I would absolutely not recommend this hostel for many reasons. 1. Hostel does not exist as shown on google maps. The owner came to pick us up from the bus stop with his car, and drove us to a different location without informing us until we arrived and asked about it. He said that the other location was under renovation, but this is not verified. 2. Threatened us to be kicked out at 10PM if we didn’t book safari with him. There is no indication during the booking process that it’s mand...
The host was nice but it wasn’t the room that we chose and they didn’t tell us until we got there even tho they sent us 2 emails to confirm . We chose to the the safari with them and asked for breakfast before going and said that we needed to wake up at 4am even though the jeep was picking us up at 5:30 . For the price it’s not bad and the safari was amazing but I would like more transparency next time
It was nice that the host was picking me up from the bus station. Dinner was nice as well but when I had to pay they charged me 1.500 on top of the price of the room just because I turned the AC on. But they didn’t told me before which was a bit rude. Room was ok but not at that location hostelwold shows you
booked a dorm room and when i arrived i got a privat room with a double bed. Was really nice and comfortable. The dogs where pretty loud for the whole night (recommendedtobring earpugs in cas u can't sleep with noises like this). Also breakfast was served AFTER the safari so if u want to eat something beforehand u should bring something.
Es ist eine nette Unterkunft, aber nicht die, die auf Hostelworld beschrieben wird! Streng genommen ist sie also schlecht! Aber sie war günstig, das Essen war super, alles für die Safari war organisiert und die Besitzer waren nett.
It's a nice accommodation, but not the one described on Hostelworld! strictly speaking it's also bad! but it was cheap, the Essen was great, everything for the safari was organized and the owners were nice.

Passabel, um eine Nacht in Udawalawa zu verbringen und am nächsten Tag auf Safari zu gehen. Nicht sonderlich komfortabel, aber die Gastgebenden waren freundlich und bemüht.
Passabel, to spend a night in Udawalawa and go on safari the next day. not particularly comfortable, but the hosts were friendly and helpful.
Very nice staff that made us dinner and let us pick and try fruit from his fruit trees. There were lots of ants in my room though and a not too comfortable bed. Great if you are going on a safari tour which they helped us with.
great deal for a safari, if you share with others! host was welcoming and talkative. beautiful garden, great food(but order before youre hungry - its made from scratch so takes a while) made me want to stay another day
Die Unterkunft ist sauber und bietet sich optimal für eine Nacht vor der Uduwalawe Safari an. Man sollte beachten, dass man die Safari auch bei dem Gastgeber buchen muss… Er bietet aber einen total guten Preis von 5000 LKR für den Jeep. Die Gastgeber kümmern sich auch super um einen. Bspw. fahren sie einen für Einkäufe mal schnell, oder fahren für Essens Bestellungen auch extra nochmal los um Zutaten einzukaufen. Kann die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen.
The accommodation is clean and offers the best for a night before the Uduwalawe Safari. One should note that one has to book the Safari also with the host... He does, however, offer a total good price of 5000 LKR for the Jeep. The hosts also take super care of one. For example. drive one for shopping once quickly, or drive one for Essens orders and also go out extra to buy ingredients. Can highly recommend the accommodation.

Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Uns wurden die Taschen bei Ankunft abgenommen und ein Mango lassi aufs Haus gegeben. Der Eigentümer hat uns ebenfalls gratis in den Ort gebracht und mit uns nach einer Regenjacke gesucht. Frühstück war auch lecker und mal typisch sri lankanisch. ACHTUNG: keine Safari von außerhalb (über get your guide) buchen, da 1. diese fast doppelt so teuer ist wie die vom Hostel und 2. man dann nicht dort schlafen darf falls man diese schon gebucht hat...
The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We were taken out of our bags on arrival and given a Mango lassi on house. The owner also took us to the village for free and looked for a raincoat with us. Breakfast was also delicious and not typical Sri Lankan. ATTENTION: no Safari from outside (über get your guide) book, as 1. this fast is twice as expensive as the Hostel and 2. you can not sleep there if you have already booked it.
Lovely stay in Udawalawa. The people running the hostel are just the friendliest kindest people, they were so enthusiastic about us getting a good experience and learning as much as we could. The place was very clean and pretty and only a short tuktuk from the shops. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful stay with no stress

I dont know why they dont update the listing- this place doesnt exist. Its actually Green Heaven resort in a diff location and there is no dorm but shared rooms. However, the place was so clean, comfy beds, good wifi, cheap/tasty food. Would recommend however they really need to change the ad. Also, you can only stay here if you book their safari, which was fine for me. Was 5k + entrance fee and safari was good. However our driver had limited english so couldnt give much animal info.
This was a great place to stay before our safari trip. We had some amazing home cooked food for dinner and met some lovely people also on the safari.
Wir hatten hier eine sehr tolle Nacht verbracht bevor es zur Safari am nächsten Morgen ging. Wir wurden mit dem Auto kostenlos von der Bushaltestelle abgeholt. Es wurde alles für die Safari organisiert. Das Abendessen war köstlich und das Frühstück auch! Nach der Safari wurden wir wieder zu einer Bushaltestelle gebracht und für andere wurde ein privates Taxi besorgt. Der Aufenthalt war wirklich sehr schön und bei dem Preis kann man nicht meckern 😊
We had spent a very nice night here before going to safari the next morning. We were picked up by car free of charge from the bus stop. Everything was organized for safari. The dinner was delicious and breakfast too! After safari we were taken back to a bus stop and a private taxi was arranged for others. The stay was really very nice and at that price you can't complain 😊
We stayed here for two nights and truly enjoyed our time. The host was incredibly helpful and shared a lot of interesting information about Udawalawa National Park and its wildlife. We also booked our safari through this place, and everything was very well organized and taken care of.
This hostel was great value for money and the host Darshana was an absolutely lovely guy, who made us all feel very welcome and was happy to chat and answer any questions we had. Darshana also arranged a jeep for our safari trip at a modest price of 5000lkr, with the driver being as helpful and insightful as Darshana. Overall this was a great value hostel and safari experience
A truly wonderful place to stay with an incredibly warm and caring host. The accommodation is beautiful, with a lovely garden where you can really relax. The local food is excellent, and everything is prepared with a lot of heart. The host organizes absolutely everything — from an amazing safari trip to the national park, to fresh bread, and even transport to Ella. We felt very well looked after and would happily stay here again.
Loved this location nesstled in a residential area of Udawalawa. Staff were so friendly and we had an awsome day on Safari. No one else was staying here at the time but we enjoyed our two nights
Host was lovely and accommodating. We changed our plans and stayed only one night instead of two. They were ok with this and gave us great tips on traveling with the bus.
This was one of my favourite hostels to stay in. The hosts are a couple who are kind and friendly, very informative and brilliant to all the guests. I would recommend booking the safari with this hostel as we had an amazing time today!
Ich habe das Hostel für eine Nacht gebucht um den Nationalpark zu besuchen. Ich wurde Abends sehr nett mit einem frischen Mangosaft empfangen. Ich hatte noch nichts bezüglich Safari gebucht und gerne das Angebot des Inhabers angenommen für eine Morgensafari für 15 000 LKR pro Person. Hier ist es also problemlos möglich alleine zu buchen und an der Hostelsafari als Gruppe teilzunehmen. Diese war wunderschön und alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert.
I booked the hostel for one night to visit the National Park. I was very warmly received in the evenings with a fresh Mangosaft. I had not booked anything regarding Safari and gladly accepted the Owners' offer for a Morning Safari for 15 000 LKR per Person. Here it is also possible without any problem to book alone and participate in the Hostelsafari as a Group. This was beautiful and all in all very recommended.
Nous avons séjourné de nuit au Greenwood, c’était super agréable. La famille qui s’occupe du logement est adorable. Le logement est propre. La nourriture est très très bonne mais il n’y a pas grand chose à faire autour. C’est bien d’y rester une ou deux nuits maximum.
We stayed at Greenwood, it was super nice. The family who take care of the accommodation is adorable. The accommodation is clean. The food is very, very good but there is not much to do around. It is nice to stay one or two nights maximum.
I had a good stopover to go to Udawalawe safari. I'm not sure why the owner doesn't uses the right address for the hostel. Also there's shared rooms but no dorms with bunk beds. Lovely family run place and we had good food and breakfast. The place is small and I can imagine sometimes there might just be one or two guests, but I was lucky to find 3 people to go onto the safari with. super good value. No AC here but ceiling fan and bed mosquito net (which I didn't need)
