Kind & Love Guesthouse and Hostel

Strange experience. Lodging was comfortable in private room. Mosquitoes in shared bathroom. Quiet, close to train, town, beach. I echo others’ reviews about hosts’ weird vibes. The owner, Varmil, started out friendly and welcoming but then behaved in ways that made me uncomfortable, esp. as a solo female traveler. He made intimate comments and pressured me to stay longer. When I was leaving, he appeared upset and cold. I don’t know what’s going on there but I was very relieved to leave.

Definetly NOT a hostel. It was kind of more a guesthouse. The owner immediately inned the money. Asked in a kind of pushy way if we desired to have breakfast, without even showing us a menu nor telling us what the choices were... The location was pretty central so that was nice. The rooms have no ac, which is a firm recommendation. Nevertheless it's a decent room for the current price. I gave it a good rating but I would not recommend though.

You get what you pay for. It’s cheap and close to the train station and all attractions. I was the only traveler at the guesthouse though. The host family were nice but they don’t really make you feel at home. The room was very clean. I do recommend it for a two night stay in Hikkaduwa.

Location is nice, rooms are also good. Beds are pretty uncomfortable, though. No AC, just fans. I can confirm other reviews mentioning the strange behavior of the old male owner. He tried to talk us into staying longer 30 seconds after arriving at the location. Generally weird vibes from him.

People are really nice, accomodation is a bit old. There was a weird smell in the dorm.

Overall nice stay. Is more like a home stay. You feel a little bit like you are sitting in the loving area of the host. No A/C in the rooms. But we got a good fan. Still stupset hot. Good and nice breakfast

Comfortable bed and room is simple but clean and spacious. No hot water and AC. There were many mosquitos in the room. There’s a common area. The female host is not very friendly, I got hints of discrimination.

Rooms were clean but staff was unfriendly and no vibe in this hostel wouldnt recommend it tbh

nice staff but the room was not really clean. I don't expect much but that was not cleaned enough. and please note that there is no air conditioning.

When coming to Hikkaduwa I would recommend staying at Kind & Love Guesthouse the owners are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very clean and modern. I really enjoyed my stay here I will stay here again.

This was a 10/10 experience, and I can only recommend staying here! The host was the nicest ever, and the whole family made us fell at home all the time! They cooked dinner for us so we could try traditional food! Stay here if you want to be safe, comfortable and experience the culture

Ansich sehr schöne Unterkunft, wenn man das richtige Zimmer bekommt. Ein Bett knarzt ziemlich laut, das andere war in Ordnung. Leider habe ich seit dieser Unterkunft kleine Ameisen in meinem Rucksack, in dem nie offenes Essen war. Preis Leistung ist aber top.

Great stay at kind and love guesthouse, we were greeted by the hosts when we arrived and they were on hand if needed. The room was just as described, comfortable, private ensuite and the aircon was a great help to us settling into Sri Lankan heat. If we chosen to we could have had breakfast for a very good price. Thank you Kind and love!

Nice hostel! We stayed for 3 nights in a double room with ac, it was very clean except for a lot of tiny ants which were running around the room. The owners are very sweet and helpful and zhe breakfast was very good :-)

Great value for money. The only issue was the heat of the room at night but for the price this is what to expect. Staff were amazing and super helpful :)

A family run basic hotel nearby the train station. It is just OK for a 1-2 days.

Lovely location real close to the main strip. Plenty of food, bars and shops. The beaches are great. Short but still lovely. Turtles come regularly, they are included by feeding but it’s nice to stand in the water and have a look at them eating sea weed. During our stay we seemed to have been put in the neighbours home. Not quite what we were expecting and didn’t match the photos at all. Although the couple whose home it was were lovely. The room was very nice and clean, so was the bathr...

a nice family run hostel in a fantastic location. very kind people and very accomodating - highly recommend.

I was travelling alone and felt super save there. Its a 5 minutes walk from the beach away. It was super clean. But its more a guesthouse than a hostel, if u want to connect to many young people then its not the right place.

Einfach zu Fuß vom Bahnhof zu erreichen. Das Personal ist sehr liebenswert.

I highly reccomed this house because of its kind family members and very nice guests like lovely elderly german ladies and backpackers all over the world. It‘s a good mix. I didn’t see the dorm room but the single room is great!! Big Bed, two ventilators, A/C power international, lockable box. The fater and family are very friendly and so helpfull!!! Feels like coming home ☺️

Very nice place with friendly and helpful hosts. We recommend it very much to anyone wanting a slightly more local experience in a calm, local neighborhood 😊

Sehr sehr nette Familie, welche dieses Hostel führt! Es ist sehr nah an der Raily Station und nah am Strand gelegen! Auf Wunsch gibt es sogar für wenig Geld ein super Frühstück! Für 1-2 Nächte aufjedenfall zu empfehlen.

Sehr nette Zimmer, das Haus liegt in nahezu perfekter Lage. Man ist in 2 Minuten am Strand und in der Stadt. Die Besitzer haben uns sehr freundlich aufgenommen und waren sehr hilfsbereit. Gerne wieder! :)

Very nice Hosts and location right behind the main street in a quieter sidestreet. 2 minutes walking from the train station, too!
