers are nice and clean. Lots of hostel events each night. Very friendly atmosphere and everyone makes it feel like home. Even has a roof top terrace and a tv with Netflix and Disney plus if you need some chill time.

The design of the hostel is very well done

Super hostel tenu par Sergio qui prend soin de ses clients ! Les 3 chiens sont très câlins et l’ambiance friendly. Cuisine bien équipée et dortoirs propres.

I loved my time at la Fortaleza so much I extended my stay. Great hostel, great staff, great dogs! Nice kitchen, hot coffee, happy people. I stayed in the lovely hostel room upstairs and had a super comfortable sleep. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the hostel family dinner however I was greatly encouraged, and it smelt and looked amazing. Nice atmosphere and great views from the terrace. Thanks Sergio and all the gang!! x
