+ Owner was drunk all the time. He was very rude and misbehaved with me and my girlfriend. He did not give me breakfast on the last day after taking the money for the stay. When I confronted him for his behavior he abused me and made racial comments. No facilities were available, bedsheets were dirty and he did not change them for 3 days even after asking him to do so. He refused to take inidan currency when i tried to pay the hotel fare. I want Booking.com to take strict action against such hotel and hotel owners. They think they can do whatever they want and nobody will say anything.
+ There is no choice in the breakfast, the menu remains fixed and is the same every day. The preparation of breakfast is for Westerners' taste only. the portion size is fixed and too small. You cannot have a refill even if you are hungry. The worst part is that the owner seems to like white tourists only and is rather indifferent towards Indian tourists.

+ PATHETIC PLACE. When we checked in, there was only 1 guy at the reception, FULL DRUNK, to the extent that he didn't even know what he was speaking. And he kept on using bad words and absuing our driver so badly who was just trying to help us in the check in process
- COMPLETELY UNSAFE PLACE FOR SOLO FEMALE OR ONLY FEMALE TRAVELERS
The owner/guy at the reception was rude and uncouth. Made it a point to make fun of the fact that I paid 850 nepali rupees from the airport ( my first time in Nepal and I had dropped them an email about airport transfer that they never bothered responding. ). Also, when I tried asking them about advice was dismissed offhandedly. He made it a point to let me know that he won't allow me back with girls or drunk. he was drunk shitless later in the day. s**** property, checked out in a day.
+ decent room for the price.
- staff was extremely rude and aggressive - especially the owner who had made multiple antisemitic remarks (calling us sheep) once he found out that we were travelling from Israel.. and harassed us constantly.
+ owner / manager was friendly
- The laundry service was terrible. Dropped laundry in the morning at 6 am they said it would be ready to pick up at 5pm . Waited til 7 pm when it arrived completely folded and wet!!! WTF
I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights . In the beginning it was ok , just ok , the accommodation was pretty basic and it didn’t feel so social hostel as I saw in some recommendations before . The bad part was the night that we came back to the hostel and saw the owner of the hostel very drunk , he was very aggressive and spoke really badly to us and to his employees which tried to calm him down . As a solo traveler after this Situation I felt really uncomfortable to stay ...
Not recommended, try Wander Thirst Hostel
We stayed in October 2022 in the annex building and it was completely infested with bed bugs. Also the owner was super intoxicated and unhelpful.

Solid hostel just a 5min walk to the Thamel district. The owner was hilarious and incredibly welcoming. The rooms we're just fine and the hostel offers free breakfast.
Thanks to the staff here for helping me and having a chill and friendly vibe! It’s a really nice place, would recommend
Perfect place to start my time in Nepal. Breakfast each morning and great suggestions from staff on what to see and do. Coming back soon I hope.
The best hostel in my opinion!
The owner khem is a really amazing host, that takes so much care of the guest that stays in the hostel. Makes you feel really welcomed! Differently recommend staying here
I would highly recommend Elbrus Home. The staff is lovely and very helpful. The rooms are clean and great value for money. It’s also a nice safe haven in the chaos of Kathmandu, but still really close to Thamel. Don’t hesitate to come here, it’s a great hostel!
Overall a very reasonable stay for a good price. Pros: comfy beds, storage lockers, good showers, free breakfast, helpful staff Cons: no curtains on the beds, no social scene
I love Elbrus home with my whole heart … Khem is so incredibly welcoming … beds are comfy… great included breakfast. Will continue to come back everytime I’m in Kathmandu !!!
Really great hostel! Free breakfast is a nice touch and khem and his team are very welcoming! I’ll definitely be back. Sometimes might not be the most social, unless you go out of your way to mingle, but otherwise worrh the price!
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, and nice rooms.
Super cute home stay in the heart of Thamel. All the staff are lovely and so fun!! Great value for what you pay. Breakfast is great and you can have it in the garden in the morning. Enough people around for it to be social if you want it to be. Rooms are very spacious and the two houses have rooftop terraces. I’m definitely coming back here!
Veryyyy good hostel , the owner is very kind and humble
Amazing stay at Elbrus! I’ve stayed here a few times in my stay in Nepal and will be back :)
Loved the location at Elbrus home and the beautiful fairy-like garden area 🌿🌀 Included breakfast is basic (egg of choice, tea, banana, bread) but always good ☺️ Only thing to note is that there isn’t much of a social vibe here, of course it changes due to time of year and your experience, but other than breakfast no one hangs out there. Beds were also super comfy, only one fan so little hot at night but not unbearable ✨
Amazing stay! Great location near Thamel but very private. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the garden was a highlight and perfect for meeting other travellers. Elbrus can easily organize trekking and guides, which is super helpful. The owner, Khem, is a wonderful man who showed us real kindness when we needed help, going well beyond what’s expected of a host. We're so grateful. Khem and his team are great; you’ll have a fantastic stay here when visiting Kathmandu...
+ Cosy Hostel/Guesthouse in a good location, the room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Thanks.

The staff is so friendly! Good location, peaceful, near to Thamel and central Kathmandu but on a more quiet street. Staff allowed me to check in when I arrived at 5am, was really helpful as I was exhausted. Owner also personally walked me to the bus and got me a good deal on bus tickets to Pokhara. It cost less than buying the tickets at the bus station, I recommend booking through them. There is also relaxation area with a lot of books and a garden and several sunny balconies to relax on.
+ Nice garden. Good breakfast friendly staff.
